  • Bordering Cambodia, Chau Doc is a town draped along the banks of the Hau Giang River in Vietnams Mekong Delta. The local economy is based on the export of Basa catfish grown under colorful floating farms and on tourism
    The colored fish farms of Chau Doc are a site that you should not miss while in Vietnam .
    These rustic houses, the floats of which consist of empty metal drums, are both a place to live and a livelihood for their residents. Under each house, fish are raised in suspended metal nets. The fish flourish in their natural river habitat with the farmers feed them rice husks and fish meal along whatever scraps are handy.
    You can get a close-up look by hiring a tourist boat through one of the hotels or if you would like to book a more authentic experience with Mrs. Xuân that won't cost you the earth, she can be reached via Whatsapp on +84-944965674, just be aware that she does not speak English so prep your google translate or have a Vietnamese friend handy.
    I hope that you enjoy the video. Be sure to check out my other videos from Vietnam, and don't forget to like 👍 share comment and subscribe if you are a legend!
    Peace out
    Dano...

    How do houses float on water?

    • @danoschannel
      @danoschannel  5 місяців тому +2

      They used to be on bunched up bamboo, nowadays they are on pontoons made out of old steel or plastic drums.

    River water seems very clean, Is there the largest basa fish farm in Vietnam?

    • @danoschannel
      @danoschannel  6 місяців тому +1

      The water did look surprisingly clean, not sure if I would swim in it though 😁 I am not sure about being the largest, but it is the most colorful 🙂

      There are plenty of temples and pagodas if that intersts you, and there is also a bird sanctuary which is worth a look however I like the water so canel tours on the Mekong Delta always high on my bucket list

    Music doesn't suit your video mate

    • @danoschannel
      @danoschannel  3 місяці тому +1

      @richo1177 cheers for the comment and viewing the video. I appreciate everyone's taste in music and the content they choose to consume is different, add to that finding music that you don't get a copyright strike on and it can prove a real challenge.
