Over an half hour of highlights in just 2 seasons at LSU...that's saying somthing..this kid could arguably be the greatest college db ever!
I have him number one in my book
He was just as exciting to watch as the country’s best offensive players. To put it in perspective he played against Tavon Austin twice and Tavon had 4 decent plays between both games. Played against DeAnthony Thomas and he was non existent until the fourth quarter. The dude was an absolute menace on the field. He put the fear of god in skill’s position players. His ability to tackle and attack the ball is unanimously the best is ever seen at this level.
He always was a monster in practice which doesn't sound like much but he made everyone practice harder because he was so jacked up all the time. Ask anyone who was on the 2010-11 team they will tell you he brought out the best in everyone on that team...
He was the Best ever, better than Patrick Peterson and Charles Woodson. He made more impact plays in some games then some 1st round corners did in 4 or 5 games. He impacted almost every play in some form or fashion

That North Carolina game was his very first college football game and he got a sack-fumble and a bunch of tackles. Instant contributor as an undersized freshman who only had 1 major D1 offer out of high school. The guy just plays hard every single play. My favorite college player ever.
best college defender of all time IMO. 38 min highlight film just of his fr and soph year and huge proportion of them were takeaways and scores. That's not typical

In the NFL -->> In '05 1st team All-Pro '07 1st team All-Pro , DPOY 2007 (one of only 5 safties to ever win that award at the time) beat out Brian Dawkins, Ed Reed, Troy Palamaulu. Everytime I try to watch his highlights they only put like 3-5 min worth. He’d had 11 forced fumbles but they only put like 5 in there. This video is great

I salute and respect this school cuz they produce stars, such as… Tyrann Mathieu himself, Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Rueben Randle, Patrick Peterson, Morris Claiborne, Eric Reid, Derek Stingley Jr, Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Clyde Edwards, Leonard Fournette etc etc the list goes on

It’s insane to think we had Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu on the field together terrorizing offenses. Peterson locking down number one receivers and making plays on his own and Mathieu in straight up attack mode sacking Qbs, stripping balls from receivers/Rb’s, and tipping screen passes to himself for TD’s. 😂

I thought he was the next Ed Reed. He’s had a great nfl career, but I thought he was gonna be an all timer. I still can’t think of a DB since honey Badger that has his ball skills.
He’s torn both of his ACLs since coming into the league, and still has managed to be a 1st team all pro player 3 times. He also was the best defensive player on the team that won a super bowl. I think you’re downplaying the success he’s had in the nfl

Was mathieu giving up alot of plays since he was at CB at lsu? I didn't realize how he really was a safety at the corner position at the time. I was so young at the time I remember his highlight reel but I wasn't watching every play of every lsu game at the time
