Sonic Blast, known as G Sonic (Gソニック) in Japan, is a platforming game for the Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System that was released in November 1996. A similarly titled game, Sonic 3D Blast, was released in the same month for Sega's Genesis and Saturn consoles, though the games had different gameplay, plot, and a separate development team. In this game, you can play as Sonic or Knuckles as they go off to stop Dr. Robotnik from collecting the Chaos Emeralds again.
The8bitbeast ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/T... ) improves on the previous run by 16 seconds thanks to improved routing and the exploitation of a few minor bugs. - Ігри
“More like Sonic Slow-ass.” - James Rolfe
I like how they gave this game a time limit when that was wholly unwarranted; not like the Game Gear would last multiple time outs.
G Sonic is always an interesting title to play, especially when going for All Emeralds, where precision truly is key to one's success in getting the Extra Boss in Silver Castle; while easily one of the shortest titles in the franchise, I wholeheartedly feel that this was a respectable sendoff for the Game Gear in Japan when this came out in I996, Pre~Rendered Graphics as an art practice was not a common standard for the handheld this late into its run and I am genuinely curious as to how much more could've been produced had Aspect had more time and if other companies were still actively supporting it in other regions.
The data for the Strike Dash will be interesting to see get reimplemented in a Definitive Edition~style ROM hack, at some point, I have always wondered how this would benefit the run because it seems as if Sonic is faster on foot when compared to the Spindash (a common trait of the 08 Bit entries) and it can only be imagined how slightly faster this can make the run if it's effective; Sub~II'00"00 definitely seems possible if such an addition and maybe some other glitches can be found, though I wouldn't be surprised if the Retail Build is fully optimal now, save for potentially Silver Castle III's RNG, this is a solid TAS and it only raises our anticipations for whenever we get to see this at another Marathon or Tournament. (:

That final boss was just terrible. Its incredible someone thought this was good enough for retail.
You see Sega is actually the property of a gambling company so they don't really like actual Sega games.
i mean, you gotta see it for what it is lol as a poor kid without many games to play, this game was more than sufficient. its casual fun that can be beaten in less than 2 hours, made in the 90s on handheld console, at that lol genuinely not sure what youre getting at
@@spimbles you could certainly get pokemon, mario land 2, king of fighters ports. At not only a cheaper price. But far better value and game design. And let's not forget this came after 4 other better Sonic games on the same system. Theres no excuse, its just not good at all.
If you thought that was bad, well, just see what comes after it! (It's not in this video, but as a hint, you start with *99* Rings).
Don't get all the complaining lately, game's really not that bad. Always liked this game, even if it's my least favorite of the GG titles.
Points for sinistar though. Loved that game on midway arcade as a kid
Dude, they gave Robotnik an Egg Wukong? That's sick!
Act 2 of Blue Marble Zone looks hard. And the tas made it without getting an air bubble
That's Blue *Marine* Zone. And if you think it looks hard, well, you're supposed to get through there in 10 minutes. Oh, by the way, you're also supposed to figure out where to find the Special Stage Ring in order to grab one of five Chaos Emeralds.
I never understood the whole "LOOK!" icon before you began a level.
Pee wee Herman in a nutshell
its a mistranslation

its a- okay i stop
You gotta hand it to them, this game is in 8 bits.
Gotta go fast!
:D sonic blast kk daora
The best looking 8-bit Sonic game
But worst playing tho
@@kiwibro6454 Yes 'cause it's hard to see on the small screen. The Brazilian Master System version has a bigger view. SMSHawk has the option to render the overscan area.
Otsukorooo~n. UwU
I guess Eggman was a fan of Fantasy Zone.
That view window is so terribly small!
This game in Brazil has in Master System.
What even is this FOV 🗿
Another game that would benefit a lot from a "16-bit" remake.
The game's too ass for a remake. You're best just going the Triple Trouble 16-bit route and just making an original Sonic fangame with themes and ideas from Sonic Blast since that's essentially what Noah did.
@@souptaels That's what I wanted to say.
A remake of Sonic Blast? So you mean an elaborate shitpost?
Well, a fan remake called "Sonic Blast Next" is already in development.
@@souptaelsno it's not "too ass" (what the hell does that even mean 🙄), hence why it's being remade. This game isn't nearly as bad as some of you nerds are making it out to be lol.
Always enjoyed this game. It's one thing to not be into it, but to totally rip it apart like some people are doing... y'all need to chill. I cant help but think they just suck at the game. Lol. In that case, don't blame the game.
Even if it's my least favorite GG game, I would definitely not call it terrible.
That I could agree. I recently played it and really enjoyed it
Even for TAS standards this feels so slow!!!! I mean I thought the Chess TAS was bad but this seems worse...
I am gonna say this but I think I am the only one who appreatiat this game don't get me wrong, the graphics looks terrible even trying to be like Dk land with the big sprites and all but at least they were trying to make it 3d since they wanted to resemble Sonic 3d blast. Also if they made the sprites smaller I think it would've been way better.
And yes I depised the final boss and blue marine zone (that stage is hell) but I don't think it deserve the hate (we have Sonic GBA for crying out loud)
Watching this play through gave me a headache
Ah yes, knockoff Sonic for Windows 95 & MS-DOS. 🤣 How is it possible that even the non-game parts of this game look so low quality compared to previous Sonic games? Good TAS tho.
this game is terrible, i have a few of the gamegear sonics on 3DS, they all suck, but this one specifically is just putrid. awful generic music, everything's HUGE so you take up too much of the screen and can't even see what's coming. just a miserable experience from the very start of the first level. AVGN should really do a full episode on the handheld games
Some of those games aren't bad/total stinkers, but this one very much is. It really gives the impression that Aspect (and anyone from Sonic Team that had a level of involvement) ran out of ideas before starting anything.
