    You may never see this, but thank you for actually addressing bone loss! Most doctors avoid the issue because it is, to be frank, difficult for both the physician and the patient.

      Hi Debra Barnhardt,
      I did see it! With the right knowledge, and technique, treating bone loss can actually be very easy on the patient, and doesn't require surgery if concurrent tissue laxity is not yet significant. I've made several videos about age-related volume loss, for your reference:

      You're welcome, Vanessa Shaw! I make these videos so people can be better informed about cosmetic procedures, so they can make better decisions about them.
      Facelift or filler is often not an either or proposition, especially if you are already older, where both may treat different factors of facial aging. However, for people in their 40s and 50s, volume loss does occur before significant skin and tissue laxity. You can refer to these videos about it:

    Just a question, how do you asses bone loss, especially if it present with sagging skin too?
    Dr Afsheen Bilal Asst Professor Of Dermatology, Islamabad

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 років тому +2

      Hi Dr. Bilal,
      Just a few millimeters of bone loss can translate into a considerable loss of facial volume. It does go down to experience and knowledge of facial anatomy from procedures like facelifts to assess bone loss. I hope this helps you.

    my FL did not address the nasal labial folds and the loose skin around my mouth - very disappointed. what complementary procedures do you recommend. I lost a lot of volume in my face due diet and age. my buccal fat pads are very prominent as they are the only place I have fat! My skin is very thin and fragile according to the doctor who performed the FL. I assume I should avoid any lasers but I do need skin tightening as well as volume. thanks!.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 роки тому +2

      Hi tectonicblond,
      Nasolabial folds, and mesolabial folds are more of a result of facial volume loss due to aging, rather than facial skin and soft tissue laxity from aging. While a physical examination is needed to determine the right combination of complementary procedures for you, you can refer to this recent video on how volume enhancement and other procedures can enhance and improve the results of a surgical facelift - ua-cam.com/video/sR3_FoNC87I/v-deo.html

    What do you think of fat transfer to address the bone loss? It’s difficult to find a good injector wish you’d open a branch office in CA

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi Lisa Austin,
      Grafted fat cannot be placed at the bone level like filler can because grafted fat needs to take to a new blood supply to remain viable. Filler can be placed at the bone level since it doesn't require a blood supply, with the overlying muscle layer preventing it from migrating. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kpkIuOXkloI/v-deo.html

      Hi Lauren Christenson,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. I would need to perform a physical examination of your face and neck to determine the best approach for your situation. Often we can improve facelift results with non-surgical volume enhancement, but I would need examine your facial tissue to determine if additional surgery is needed. I hope this helps you.

    Can you give average costs of each? Would love (and need to do something) but cost is a real factor for single working mothers; the lowest end of the pay scale, and especially by a New York practitioner. These procedures aren’t covered by health insurance which is outrageously expensive in itself.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 роки тому

      Hi CapeKell,
      Sorry to hear about your situation. Surgical facelifts should be seen as an investment in yourself, and I don't recommend shopping for price as there will always be compromises by the surgeon who offers them for a lower price, such as making up the difference by seeing more patients, and spending less time on the procedure. Having a lower cost procedure now has a higher tendency for a more expensive revision soon after.
      That being said, we don’t have set costs for surgery as each patient has different needs, and some surgeries are more extensive than others. You can contact our offices or our websites for a price range. Our offices are located in Manhattan, New York City which you can call at (212) 265-8877; Garden City, Long Island at (516) 742-4636; or Vienna, Virginia at (703) 356-1336. • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому +1

      Hi Helena Hakkaart,
      Yes, she did recover well as she was healthy for age. There are individual health, and age factors that are considered before determining if someone is a good candidate for facelift surgery. The age of when you have facelift surgery is an important factor for the longevity of benefits. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/ZNQ3B9c_hjE/v-deo.html

    Wouldn't structural volumizing make the face wider? Also, it has to be repeated every two years?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi dam mar,
      The point of Structural Volumizing is to give the face more volume, projection, and definition, but still looking natural. The time in between treatments does depend on the individual patient, and how long their rate of metabolization of the filler is as it is possible in some people to last more than two years. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    I am 37 and considering a lower facelift because i have jowls and marionette lines . I have no bottom teeth at the bank and ive lost bone structure around this area i think thats why it looks saggy. Makes sense that bone structure comes into play . I have tried filler but very little improvements. I now think a facelift wouldn't work especially when my bone structure in my jawline isnt great

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD

      Hi @JenniferBlack-hs8md,
      37 is generally too young for a surgical facelift. Jowls, marionette lines, and the appearance of sagging at your age can be improved with volume enhancement. You can can refer to these videos about it:
