I don't usually have these street desserts, but there is a traditional sweet that I like, and it's called "bánh đậu xanh" or mung bean cake. It's mung bean cooked to perfection, mashed, sweetened, and then formed into squares and cut into smaller squares. It's slightly sweet, kinda dry, and has a unique flavor. The dryness is actually preferred because we don't just eat it by itself; we pair it with a hot cup of tea. To me this is the Vietnamese answer to English tea and cake.

Thank you for the tour. Everything looks so good! Except the soup deserts 😜. We have visited Hong-Kong a decade ago and they also have tradition desert shops with many sorts of desert soups… too exotic for me! But i love everything that contain fruits, coconut or red beans! I just made a sticky coconut rice mango desert from youtube. Tried in a night market this summer in Canada and my whole family was eating in MY bowl… nobody wanna to purchase another one as the stand was so busy and the line freaking long. So I decided to buy a 📦 of mango and here we are! Happy summer time!

It's not hard to imagine the flavor and texture....yummmm!! The crunchy sugar sticks looked very much like the peanut candy sticks that I used to eat growing up in Singapore 😋 Definitely looking forward to visiting Vietnam.
