    Hey Bubz. Great video. What’s the off-ice stuff like with players during camp? Does the team try to get leaders to take guys under their wing? Or does the team stay “hands off” when it comes to away from the rink during camp?

    That little message at the start of the video is truly awesome. I saw something very very similar to that and that’s what I’ve been telling myself daily to stay positive and and to help with my struggles. Very great quote. Another quote I love is and try to follow daily is “You shouldn’t worry about criticism from people you’d never ask advice from.” I think everybody should live by these. Again great content branden keep up the great videos nobody is telling stuff about the NHL like you do it’s awesome to hear.

      @@Patch3y yea… i know that. it doesn’t really sound that much more difficult than an 8 hour shift elsewhere. edit to add more context: i understand that there are physical challenges that non-professional athletes could not keep up with. however, the most challenging parts of the day do not comprise the entire day. additionally, physical exertion is what athletes train for. the other stuff may be unpleasant (blood tests, ecg, etc.) but they are not hard. It’s just frustrating to see complaints about what is a standard workday in Canada & the US when most people watching this video put in that many hours 5 days a week. A lot of people work more hours - 10-14 or more per day - and a lot of those days are hard labour, which is very physically demanding work. Those labourers do not have massage therapists and personal trainers available to help them recover afterwards. It came off a bit out of touch with reality. Especially after bringing up how he was bummed that summer was over when most people working in the US & Canada get only 2 weeks of holidays a year. Let’s just keep things in perspective, yknow? (In case anyone is wondering who these nameless & faceless people are - my fiancé regularly works 10 hour days, outdoors, installing windows. My sister’s fiancé works in the oil field overnight - his days are usually 12 hours. I work in a an office, but for two months of the year I work 10-12 hour days, and 6 months are a minimum of 9. None of us get summers off.)

    Similar wisdom from my psychologist: Instead of saying “I’ll try to do X”, say “I will do X”. The caveat is only if I am actually willing to do it. Otherwise I just won’t say I’ll do it. Language is important! I wonder if you’d make a video analyzing some plays in the NHL this year. Maybe your analysis compared to a non pro player, could be a fun video :) Thanks again ❤

    Thanks for doing these videos , I might be alone in this but I’d love to hear about the ice quality between arenas. When I was in midgets (now it’s 16U) I skated at Joe Louis Arena it was great ice but it was extremely soft compared to the super hard ice I skated on elsewhere and continue to in the ole beer leagues. Are all pro surfaces soft? Are they consistent between all 32 arenas ? What was your favorite arena to play in , in regards to ice quality ? I heard Edmonton (rexall place ) was legendary for good ice !

A couple quick questions: When at training camp does the whole team stay in a hotel provided by the team or do guys get to stay in their homes if camp is in their home city? Are there mandatory days off during camp? Optional skates on days off? Do the captain and assistants try to set up some team building events at night while at camp? Thanks again for giving us an inside look at camp!

    When you came to each new city at the start of either rookie or training camps, did you get to stay at a current players house? Or did you get to live on your own the whole time? How does navigating living situations work as a league journeyman? I live near you, we should 1v1 on the golf course before season ends.

    • @111190p
      @111190p 11 годин тому

      Typically when you move to a new team you’re in the hotel for training camp until the team tells you to get you’re own place. If you’re on a big contract they would do this in the summer so you can move in before camp. If you get traded or sent down and you pay for your place on the first team, the new team will be responsible for paying for your new place. So you don’t usually get stuck with paying for 2 places in the same season.

BTW, next time you do a Q & A, I'll ask your thoughts on music during hockey games. Do you have a preference? I love the songs, but do you get tired of Livin' On a Prayer, Welcome to the Jungle, Thunderstruck, (which even made its way into this video)?

    • @Bubzp11
      @Bubzp11 3 дні тому

      Yeah man I was wondering that myself I think it was just like almost a tradition in golf per se to hold up the signs maybe that's why they do it?😂 but honestly thoughts on music during hockey hmmmmmm.... This year I played for a coach who used music in practices which ive NEVER seen and I loved that certainly made the vibe super chill

      @@Bubzp11 Thanks! I've seen golf on TV, and noticed the announcers almost whispering during putts. I didn't know if the noise was more acceptable during drives. I was referring more to music played in hockey arenas during stoppages, goal songs, etc. I love the tradition of fans at NHL games singing Livin' On a Prayer, and was just wondering what players thought. I remember reading Roberto Luongo joking about Chicago's goal song (Chelsea Dagger) because he heard it so often.😉 I imagine players are so dialed in to the game, they hardly notice; though I do recall you saying you like the goal song in Nashville.
