How NHL Sponsors Work? How Much Money?
Brandon, who is watching/evaluating during training camp?
Hey Bubz. Great video. What’s the off-ice stuff like with players during camp? Does the team try to get leaders to take guys under their wing? Or does the team stay “hands off” when it comes to away from the rink during camp?
I get to make my kids breakfast in the morning :)
Great stuff. Have you considered doing a show on what it’s like on the road
you had to hit me with the kells advertisements, too soon.
Is this guy using pto on oilers to make a social media career? If so kick this guy out.
Would love to hear about contract negotiations
I like how you walk down very different types of streets each video
This was sick man! Always wonder what it felt like and how everything was
Hey Bubz as a PTO does the team cover your hotel at least?
Nice! thanks for sharing and telling us newbies what you have to go through. And I did like the begining wisdom thanks for sharing!
That little message at the start of the video is truly awesome. I saw something very very similar to that and that’s what I’ve been telling myself daily to stay positive and and to help with my struggles. Very great quote. Another quote I love is and try to follow daily is “You shouldn’t worry about criticism from people you’d never ask advice from.” I think everybody should live by these. Again great content branden keep up the great videos nobody is telling stuff about the NHL like you do it’s awesome to hear.
You should become a motivational speaker
Love the behind the scenes info! What was your favorite training camp moment, and who was undercover really good at the testing?
Love this type of stuff
my brother in christ 7am - 3pm is a normal 8hr workday
He's not talking about a regular work day. He's talking about an NHL training camp day.
@@Patch3y yea… i know that. it doesn’t really sound that much more difficult than an 8 hour shift elsewhere. edit to add more context: i understand that there are physical challenges that non-professional athletes could not keep up with. however, the most challenging parts of the day do not comprise the entire day. additionally, physical exertion is what athletes train for. the other stuff may be unpleasant (blood tests, ecg, etc.) but they are not hard. It’s just frustrating to see complaints about what is a standard workday in Canada & the US when most people watching this video put in that many hours 5 days a week. A lot of people work more hours - 10-14 or more per day - and a lot of those days are hard labour, which is very physically demanding work. Those labourers do not have massage therapists and personal trainers available to help them recover afterwards. It came off a bit out of touch with reality. Especially after bringing up how he was bummed that summer was over when most people working in the US & Canada get only 2 weeks of holidays a year. Let’s just keep things in perspective, yknow? (In case anyone is wondering who these nameless & faceless people are - my fiancé regularly works 10 hour days, outdoors, installing windows. My sister’s fiancé works in the oil field overnight - his days are usually 12 hours. I work in a an office, but for two months of the year I work 10-12 hour days, and 6 months are a minimum of 9. None of us get summers off.)

Need a 2024 oilers pto 🤣🤣 will never forget that pre season in Edmonton. Should start a podcast later on would be great. The Perlini Puck Podcast triple P!!! 👍👍
Not a bad idea
Similar wisdom from my psychologist: Instead of saying “I’ll try to do X”, say “I will do X”. The caveat is only if I am actually willing to do it. Otherwise I just won’t say I’ll do it. Language is important! I wonder if you’d make a video analyzing some plays in the NHL this year. Maybe your analysis compared to a non pro player, could be a fun video :) Thanks again ❤
Thanks for doing these videos , I might be alone in this but I’d love to hear about the ice quality between arenas. When I was in midgets (now it’s 16U) I skated at Joe Louis Arena it was great ice but it was extremely soft compared to the super hard ice I skated on elsewhere and continue to in the ole beer leagues. Are all pro surfaces soft? Are they consistent between all 32 arenas ? What was your favorite arena to play in , in regards to ice quality ? I heard Edmonton (rexall place ) was legendary for good ice !
I get to go out into the oilpatch every day and interact and mingle with a bunch of dudes that are doing all they can to keep a roof over their heads and earn bank to enjoy the things they love
Less motivation please.
Another very informational video. A couple quick questions: When at training camp does the whole team stay in a hotel provided by the team or do guys get to stay in their homes if camp is in their home city? Are there mandatory days off during camp? Optional skates on days off? Do the captain and assistants try to set up some team building events at night while at camp? Thanks again for giving us an inside look at camp!
I GET to pay taxes, I GET to have a colonoscopy ..wait, this isn’t working for me
Hahaha
Haha your health will thank you 😅
Under appreciated comment of the week.

Very generous of you to offer a stick to one of us subscribers. Love your channel man.
No problem!
Great stuff as always! I remember you talked about the waivers process before but if you ever have time I'm curious if you can describe what its like when a NHL player gets sent to the minors. Do they instantly take a leadership role at the minor club, and how is the situation treated by coaches and teammates.
When you came to each new city at the start of either rookie or training camps, did you get to stay at a current players house? Or did you get to live on your own the whole time? How does navigating living situations work as a league journeyman? I live near you, we should 1v1 on the golf course before season ends.
Typically when you move to a new team you’re in the hotel for training camp until the team tells you to get you’re own place. If you’re on a big contract they would do this in the summer so you can move in before camp. If you get traded or sent down and you pay for your place on the first team, the new team will be responsible for paying for your new place. So you don’t usually get stuck with paying for 2 places in the same season.
5:32 jump scare alert
Really good video. Keep it up. How much politics do you think is involved at the NHL level? People have their "favorites " at the youth level and even choosing national teams. Is there a lot of that in the NHL? Or is it, hey that guy can play. I don't care who likes X player. Y is much better. We are taking Y. Thanks.
That quick piece of wisdom was so cool! Thanks for sharing! I actually GET TO to remind myself every day how lucky I am to get to do things that I do instead of feeling obligated to do them. You made my Friday!
Love that!
Thanks for sharing that’s so awesome to hear, thanks for providing and spreading positivity!
@@Bubzp11you currently play for the charlotte checkers right?
I love your video's of the behind the scenes of what goes on in the NHL. You don't really see stuff like this and its really cool to learn your story on and off the ice! Keep it up!
Glad you like them!
@@Bubzp11 you’re currently playing for the checkers right?
I get to come home to Reece Witherspoon
Thanks for the video. Curious as to what city you live in....you just mentioned Chicago..thx
I don’t live in one in particular I just kinda mogel around haha
Any opposing players that really got under your skin to the point you hated to face them? Love the videos, hope you get a lot more subscribers with the season about to start.
Another great vid brother! Keep er going bubz
Appreciate it!
@@Bubzp11 how much per diem in training camp if you can divulge thank you
Man I forget the daily rates. they used to give you a folder of cash at the start of camp all together... I believe during season its up around 100$ a day BUT at training camp they cover 2 meals during the day so really dinner is only thing u gotta pay for, so maybe like 50$ but don't quote me cause I forget
@@Bubzp11 thanks
@Bubzp11 that's a nice perk! Hey I'm sure you have heard of the show Overdrive on TSN in Toronto. YOUR NAME just came up pal!! At the end of the show today Noodles brought you up in talk about you lighting it up in the preseason bro! It was a really cool thing to hear you mentioned and Hayes said..oh ya he was a Team Canada junior stud. Good for you bubz! Still on the minds of the guys talking NHL hockey. Have a great day pal. Oh also loved the commentary today about the word verbiage!!! It actually works 💪
I tried out for a minor pro team in 1996 and they did zero concussion testing back then. Lol 😆 old time hockey 🏒 ha😂
I'm sure they did some concussion testing... But i know what you mean, they didn't take head injuries- back then- the same way as they do now. The concussions protocol now is a mandate in all major sports as it should be to protect the players! Because in the end of the day the players are the league!
@v4v819 I honestly do not think they did any kind of recall testing for concussion. The physical wasn't done by the team.. they sent us to the doctors office of the person that would be the team physician. This was the WPHL in Texas. Western Profesional Hockey League. Pretty sure the commission was Brad Treiliving at the time. Team was the Austin Ice Bats
What about Roger’s arena
Love these videos
Bro dipped without hesitation 8:14

What an event! Definitely a new spin on golf ⛳️ love to see it 😎
Definitely!!
you get these comments all the time but still, thank you for making these videos <3 it's so cool to learn something new about being a pro hockey player every week! that being said can you make a video about the media training that you guys get? It's fascinating and sometimes even annoying how most players hide their personalities so well
Thanks bro! Appreciate the love... Well the funny thing is there is no media training. When I was coming up it was 1 thing about it at a NHLPA event I went to and Arizona did a little thing at rookie camp 1 out of 3 years I went to the camps... So most of the stuff is learning as you go and 90% of guys prob won't really wanna talk that's why It comes off that way
@@Bubzp11 whaaat no way, so the whole thing is a myth?😂
Fun video! I know little about golf, but found it curious @15:22, an usher is imploring the crowd to be quiet, holding a "Shhhhh" sign, yet music is blaring. BTW, next time you do a Q & A, I'll ask your thoughts on music during hockey games. Do you have a preference? I love the songs, but do you get tired of Livin' On a Prayer, Welcome to the Jungle, Thunderstruck, (which even made its way into this video)?
Yeah man I was wondering that myself I think it was just like almost a tradition in golf per se to hold up the signs maybe that's why they do it?😂 but honestly thoughts on music during hockey hmmmmmm.... I mean I guess I can't say because ive never done it, but id def wanna try it!! This year I played for a coach who used music in practices which ive NEVER seen and I loved that certainly made the vibe super chill
@@Bubzp11 Thanks! I've seen golf on TV, and noticed the announcers almost whispering during putts. I didn't know if the noise was more acceptable during drives. I was referring more to music played in hockey arenas during stoppages, goal songs, etc. I love the tradition of fans at NHL games singing Livin' On a Prayer, and was just wondering what players thought. I remember reading Roberto Luongo joking about Chicago's goal song (Chelsea Dagger) because he heard it so often.😉 I imagine players are so dialed in to the game, they hardly notice; though I do recall you saying you like the goal song in Nashville. Oh and your GF's impression of you was superb!
NICE!
Thank you! Cheers!
Always cool to hear about your perspective and experience Brendan keep it up!
Appreciate it!
Didn't think I'd ever see a former NHLer doing a vlog in the exact same town I live in. I went to high school at the school that's only about a mile west of that course.
Love it!!
That tee shot from Bubba had some curious footwork 😂
Legit right
I grew up in nw suburb on chi town in palatine so it's awesome to see anything in Chicago. Another great post brother!!
Really interesting to see a pro athlete get excited to see pro athletes from a different sport. You seemed to get as excited about seeing these golfers as we non pro hockey players would be to see you.
Totally!!!
Looks like you enjoyed your time there!
The best!!
