Corey Glass Bama would have destroyed UCF in the 2nd half, too. I've seen Bama play in person. They NEVER give up. Even if they're beating a team in the 1st quarter and there is no possible way for that team to come back, Bama keeps playing as if it's coming down to the wire. That's Nick Saban's philosophy about life. He's not a quitter. I saw him destroy my team (Texas) at the Rose Bowl for the BCS National Championship.
In wake of what Georgia did to TCU, this is the only game I can vivdly remember, seeing a team get utterly dominanted the way Notre Dame was that night
I was 7 when I watched this game with my dad (both lifelong Notre Dame fans), nobody else could’ve matched up against Alabama other than that #3 Georgia (and I guess Johnny Manziel 😂) in my mind. It’s a shame that we were the ones that had to take the beating.
@@slatt33 It takes more than steroids to execute on offense and defense. Steroids don't help on fewer penalties either. Other teams just can't execute as well and make more mental mistakes/penalties. This is why many teams become afraid once they step on the field; they know they have to play a perfect game on execution and penalties.
Notre Dame did belong in this game but the whole team was caught up in Manti Teo's catfish scandal. ND was a pretty good team that year but honestly, no team matches up to Alabama, especially that in year.
Man watching this makes me even more pissed off that mark richt screwed up the last play of the Sec championship game. Whoever won that game was gonna absolutely destroy Notre Dame UGA or AL didn’t matter
Here's an interesting statistic. Notre Dame hasn't just been declining recently, it's actually been ongoing for the past 50 years! Here are the numbers, using the 1965-2015 seasons: Notre Dame: 3 NCs; 1 Heisman. Alabama: 10 NCs; 18 conference titles; 2 Heismans. Alabama has now surpassed ND as the historically greatest CFB program of all time.
I will say very true. Except your 73' title that you count. And during that 50 years of so called decline. They went head to head 7 times with the Irish taking Five. Including a 7-0 shut out at Tuscaloosa late 70s and a 33-7 beating they took in South bend in the mid 80s' You are on top TODAY. But I can remember the 70's when the Irish whipped Alabama's Ass every time they played them.
@@patrickmd4667 And that's what's important right? Beating Alabama and not caring much about every other opponent? You know a team is the best ever when fans like Notre Dame hold wins over you on a pedestal higher than the Championships they've won. You seem to have a good memory. Do you also remember when Alabama fans held onto the past for far too long? Reminiscing about the Bear Bryant era like it was the only thing they had left to live for? That's how you sound right now. It was pathetic when Alabama fans did it then and it's pathetic for a Notre Dame fan to do it now.
I know there were better teams than Notre Dame that year, but lucky or not ND was undefeated and ranked number one. They didn't have a particular tough schedule that year, but i do give the Irish credit for putting together a decent schedule most years. When they put that schedule together it looked good on paper, so that's not a shot at ND. That Bama team had a current NFL qb(albeit an NFL back up), 2 NFL rb's, and most of that o-line is playing on Sundays too. Several players from that defense as well are pro's now. Surely another school could've kept it closer, but that Bama team would've beaten anybody that night.
I never had a problem with the pundits saying ND had a good team, they did. They had a pretty good team, I had a problem with all the fking ND fans talking smack about the SEC and Alabama's schedule, like they didn't belong. ND fans need to recognize that ND is no longer "special", ND needs to join a conference. Once the playoff deal struck, ND no longer has that special buy in if they win enough games, their "sweatheart" deal. You want to play for the title ND? Join the Big 10 (laugh) or another conference, then we'll see how you do, until then, this is what the SEC will deliver to your inbox year in, year out.
Hard to believe there will ever be a college football program that will approach the greatness of the Alabama Crimson Tide. They are forever the greatest college football program in history! No other team comes close!
The biggest talent gap in NCAA championship history. I thought it was kinda cool that ND made it but within the first few plays it was crystal clear how much better bama was. JV vs varsity
and Alabama kicked their asses again. Then went on to embarrass Ohio State in the NC game. 42-24. Bama has 6 NC wins in the last 11 years. When I moved to Alabama in the 6th grade and was asked which team I was for, I am so happy I picked Alabama over Auburn. Roll Tide.
No disrespect to ND but I believe they were the final sacrifice to the college gods in order to finally get the BCS destroyed. The playoff is so much better for the game. So many great deserve more than a computer, some writers, and some bias coaches deciding who plays in the biggest game of the college football season.
+Ashton Evans Well a 12-0 team with a schedule of Oklahoma, Stanford, MSU, Michigan, Navy, USC, Pitt, Miami, BYU, Boston College, Wake Forest and Purdue is deserving of a title shot. I don't think this one was anyone's fault. ND deserved the shot. Plus, that ND team would have still been like #2 in the playoff era. If they had been matched up for example vs Florida St they would have probably beaten FSU. Therefore, you probably STILL end up with a national championship beating by Bama or Ohio St. So, in the end, it is hard to predict what the title games look like. Keep in mind. In 2012, LSU beat Bama in the regular season only to get killed in the title game.
ndfaithful's_son I agree with you in saying that ND had the right with their schedule to play for the national title but dont agree with opponent selection. I think Oregon vs Alabama that year might have made the final game. ND had a great team that year the reason I said what I said was that the BCS needed a final matchup like this in order to finally end the BCS. Just my preference, loving the playoff. I love the fact that the best of the best get a shot because honestly last year in the polls Alabama may have again had a national title shot even though with a playoff they got beat.
Ashton Evans Oh no. I didn't mean 2012 footballs season. What I am saying is that if you were to move THAT ND football team from 2012 with that record and schedule over to 2014 (last year). Their 12-0 record likely gets them #2 and if matched up with 2014 FSU they likely end up in the title game again vs Bama/Oregon/Ohio St and still get killed. 2012 ND is better in my opinion than 2014 FSU.
Ashton Evans In 2012, going off of the final regular season AP polls, the set up would have been....1.) ND vs 4.) Oregon...2.) Bama vs 3.) Florida. I think you would be right there. However, Oregon struggled with Stanford's physical play and lost that year in November to them. I actually think that 2012 ND team uses a similar recipe and could have won against that Oregon team. So, we may have ended up with a similar result to be frank.
+ndfaithful's_son You know what I don't want to admit it cause(full disclosure-I can't stand Alabama, lol) but you are absolutely right. Good to talk to a knowledgeable fan. interested to know even though it's early, who do you have as your final four?
Georgia and Alabama were about as evenly matched that year as ever 2 very good qb, good wr, a rb attack and some ferocious defense. It would have been great to see a rematch of the seccg in the national championship
I remember this being the first National Championship that I ever watched and everybody said Notre Dame would win but somehow my gullible, stupid, easily mind changed eight year old self still knew that they didn't have a chance.
X_Public_Enemy_X Mongrel Mongrel Sorry, but no team with a loss gets to be part of the "greatest team in the history of college football" discussion. While the "greatest team" is subjective and caution should be used when comparing eras, the 1988 Notre Dame team (defeated #1 Miami, one of the greatest one-loss teams of all time, #2 USC and #3 West Virginia) and the 1995 Nebraska team (beat their opponents by nearly 40ppg, won on the road at #7 Colorado by 23, at #10 Kansas by 38, and destroyed undefeated Florida 62-24 for the championship) are superior by any objective measure.
Iowamutt How is that so? Alabama's one loss in 2011 came against LSU who beat the eventual Rose Bowl winner in Oregon handedly. Oh and also beat West Virginia who won a BCS bowl game(Orange Bowl) and put up 70 points in that win. LSU had an all time great defense as well that year. That "game of the century" was as good of a defensive battle as you are ever going to see. They were undefeated up until the national title game. Then comes the national championship. LSU didn't even cross the 50 yard line until the very end of the game which ended up being a shutout. Alabama had one of the greatest defenses ever assembled in CFB. Most every starter on that defense is now contributing in the NFL. Not to mention they had the best O line in football and their starting QB and RB ended up being Heisman Finalists. I do agree about the 88 Notre Dame team and the 95 Nebraska team. Those two teams you could easily make an argument as being the best ever, no doubt.. But that Bama team is one of the top 10/5 teams ever. Notice I never said that they were "the greatest team in college football history." I believe they are one of the best, but I wouldn't say they are the clear cut best ever.
He has to go bad to 1988 lmao kid notes dame sucks get out of here. Alabama would do this to that shitty team this year. They're over rated as this video shows. They're not the best.
I remember hearing a local guy who was at this game with press credentials talking about it a few days later. He said he was amazed by the 2nd stringers on the ND sideline warming up. "These guys weren't big enough to mow Nick Saban's lawn. They were all getting pumped up to go in and beat Bama. They're all gonna die. Makes you wonder.....what was Notre Dame even thinking?"
Total Dominance. 42-14 Alabama 265 Rushing and 264 Passing. Total 529 vs the so called #1 defense, seriously. ND you guys had no damn business in this game. It should have been Georgia. Damn sure wasn't ND or OU.
17:18 tells you all you need to know; Alabama's starters are still competing, so much so that they are jarring with one another, while the Irish lineman jumps up and down like he did something with his team down 42-14.
I watched The Church play USC earlier in the year and they struggled with their weak running game. Notre Dame had no business playing in this game, none.
You "think" Bama was better. This was one of the most lopsided BCS Championship Games since its inception. Alabama thoroughly beat Notre Dame in every phase of the game.
Will never forget this game. Notre Dame fans talked so much crap before this game. Even bringing up the stereotypes of Alabamians such as us living in trailers and incest. Gotta love humbling the haters!
Gotta say, Alabama is the best football team the NCAA. I really want my Buckeyes to play them, I think it would be an amazing game! Going to be interesting to see what happens this year. I wish Alabama and their fans the best, and a great season. It's going to be a fun year for the both of our teams!
So we’ve seen some pretty bad blowouts in both the BCS Championship and the CFB Playoff games. But this is the only one I can think of where the game was never in question for even a single drive. Most blowouts are at least close for two or three possessions until one team starts rolling. Or maybe a team starts out hot but the losing team mounts a furious effort at a comeback and gains some momentum at some point. That never happened in this game.
Hah the fact that Notre Dame even made it to this game was a joke they had an easy schedule and played shitty the whole year! So they faced a real team in Alabama and got beat did my heart good can't stand Notre Dame anyway!
Brian Snider Perhaps UCF should have been on Notre Dame's schedule, just so Notre Dame could have bragged that they either beat or lost to the "2017 Undisputed National Champions." That self-imposed title is a joke. It's on banners all around UCF stadium. Even their stadium is a joke. It's made of recycled aluminum pop tops.
Thug Knight There is no way that Notre Dame beat LSU "literally" after I posted my comment, because you're talking in the future. But yes, Notre Dame has beaten LSU; however, it doesn't mean that LSU isn't a great team. They've won national championships and gone to bowl games, just like Notre Dame and many other teams. LSU may not have the record that Alabama and a few other schools have, but they do have a great team, and the fans are literally "fanatical." Notre Dame hasn't been doing very well these past few years. That doesn't mean they're not a football powerhouse with no fans, though.
Alabama legit forgot to struggle. they were Notre Dame's daddy. Notre Dame shouldn't have been there in the first place. and no one wants to talk about it but the score could have been much worse.

Lol aww poor baby
Preston Rohr this is football smart one
@@prestonrohr1744 Tennessee has the second best basketball second only too uconn who only has one more national championship than us and our football program is pretty good (not as good as bama or nd) but we have six nattys, second most in the sec, 9th (I think) in the country, If Notre dame played in a conference like the sec they wouldn't have a whole lot of anything in football🤷♂️
@Ryan G O Malley God is with everyone
Famous quote of the game. If this was a prize fight they call it off.
And that's when it was only 28-0 second quarter lol
Notre Dame didn't even belong in this game............I would have rather watched Alabama & Georgia play again for the Nat. championship...............
This was an exhibition game. The national title was settled in Atlanta in December.
ForMeTo PoopOn Life-long ND fan here, couldn't agree more. That SEC championship WAS the title game in my mind.
I think they deserved to be there considering OSU was on proby. And to all you ND fans it's not always a bad thing to lose like this, it makes you better in the long run. Bear always said its not how you win but how you lose that defines your program. RTR

Honestly if i was a Bama fan i would just get use to winning so much at this point.
Shut up
My parents Actually went to this game when I was 6 years old at the time
LMAO, they showed all 5 of NDs first downs. ND was setup to be embarrassed, they were a "decent at best" team that had a very, very lucky season. They had no business playing in this game.
So why did they get in then?
Their schedule
David f yes
Parker Braswell years later and we’re still talking about Notre Dame being a consequence of scheduling. Lol Notre Dame is going to get smashed by alabama AGAIN
Tony H you think nd will beat Clemson?
This is what would have happened if Alabama played UCF.
26-14
UCF is a joke. Their schedule was high school football teams until they got to the bowl. They got lucky on that one.
UCF 2017 UNDISPUTED NATTY CHAMPS 13-0-0 yeah Auburn beat us UCF didn't and never will
sosidecop64 Bama would've destroyed UCF in the first half.
7 years later we see them in the playoffs
Put a period on the latest dynasty! RTR
More like a ................( many more to come).
In wake of what Georgia did to TCU, this is the only game I can vivdly remember, seeing a team get utterly dominanted the way Notre Dame was that night
I have seen this probably 100 times and never noticed that the center pushed AJ.
I was 7 when I watched this game with my dad (both lifelong Notre Dame fans), nobody else could’ve matched up against Alabama other than that #3 Georgia (and I guess Johnny Manziel 😂) in my mind. It’s a shame that we were the ones that had to take the beating.
I was 25..Anyway, most of what you said is right..LSU also gave Alabama a close game in 2012 ⁉🟪🏈🏟

@@slatt33 aaaaw some one was mad 🥺
@@slatt33 It takes more than steroids to execute on offense and defense. Steroids don't help on fewer penalties either. Other teams just can't execute as well and make more mental mistakes/penalties. This is why many teams become afraid once they step on the field; they know they have to play a perfect game on execution and penalties.
@@slatt33 Dynasty versus overrated high school program.
There was no phase of that game where Notre Dame matched up with Bama.
I hope they play again for the Bcs game this year 2018.... Here we go again this time Tua and Judy both being the players of the game
Can't wait to see AJ McCarron really get his chance at the NFL level. That kid is a born winner no matter what he does.

Bout to be a repeat of this on Friday.
Notre Dame did belong in this game but the whole team was caught up in Manti Teo's catfish scandal. ND was a pretty good team that year but honestly, no team matches up to Alabama, especially that in year.
Not even a Alabama fan but lacy owns ND😂
Back when Eddie Lacy was in shape
Now and forever, Roll Tide.
Your channel is awesome man
There is no way anyone could've believed this game would be competitive.
Big AU fan, but man I laughed my ass off at this one. Carry on tide, make te'o look ridiculous
Man watching this makes me even more pissed off that mark richt screwed up the last play of the Sec championship game. Whoever won that game was gonna absolutely destroy Notre Dame UGA or AL didn’t matter
Probably one of the top five offensive lines in college FB history.
Here's an interesting statistic. Notre Dame hasn't just been declining recently, it's actually been ongoing for the past 50 years! Here are the numbers, using the 1965-2015 seasons:
Notre Dame: 3 NCs; 1 Heisman.
Alabama: 10 NCs; 18 conference titles; 2 Heismans.
Alabama has now surpassed ND as the historically greatest CFB program of all time.
Britton Thompson I
I will say very true.
Love watching this game over and over . Roll Tide
Surely another school could've kept it closer, but that Bama team would've beaten anybody that night.
notre dame didn't belong.. I knew it was gonna be ugly they went into overtime with Pittsburgh... smh
true, but what can you do they were undefeated
+john vice true and it was definitely decided when Alabama and Georgia played who would take the 2 spot
Don't forget about an all-pro Amari Cooper at wideout as well.
Hard to believe there will ever be a college football program that will approach the greatness of the Alabama Crimson Tide. They are forever the greatest college football program in history! No other team comes close!
Facts
Who else here after Alabama going against Notre Dame again.
Same result or worse.
The biggest talent gap in NCAA championship history. I thought it was kinda cool that ND made it but within the first few plays it was crystal clear how much better bama was. JV vs varsity
Who’s here when Notre Dame got selected again for the playoffs?
and Alabama kicked their asses again.
Let's be real. Georgia would have done the same thing.
The very same thing!! Go Dawgz!
Georgia and Alabama were about as evenly matched that year as ever 2 very good qb, good wr, a rb attack and some ferocious defense. It would have been great to see a rematch of the seccg in the national championship
Georgia vs Bama National Championship 2018.. in Atlanta lol. SEC Championship 2.0
Go Dawgs! And yeah probably but we couldn't beat Alabama so we'll never know.
Georgia did not make it so u never know
Reminder that all this game did was prove the obvious in 2012: the SEC Championship Game was the real national championship
I remember this being the first National Championship that I ever watched and everybody said Notre Dame would win but somehow my gullible, stupid, easily mind changed eight year old self still knew that they didn't have a chance.
The greatest team in the history of college football.
Mongrel Mongrel Idk about that. I like the 2011 Bama team maybe a little bit more than this one..
Sur3whynot Hahahahahaha! All the way back to 1988? Wow. Ancient times.
You could tell they ain't played a sec team in a while Hah
I remember hearing a local guy who was at this game with press credentials talking about it a few days later. He said he was amazed by the 2nd stringers on the ND sideline warming up. "These guys weren't big enough to mow Nick Saban's lawn. They were all getting pumped up to go in and beat Bama. They're all gonna die. Makes you wonder.....what was Notre Dame even thinking?"
That was as good as a team can be that year
Lsu vs alabama national championship Best ncaa championship game ever
Total Dominance. 42-14 Alabama 265 Rushing and 264 Passing. Total 529 vs the so called #1 defense, seriously. ND you guys had no damn business in this game. It should have been Georgia. Damn sure wasn't ND or OU.
That makes no sense, they already played in the sec championship, that is just the dumbest idea ever
@@stevenassanti2572 Dumb statement. other than Clemson the SEC has dominated college football since 2009
Bama imposed it's will on ND!
any one noticed Alabama had 61 blocking Teo in most of the highlights. Teo was tossed around many times
I'm a huge ND fan, but the Irish were just outmatched in this game. Roll Tide!
I think Alabama was better. Think about it, everyone on that team had already played in several championship games and huge game atmospheres.
You "think" Bama was better. This was one of the most lopsided BCS Championship Games since its inception. Alabama thoroughly beat Notre Dame in every phase of the game.
The discipline is the difference between then and now.
Will never forget this game. Notre Dame fans talked so much crap before this game. Even bringing up the stereotypes of Alabamians such as us living in trailers and incest. Gotta love humbling the haters!
Many a tv broke in the south bend area on this night
Anyone notice the player fall from the stand at 19:42 Watch the bottom right corner of the screen for about 5 seconds
dang lol
Maybe you should update this post 😂😂
Deep down, everybody knew what they were about to watch. lol
Notre Dame had absolutely no business being in this game. They were so inferior on every level.
here here my friend. The score could easily been Alabama up by 70 points but that's not how Nick saben rolls
Never gets old watching #BAMA
Came here because I know they're getting ready to build up the hype train for ND again next year.
Congratulations, you’re a prophet
I'm mad this game was even scheduled. Notre Dame was clearly not on the same level.
Hah the fact that Notre Dame even made it to this game was a joke they had an easy schedule and played shitty the whole year! So they faced a real team in Alabama and got beat did my heart good can't stand Notre Dame anyway!
USC, Stanford, Oklahoma, MSU, and UM don't qualify as an easy schedule... ND's schedule was just as difficult as Bama's...
dteddy304 apparently not
+dteddy304 OK , USC and UM all sucked i 2012.
That wasnt even close to bama's schedule. LSU alone would blow out every team on ND's schedule
How in the world does nd keep getting in playoffs, beyond my understanding
Anyone else here from the heir of Carthage playlist? Lol
Alabama legit forgot to struggle. they were Notre Dame's daddy. Notre Dame shouldn't have been there in the first place. and no one wants to talk about it but the score could have been much worse.
"vaunted ND defense" come on.
You become a Bama fan when you're young, and you are a BAMA fan for life. If you knew anything about that, you would know. Alabama is so well rounded every year, USC VS ALABAMA wouldn't even been close...RTR!
Interesting that ND hasn't been good or relevant in 25 yrs and yet always ends up high in the rankings. Bama showed how delusional ND fans can be.
Notre Dame was good back then when they had Montana, Notre Dame would tare up Alabama back then.
