Finally some insight on what putting money on the board is all about. I've heard about it but never understood why it was done or what it was about. Thanks for shedding some light on it
Same same. I realized $9,850 was a TON of money in 1920 & was trying to figure out how the h-e-double-hockey-sticks he was dropping today's equivalent of $15 million for one game 😂
Cool stuff man. Was there ever money on the board to fight someone? Like someone on the other team threw a dirty hit last time you played and whoever fights him gets the money?
Nah not really.. when someone signed was more like good for them! Especially if they got more than you it was almost better because you then know oh man maybe then I can get that… the guys who were jealous are the guys who didn’t last long, 1-2 years. U get weeded out in nhl really quick
@@Bubzp11 I hear stories about guys who refuse to go to the minors or back to the juniors, I think Drouin did that early in his career the same with Rutger Mcgroarty with the Jets.
Thanks for that info. Can you explain the part of your pay that is held in like a escrow account not sure if that’s what you call it. Great channel for all us hockey fans
What perls left out is the ugly money on the board. Knocking a player out of the game A fight Things if that nature are what I saw at minor pro training camp as a player and as an eq manager minor pro . That's where the ugly money is. Love the work your doing perls!
Awesome videos! You mention in the video that you didn't really like a guy, can you do a video on how those dynamics work in the locker room? No names needed or even teams names. At the end of the day you are both put on the team to play well together and win a championship whether you like a guy or not. How does everyone deal with always being around someone they might not enjoy, but still training and cooperating every day without animosity? It's extremely rare for the public to ever see any outward displays of conflict, but i bet there's more than some people might think. It's inevitable that when you stuff 20 random dudes in a locker room/plane/bus they're not always going to see eye to eye on everything.
When it says something like 11 - 2000 1000tr , does that mean 2000 total with 1000 to the team and 1000 to the trainers, or is it 2000 to the team and another 1000 to the trainers? Great content, I never heard about the board till now.
This would actually be the best way to do it if they did it like I think they did. They can “take it off” your paycheque so it is pre tax money that is written off as a business expense for the team, and the money the player puts up basically goes twice as far as NHL players in AB are basically at a 50% tax rate on anything over $160k. When the guys pay cash they are paying post tax income. But maybe it doesn’t work like that with contracts and stuff, I pay employees in Alberta but I don’t have experience with guaranteed contracts like NHL players have.
How is this not considered gambling on your own sport/team?? Because you pay or don't pay depending on if you win.... and the pressure from the others to put money in... that's difficult.
Very interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. However this sounds like it could backfire and give a reason for some players to want to lose, even you had your example of not feeling so bad about losing to Boston so you didn't have to pay up and it was only like $500... Sounds like someone could easily at least try to "rig" a game to some extent by paying a player or some players to play poorly, especially the lower-level players who aren't paid as much.
Hey no worries bro I don't even know what day it is half the time either😅JK, I realized u probably filmed this on a Monday. Love ur vids brother. I'm waiting for some cartel gun fight to break out haha
Love the videos and insider information but these videos would get more views if they were more concise. This one's over 21 minutes and should be between 5 and 10. Looking forward to more content though. Keep it up!
I had heard about "money on the board," but never understood what it was all about. Thanks for the explanation!
I love how authentic B.P. is. Love the videos
Hahah appreciate it! Just try to tell it how it is
Boston being the “hometown” game is hilarious

Dallas from the 1920 season???? Oh! The '19-'20 season. 🤣
I thought the same thing till he said Seguin and then it finally clicked.
Same same. I realized $9,850 was a TON of money in 1920 & was trying to figure out how the h-e-double-hockey-sticks he was dropping today's equivalent of $15 million for one game 😂
Yup that was my first thought to. I was thinking, was there a team in Dallas back then? Hahaha damn no there wasn't
You guys got it wrong I legit was talking about 1920😎😎
@@Bubzp11you did great that year I remember when you scored the game winning goal against the Hamilton Tigers in the 1920 season
Loved this I wasn’t even aware of half of what you said except the part where I probably owe you 10k 😂
Thanks for sharing your experiences and giving us a sneak peek into the dressing rooms of pro hockey.
Got any Patrick Kane stories? Would love to know what it’s like to be in the room or outside the rink with a guy like Kane or Toews
Great video! Can you do a video on your game day routine, I always wondered what nhlers did for that. Keep up the great work!
wow never knew this lmao, love the insights like always
Just found your content - thanks for the insights that every NHL fan has wondered about.
Keep up the great work!
7:30 definitely Mike Smith 😂
nope!
Gotta be a vet or eastern block guy. I'm going Hanzel or Richardson??

Nah.. was just known someone will get him
Loving these insightful videos. Thank you, keep it up.
Thanks for explaining this. I always wondered what that meant.
I'd love to see Brett be included in the videos more. He's probably got some crazy stories to tell from all over Europe.
I was wondering if there were any hockey videos at the same level as Antonelli Baseball.
Looks like I may have found one.
Thank you for taking your time to do these videos :)
Lol missin curfew podcast just covered MOTB in their episode today
this. honestly makes a lot of sense
Brendan i love your videos! My lil nephew has a question for you!
"When did you become you?"
Thanks for this Bren. I've heard about it like others have said but didn't understand it til now.
Now...go get Mom's 10K!😅
That’s hilarious ab everytime VP and FP were at the games omg😂😂
Was it weird that you would know your teammates contracts? Did you ever witness some guys jealous of other guys contracts?
Great question I’d like to hear this too

Hey I was asking for this, thanks bp
Speaking of money, you should go over how money works for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Like do you get paid if you lose or win.
What perls left out is the ugly money on the board.
Knocking a player out of the game

Really enjoying your videos. Nice to hear how it is done in the National. A career beer leaguer can always dream...

New to the channel, do you have a camera guy?
not really.. where do u live
Edmonton took it out of your paycheck?!?! Holy F buddy😂 it’s suppose to be cash always and for the boys not the ownership lol
Nah the debt collector took it out budzo

What is it like having team merchandise with your guys names on the backs and general stuff like that.
Meh, kinda whatever

My favourite player was patrick kane i would love to know your experience with him since you player in Chicago durning the kane era

You should get paid whatever you put up if you get a hat trick
Yeah no kidding… in fact it’s one better. U gotta put up next game because u GOT a hatty😂😂😭
Sorry but when it says $1000 to the trainers, does that mean that the trainers literally split $1000 if you guys win?
yep
Bro we need you on the Leafs, where are you playing next year?

Damn , all that dough flying around and I’m having trouble with the rent.
rip derick brassard
Boston= MA= New England = England… I see the logic… but dang 2 grand that’s just wrong.
What was the minimum in the American League?
100
Wouldn't make it more sense to pay up if you lose?
No, cuz he even said it’s like motivation/ like a reward- if you loose, you don’t really deserve a reward
@@goobsilby_77 I guess I need to see it through the eyes of the guys who are not on the board. In that case, it makes more sense.
