It’s crazy the different axle weight rules and axle configuration requirements in different places. I remember the first time I drove down in to Washington and saw the length of the pup tongues I was blown away… and that wasn’t even extended 😆
The new company I drive for has a last year T800 before DEF, its Cummins 565, first time I've ever drove a T800, first time I've drove a gravel truck that has power LOL Never drove a KW in my life till this week. Picked up a load in the T800 the pit put 17.5 tons in the box off I went. Truck handled it like a dream hardly knew I had a load on. I was a little overloaded, a tandem axle is only legal for 14.8 ton. Been hauling heavy for years no highway scales, gravel trucks are always heavy. Grossing 62,400lbs is pretty safe, we've got 10% grades here barely touched the brakes grossing 63,000lbs.
In KY we can gross up to 80,000 on a tri axel dump. Netting about 24-26 tons depending on the truck. That whole trailer thing… Never seen that before. Much wow, very interesting, much cool.
Good luck with the negotiations, looking like these prices and associated cost are here for a while. Informative video. We don’t run dump truck and trailer combos like that in my area, interesting how that system works.

I have 5 years experience T&T and Transfer in the general same area as you. I haven't been in one in over ten years, but I remember the fricken hammer to unlock all to well. I found a few tricks that might help to get them to unlock, but not always. After all this time, I can't believe someone hasn't come up with a fix or better design. I think that one has been around at least 30 years and it still doesn't work as intended.
Looking good w/ all the things Daum! Just think how nice the reach will work after it gets a tune-up. Thx for 2days video & maybe find a blacksmith's hammer to keep w/ U & be safe Girl.
You should try putting your trailer axle down before stretching out , or stretch when empty. The trailer I had like that was temperamental when loaded the down pressure on the tongue would bind the reach. Putting the axle down first helped and I would look for terrain features like dropping into a wheel wash or whatever would relieve some tongue weight and stretch there.
The other thing I was thinking is, could the reach locks be freed by tugging (or more likely pushing back) on the drawbar with the trailer brakes on (while the lock valve is open)? On semi trailers, sometimes it is difficult to pull a fifth-wheel if the king ping is under tension, so backing up with the trailer brakes on releases the pressure on the locking pin and allows the handle to be pulled.
You can't stretch when empty. You have to have your tongue shortened for the scales in the pits. You also need to shorten when dumping. The pressure from the load doesn't have any affect on operation.
The company I work for does plat development. Dirt crew is burning around 110 gallons per day per piece of equipment ie 30 ton off road trucks 50 ton excavators and D6 dozers
Oh and the weights I haul with a pony combo is 42.5 tons. 21 on front and 21 on rear. But I understand your configuration of the wheels has you hauling less than me. Cool let's see what else you have.

Hi Dauminique. Your truck and yourself look great and my very best wishes for GREAT SUCCESS. However, I notice some black paint on the trailer TOW BAR. Very nice. At 0.43 and 5.56 you STILL had to use a hammer. About two months ago I suggested SERVICING the actuator units on the trailer towbar. There could be a worn bushing, plain old RUST or a damaged bearing, whatever is in there. Some bit of lubricating would make it easy. All you have to do is ----open it up. clean and lubricate , reassemble . AND BINGO!!!! easy operation. No hammering.SNOW, RAIN OR SUN I did send you an email regarding some bit of PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE but you did not respond. I have been there with secondhand heavy vehicle so I can identify with these issues. Some grease on the spring lift at the rear of the truck where the body of the truck rest on it is recommended. It lessens the wear of the suspension. HAPPY TRUCKING.

Hi Dauminique was interested in why you extend draw bar in the quarry we don't have that on our trailers in Australia ,that I have seen in fact our truck trailer are getting closer so we can have bigger ,longer trailers carry more load this because we are governed by overall leng ruling hence short draw bars longer trailers more load Your fuel is still cheaper than ours Diesel is around $ 2.30 a litre YOUR channel is very interesting as a driver myself I enjoying following your days on the road . Cheers Kym Adelaide South Australia
I can't hear a squeaking seat anymore 🤗🤗 but you're using a CARPENTERS hammer, omg, my professional engineering background just kicked in 😂😂😂 just a bit of humour here, but truck and trailer looking good after the clean 👍👍🇳🇿
Reach looks like it is worn fairly good and in need of rebuild. For fuel cost yes it sucks but raise your cost to cover it and you’ll be fine. With an abundance of construction happening in your area you’ll stay busy
Expecting companies or even Owner Operators to cover increased fuel costs is rediculous. I've already decided for the upcoming paving season... if I can't collect for the increase then my wheels won't turn.
My fuel cost went from @ $2 a gallon in late 20 to $5 just the other day. Our tonnage rates are virtually unchanged. The mining companies are raising the price of the stone and haul pates on the contractors and putting our money in their pockets. It's a rough time to be an owner op. This reminds me of 08, but it's getting worse. Something has to give.
That was cool. Being on the east coast I've never dealt with a combination like yours. Too bad you have to beat it with a hammer everytime. I guess it just adds to your daily exercise routine lol.
I know how reaches work! It's cause I grew up around logging trucks ! That's how they get longer or shorter. But most of them were manual! And it helps on yours to spray them down so they don't stick or freeze up on you! I saw while you were shortening up that your reach Ned's to be cleaned abit get rid of some of that old oil or grease on it! It looked to me to be alittle to thick!
Tell me about fuel prices just today alone they went up 50¢ a gallon on diesel my profit use to be $1,000 on one run now the same run I did today my profit now is $310.00 not good I'm hoping to hold on as long as I can. But good video and good luck to you keep working as long as you can 👍👍
one thing i would do is move that rubber bungie cord behind you over time those become brittle and if they let go could take any eye out or hook ya good we dont want that. i have seen one let go at work was not a pretty sight
Not a truck driver but suggest you rent, borrow, or "steal" a pressurized steam cleaner and steam clean the tongue and other underbody parts, wire brush off any rust or corrosion. Spray paint any areas that paint is peeling and regrease the tongue assembly, and other parts. Things might work better for little out of pocket expense! Lookin good, the truck too!
Ya a lot of companies here haven't even sent out our new contracts yet for owner ops because they don't know where to set the price yet. Something needs figured out but you also lose money sitting waiting for them to get everything figured out. I'm hoping that everything will work out because I just got a new trailer 2 months ago.
A little grease on the slack adjusters and/or change the Brake Chambers. You shouldn't have always bang with a hammer. I've driven 4 axle truck and 4 axle pups and thats not a normal thing, a little prevented maintenance could help.. Federal DOT also requires the steering wheel horn button operate a city horn, not air horns or train horns.
Looks like some work on those Brake chambers for your reach slide is in order. I’m sure it’s just the way things are out there but that whole setup seems a giant money suck. A tractor trailer seems to more efficient. Of course I’m no expert. Love the channel keep trucking. Sending respects from Ohio. OH-

I remember when I first started dump truckin' diesel was .49 cents a gal. And the Slam breakfast at Denny's was $2.49. lol
Wow, what a strong horn,
Hi Dauminique was interested in why you extend draw bar in the quarry we don't have that on our trailers in Australia ,that I have seen in fact our truck trailer are getting closer so we can have bigger ,longer trailers carry more load this because we are governed by overall leng ruling hence short draw bars longer trailers more load
Your fuel is still cheaper than ours Diesel is around $ 2.30 a litre
YOUR channel is very interesting as a driver myself I enjoying following your days on the road .
You sure do make dump trucking look good 😜
Reach looks like it is worn fairly good and in need of rebuild. For fuel cost yes it sucks but raise your cost to cover it and you’ll be fine. With an abundance of construction happening in your area you’ll stay busy
Great video Dauminique
Hey scale said to do it lol love the train horn
LOVE the train horn!!
Expecting companies or even Owner Operators to cover increased fuel costs is rediculous. I've already decided for the upcoming paving season... if I can't collect for the increase then my wheels won't turn.
I feel your pain. Same thing out here.
Dat horn rocks
Great video and plus you and the truck working for the day
Gotta love those train horns !!!
Awesome videos!
I’m not into the trucking industry but I love those videos!!!
Stay safe!
Your truck sounds great! Love to hear it with the camera close when your under load.
This Awesome lady is so beautiful. And her voice matches her perfectly..beautiful, hard working woman..her man is very fortunate.
OH-
Must have been at the Martin Marietta pit. They are the only ones I know that make you honk your horn.
