Would it make sense for women to wait with a facelift until they have gone through menopause? I’ve heard that a lot of facial changes, such as laxity, volume loss and bone resorption become more pronounced after menopause.

The usual age range I recommend for a facelift is 60 and older, which is usually around the time of menopause. However, like menopause, the age when significant tissue laxity and bone volume loss does differ with individuals. Menopause also does not factor in environmental factors that contribute to accelerated aging like sun exposure, or how some people have genetically thinner skin than others, which makes skin laxity occur sooner. It's important to know that no procedure can completely stop the aging. Aging does continue after a facelift, and with time normal facial movement also does affect facelift results . I hope this clarifies things for you.

30 is generally too young to have a facelift as there isn't significant skin and tissue laxity at this age to surgically lift. 30 is still very young, but by the mid 30s and older you may be experiencing volume loss due to aging. Do results last better the younger you do the facelift? Or is it more beneficial to do facelifts at an older age?

A mini lift or a short-scar facelift done say in your 50s will last longer than a more extensive deep plane facelift done in your 60s or older because tissue quality is better, and the extent of tissue laxity is not as severe as when you are older. However, facelifts should not be done too early because if there isn't significant tissue laxity, then there isn't much tissue to surgically lift. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Whilst I understand it doesn’t stop the ageing process. If you had a facelift at 50, will you still look younger than your natural self at say 60?

It depends on when you have the surgery, and how the surgery was performed. The results of a facelift can last 5-10 years, and generally a facelift can make you look 5-10 years younger than your chronological age. I hope this clarifies things for you.
