Great video! For anyone doing this, here's a solution for not cutting the motor gear cover. Instead of using the kit supplied endlinks, use the "Tamiya 5mm short adjuster" 50797. They are $2.60 from Tamiya, and since they are "open", they allow installation of the cover with no clearance issues or cutting. 5:26
It is so clever, how YR designed the suspension so that it KEEPS the same track width, but gets rid of those ridiculous 1/2" long control arms!! Another great presentation from you!
It is goood to go look at 5 year old Videos... Very relevant to me now! 👍👍 I forgot just HOW good this Yeah Racing Long Arm Kit really is. And this is the first time I think, that the 90mm MST Tyres actually look BIG!! 😜 A perfect fit for these little Cars, I must find a set. Now that I have built the stock Suspension with the 20mm Arms - it's obvious that the YR Kit is almost necessary to do. It now has a TRF Racing look to it, with performance to match!!
This is an excellent video. All the tips and tricks are explained, shown, and the mods needed to make it WORK. The music is non-intrusive, dead air kills videos. Thanks for the link to Yeah Racing, and the addition of the taller tires makes it look so much better. Did they hurt the acceleration? This video is why I will buy this car. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Have just brought the Tamiya Ford Escort Mk.2 Rally RC Car on the MF01x chassis. If I buy this upgrade will I still be able to use the escort Mk2 shell? Look forward to hearing back from you. Great video 🙂
Many thx for your sharing with details explanation. I am looking forward to have such modification with my MF01 X. Pls keep it up for your good sharing.👍👍👍
I bought this upgrade. It came with parts for several different chassis, and was difficult to figure out what parts were needed. It also was missing peices, had two left front knuckles and the rear knuckles won't line up.
Another class video Matteo, informative and detailed. Plus you must have the best manicured hands on youtube .... lol Keep them coming my friend, cant wait to see the next one ...... Tamiya 2CV maybe????
You should never super glue the servo saver to the horn. It defeats the purpose (unless you don't mind destroying your steering servo any time you impact your wheels into something). The problem with the play that you noticed could've been fixed in a number of different ways. 1. Either your screw was too loose and simply needed tightening. 2. If your screw keeps coming loose, you could fit a small serrated or spring washer to prevent untightening. 3. Your horn screw may be too long. Find a shorter screw or file down your screw to size. I'm also not a fan of locking diffs, but at least there is no potential for damaging anything by doing that. Nice vids, btw. ✔️😉👍
Thanks for your feedback! First, all your tips are good but not the problem of the play. As i mentioned in the video it should be used a high quality servo for this modification. This will not be destroyed. And I used the car more as a trail runner, not a racing machine. And on the trails you have to use your steering sensible...
Your chassis reviews are "just right"! I'm interested in several Tamiya bodies and was wondering if there is a list of body wheelbases and chassis wheelbases, so we know which bodies may "fit" which chassis.
Great video. I realize I'm watching this very late. If one has a limited budget for enhancements to the MF-01X chassis (Long Span Suspension is out of the question) which one is the best to be done for offroading: - Ball Bearings set Tamiya TA-54643, - CVA Super mini Shocks, or - Bigger/softer Tires
Aiii ..
once again another great job love the detail video and comparison between the different setups, i too have the jimney and love it, i am going to steal your idea on the red jimney and use the rc4wd mtz tires and rims they add a better scale appearance
The MF-01X doesn't come with oil shocks or ball bearings in the kit? It's disappointing to see the diffs are not sealed. This is 2016, all RC diffs should be able to hold oil now. MST makes aluminum servo savers that fit very tightly and are adjustable. You should consider using one on your truck. I use them on all my Tamiya cars.
+Shawn Elliott Yes it comes without ball bearings and oil shocks. But please consider the price of this kit! I had no issues with the diffs on Tamiyas. It's hard to believe a diff can hold the oil inside... Thanks for the tip with the servo saver, I'll check them!
***** You're right, those diffs definitely can't hold oil. That is disappointing, because I like tuning my diffs with oil. The MF-01X costs $200 in the US. That is the same price as a Traxxas Slash. The MF-01X looks nicer, but the Traxxas Slash has sealed diffs and metal gears.
In the US, the MF-01X kit costs $202. I don't think there is an RTR version here. www.tamiyausa.com/items/radio-control-kits-30/m-chassis-cars-36350/rc-suzuki-jimny-jb23-58614 Tamiya products are very expensive here. I have several XV-01 cars and they cost about $600 including upgrades.
+Shawn Elliott That's crazy. But the prices on Tamiya USA website are catalogue prices not the price on the market. My friend and I used the YR suspension kit. It works very good. I was surprised you said the instructions are good. We thought the instructions were not very clear. We have put together many cars and were able to figure it out. I do not think this modification is for beginners because the instructions are not very clear.
Yes, you're right. But in my opinion beginners should not do this modifications. Better to let it in stock condition and earn some experience. Later, some modifications are easy to do.
Cool! I am glad you agree with me. Awesome videos! Did you know that Tamiya is about to release a Citroen 2CV car for radio control. I hope you can do a video on that one. Kit number is 58655. It will be on the M5 chassis. I also have 1 video on youtube. Not as nice as yours, if you want check it out. Thanks and have an awesome day.
Wow! I would like to get one too. This car was in a James Bond movie. Can hardly wait for Tamiya to release the kit. I have to admit you do not see this car in the USA.
When everything is new the parts are very tight together and especially the ball connectors clamp a bit. But after the first or second drive, the parts move perfect together.
I am noticing the increased articulation of the arms, which is very nice. But will it not become a problem as the wheels now are wider/outside the body?
TOP!!!
Seems like a lot of people are having problems with loose Tamiya servo savers. Everyone seems to have a different solution. I tried super glue on my grasshopper but it eventually gave out. I saw a guy using rubber tubing around the outside, however, I've found another way to fix this problem without much effort. I use a leftover self tapping screw from the Tamiya kit and a small washer in place of the machine screw that comes with my servo. It will hold the servo saver together just fine. BTW, I noticed a Futaba S3001 servo installed. I've been using S3004 servos without any problems so far but I hear that the S3001 has better "precision". One of my Tamiya's came with a S3003 servo and I feel like it doesn't always center properly. Im just wondering if the S3001 servo is really worth the extra money? 🤔
Thanks for your good feedback and tipp! I do not know the differences of all these Futaba Servos, sometimes I use a 3001 because my hobby store have it for good price.
Does anybody know what tamiya buggy wheels and tires will fit the MFO1X and clear the rear hub carriers? I have a MF01X that I built with rear wheel drive and I want to put a set of tamiya spiked buggy tires and wheels because they are wider and will give better grip while still being more scale looking than other options. Anyone know which kit wheels could fit it? Buggy champ? Hotshot? Hornet? Grasshopper? Plasma edge? Sand viper? Frog?
As first you need to check if the wheels have 12 mm hex. Older Buggy wheels like the Hotshot Frog and Buggy Champ have other systems and these will not fit directly to a modern 12mm hex
Great video. I'm still undecided - standard. Tamiya suspension with oil dampers and 90mm tires, or ful Yeah suspension upgrade. I've read that the Yeah long arm upgrade gives you 36% (not my number) more suspension travel, but that probably translates to c. 5mm worth of extra travel. Is this upgrade really worth it relative to the capabilities of this m-type kit? Will it significantly improve its cross country capabilities (trail not crawl)? About to start my built.
Matteo's RC Movies Thanks for your reply - I've bit the bullet on the long-span suspension kit and ordered the upgrade. Looking forward to the install. Already using the Yeah shocks, which are fine. The MF01x is a very nice kit, but after upgrades it might have made more sense to get something more capable like the MST CMX / CFX. Of course rc is not about rationality :) Keep up the good work!!
Do they make these types of parts for the king Blackfoot please comment back I am very curiou It would be nice thank you for this video I hope you come at back to me and let me know one way or the other
Hello Matteo, great video as always👍 I'm interested in this chassis, for this HR mod, and it's adjustability; I just wonder how it will do with something a little torque-ier than a Sport Tuned, and would the drivetrain handle slightly larger tires, and all the weight from the upgrades? I'm thinking favorite car of all time build, so I must know all it's secrets. Slipper clutch?
Hello Matteo, thank you very much for your videos. this is very interesting. Where did you get the interior for the Mercedes G320? I would be very happy to hear from you.
In the comparison you can see the Jimny with the 1.55 Mikey Thomson. I think this ones are limit for the Jimny. I think it should be possible to use bigger, but I don't like it too much. Here are the 1.55 installed and the fenders a bit trimmed: ua-cam.com/video/NCRViRuj3Zo/v-deo.html
Ok indeed it s enough with the 1.55 tires. MST tires will be too big. Thanks a lot for your answer. Keep doing some great work I love what you do. Inspiration for me
Hey Matteo it's Ed bothering you one more time lol. My question is will the yeah racing long arm MF-X01 KITfit the Beetle rally body style with out sticking out of the body? Thanks bro bro . P.s got my BIGWIG finished no problems. Thanks for the reply.
Matteo's RC Movies thanks for your kind reply. I just ordered the Yeah Racing parts and also some Tamiya upgrade parts. Hope I can get some Active Hobby parts for the MF01X when I go to Japan tomorrow.
Having a hard time judging by the video. I can see the improved suspension geometry, esp in relation to the angle of the axles as the suspension moves. But did the Yeah Racing long span arms increase suspension travel (or is it the same)?
+Mark Vonville Thanks! Glad you like my videos! Yes I have the truck version of XV-01. ua-cam.com/video/zubqkRR8qXo/v-deo.html It's a interesting chassis, something between a offroad and onroad car. But both of them not realy...
LG Matteo
Hi Matteo, nice review !! :) I bought this upgrade but a have little problem with geometry. Do you use stock O-ring (black) in the Joint Cup? Its all about rear part. The Shaft Swing cant spin (horizontal shaft posicion) or will fall out from joint cup (down posicion). Thanks for any advice ! :)
No, as I remeber right I have no o-rings in the joint cubs. With installed dampers the movement of the swing is limited and so, the shaft will not fall out.
It's because of the grip on loose ground and off roading. With open diffs, if one tire have no ground contact the traction is away. But for on road is better to let the diffs open.
Merci & Gruss
Ahh, you are a very attentive viewer! That's correct, on the video I made this mistake, but after I've noticed and corrected it, the video was already finished! Thanks for your attention!
Hey Matteo, how did you lift the actual body up of this chassis? I just bought an MF-01X Mercedes G 320 and my body was rubbing on the wheels - I had to use body spacers but even then it is very close. Thanks for reading and thanks for making the video.
Matteo's RC Movies I think i do. Mine is at the top height. I plan on having a friend 3D print extenders for me. I am also using the clips where it seems you are using a magnet mount which might account for more height of the body. Thanks for your reply!

It depends on the tires. With small tires should be possible. You have to lift up the body and cut a bit the fenders. On this video are 1.55 wheels and tires (diameter 84mm) with original arms: ua-cam.com/video/NCRViRuj3Zo/v-deo.html
Nice mods. Did the suspension increase the track width? PS, you should get yourself a Tamiya Shock Pump. One of the best tools I have. Keep up the great videos my friend!
hi matteo, another great video, the upgrades really change chassis stance. it looks a bit meaner. how much, if you don't mind, was the yeah racing 🏁 parts. lookin forward for the running vids. 😀 👍 👍

NFA RC You can buy it at RC Mart: www.rcmart.com/aluminum-longspan-suspension-arms-knuckles-performance-upgrade-tami-p-63128.html?cPath=595_744_1760
Your suspension looked like it was binding a lot. The suspension should drop under its own weight when the wheels and dampers are removed (see 4:52)

I am noticing the increased articulation of the arms, which is very nice. But will it not become a problem as the wheels now are wider/outside the body?
No, the wheels are on the same position. The mounting positions on the c-hubs is different, this makes the better articulation.

@@Matteomeier yes this is what I am afraid of!
I’m building the MF01x Beetle. Building with lager tires and GF-01 arms etc. Building an MF01 Xtreme 😊
Nice one😊 Why did you use the short end connector on the dampers? With Yeah R. set, is it not space for a longer damper?
Very good work! I'm looking forward to see it running ... :-)
Thanks, Movie is on the way...
Hi. Please can you tell me what Shock Absobers you have fitted. Thanks very much.
Tamiya Mini CVA Oil Dampers.
Thanks! Yes, in my opinion is a great improvement and worth the money.
Of course rc is not about rationality :)
Keep up the good work!!
Do they make these types of parts for the king Blackfoot please comment back I am very curiou It would be nice thank you for this video I hope you come at back to me and let me know one way or the other
Do you have a part number list for what you used? Great video, by the way.
Thanks! In the video description you can find all the informations.
Very good explanation and excellent video !!
Merci!
Does locking the diff have effect on pavement?
Great job there, Matteo. Those black rims, are they also 52mm diameter? Will Tamiya tires fit on them?
Thanks Tomas! Yes, the tires in the video are the original tires from the kit.
Aha, ok, but the rims/ wheels are different from the stock, right?
Yes, these are from MST, the bigger tires at the end of the video are also from MST (from the CMX)
Thanks
This upgrade looks good. For now I just need to get CVA shocks for my MF01X. Have you ever tried the 55mm Yeah Racing shocks?
Thanks! No, not tried yet, but Yeah Racing have great stuff!
Hello Matteo, great video as always👍
I'm interested in this chassis, for this HR mod, and it's adjustability; I just wonder how it will do with something a little torque-ier than a Sport Tuned, and would the drivetrain handle slightly larger tires, and all the weight from the upgrades? I'm thinking favorite car of all time build, so I must know all it's secrets. Slipper clutch?
MF-01X is a small little car, with limited off road capabilities. Be careful not to overtax it. It have no slipper clutch.
Hello Matteo, thank you very much for your videos. this is very interesting. Where did you get the interior for the Mercedes G320? I would be very happy to hear from you.
My Interiors are selfmade, how I do this you can see it here for example: ua-cam.com/video/W985ThG74do/v-deo.html
Hi Matteo, did you try the MST tires on the Jimny? I think about using them on mine, but I have a doubt for the size.
Inspiration for me
Your accent is amazing, subbed just to hear your voice XD
😊 I never expect this... 😂 Thanks!
Is that car body really a Cabriolet or just lookalike? ie is it possible to remove the roof and put it back?
The rear cloth roof its only an imitation, not real. It's made with a matte varnish.
Please ADD the CVA Super Mini Shocks Reference
Thanks
Thanks for your advice. Added in the video description.
Hey Matteo it's Ed bothering you one more time lol. My question is will the yeah racing long arm MF-X01 KITfit the Beetle rally body style with out sticking out of the body? Thanks bro bro . P.s got my BIGWIG finished no problems. Thanks for the reply.
I think this with the Beetle should be not a problem. Because the Yeah Racing kit changes not the wheelbase and width...
Thanks for your great video. With the new arms, what length of dampers can I use?
Thanks! You can use the CVA Dampers mini and super mini. Of course you can use longer dampers but this needs some modifications on the damper holders.
Matteo's RC Movies thanks for your kind reply. I just ordered the Yeah Racing parts and also some Tamiya upgrade parts. Hope I can get some Active Hobby parts for the MF01X when I go to Japan tomorrow.
Wow. That looks great Matteo. 👍😀✌️️
Good to hear this! Thanks Tybo!
hi, nice video, the suspention kit is good for tl01?
Thanks! This fits only on the M-Chassis cars, you have to use the set for TL-01.
Nice Little build matto , I'd love to see a video of your collection one day:)
Thank you!
Having a hard time judging by the video. I can see the improved suspension geometry, esp in relation to the angle of the axles as the suspension moves. But did the Yeah Racing long span arms increase suspension travel (or is it the same)?
Yes the suspension travel is increased also.
Thanks for the info! Keep up the great video's!
very well explained! Thumbs up!
Thanks my swiss friend!
Thank you very much for your review!
Your welcome! A good product deserves attention!
Beautiful video!!! Excellent suspension)))
+RC383 Thank you!
When I lock diffs, I simply use hot glue. The diff is locked, and you can simply remove the glue if you wan't the diff to be open again.
Very good tip! Thanks! 👍😊
Awesome video! So tasty and clearly shown the mods! :-) Wonderful!
Thanks Filip!
love your videos matteo! do you have the xv01 tamiya? & if you do whats the ups & downs of the xv01?
+Mark Vonville Thanks! Glad you like my videos! Yes I have the truck version of XV-01. ua-cam.com/video/zubqkRR8qXo/v-deo.html It's a interesting chassis, something between a offroad and onroad car. But both of them not realy...
I used the Same aluminum kit for my mf-01x and the rear shafts keep falling out when I turn left or right
I think there must be something wrong
nice work brother 👍 👍 👍 👍, thank for sharing
Thanks for your good feedback!
Looking good! The CVA's really make a big difference! the suspension set up is it the same width as the stock one or does it make it get wider a bit?
Thanks! No, the width is still the same.
Cool!
LG Matteo
very nice , quick a try
+kazacorpora Merci monsieur!
Thanks alot for your response! :). Maybe that was the problem.
Hi there can I ask why you would lock the diff what benefit would u get from this others than stripping gears
It's because of the grip on loose ground and off roading. With open diffs, if one tire have no ground contact the traction is away. But for on road is better to let the diffs open.
hi Matteo, how you doing chap? great video. what body mount system do you use?
Thanks Neomax, everything is good, hope on you too! I used magnetic holders from Integy: www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=23033#.WGl6TKMlx-U
Salü
Super video. Was für felgen hast du montiert? Gruss
Danke!
Merci & Gruss
hi Matteo!
noticed u have put the rear hub carrier on wrong side😂... see it at 5:13".
please make correction..
have a nice day yoo!😉
Ahh, you are a very attentive viewer! That's correct, on the video I made this mistake, but after I've noticed and corrected it, the video was already finished! Thanks for your attention!
Gutes Video!
Danke! Das sind die MST Felgen vom CMX Bausatz. www.rc-mst.com/product_info.php?class_sn=24&class_sn2=102&sn=2644
Vielen Dank für die Antwort, Matteo! Mache weiter so!;)
Lieber matteo.

Awesome work👍🏽
Thanks!
Hey Matteo, how did you lift the actual body up of this chassis? I just bought an MF-01X Mercedes G 320 and my body was rubbing on the wheels - I had to use body spacers but even then it is very close. Thanks for reading and thanks for making the video.
Hey Denis, with the stock body mounts is very easy to lift it with the clips. Maybe you need new body posts.
Matteo's RC Movies I think i do. Mine is at the top height. I plan on having a friend 3D print extenders for me. I am also using the clips where it seems you are using a magnet mount which might account for more height of the body. Thanks for your reply!
can you run regular square hard case batteries sorry
Regular is a wide description for lipo hard case. I use this: teamorion.com/de/akkus-de/lipo-de/hobby-stick-de/rocket-sport-4200-lipo-7-4v-tamiya-deans-trx-ec3-venom-plug-de/
Matteo, will 1.55" rims clear the Yeah Racing suspension?
Yes, this should be no problem.
+Matteo's RC Movies thank you!
If i may ask, what tires are you using for the jimny?
On the Jimmy are Mickey Thompson 1,55 Baja
store.rc4wd.com/RC4WD-Mickey-Thompson-155-Baja-MTZ-P3-Scale-Tires_p_1433.html
does anyone have any idea how to order this yeahracing kit here in europe??? They seem to ship only to trusted stores in bulk and i can only find it in american webstores :(
RCMart send it to europe without problems: www.rcmart.com/aluminum-longspan-suspension-arms-knuckles-performance-upgrade-tami-p-63128.html?cPath=595_744_1760
hi there, what brushless system would you recomment for this model?
Only a moderate one, 2s with about 3000kV
New Video ! Yes ;-) Grüße Jimmy
Danke Jimmy!
cost of this upgraded parts kit? (i cant open the link in description)
About 70 USD www.rcmart.com/aluminum-longspan-suspension-arms-knuckles-performance-upgrade-tami-p-63128.html?cPath=595_744_1760
I wish someone would make a front and like that for the king Blackfoot I would definitely buy it please comment back
is it able to put 1.9 tires on original arms?
Yes, this is possible.
is it also possible on jimny body? will the 1.9 front tire rubbing the chassis and body while turning?(with original arms)
It depends on the tires. With small tires should be possible. You have to lift up the body and cut a bit the fenders. On this video are 1.55 wheels and tires (diameter 84mm) with original arms: ua-cam.com/video/NCRViRuj3Zo/v-deo.html
How are the aluminum cvd's
They are good. But you have to retighten the small scrub screws, maybe use a bit loctite.
Nice mods. Did the suspension increase the track width? PS, you should get yourself a Tamiya Shock Pump. One of the best tools I have. Keep up the great videos my friend!
Thank you! No the width is the same. Now, I have to check this Shock Pump!
hi matteo, another great video, the upgrades really change chassis stance. it looks a bit meaner.
how much, if you don't mind, was the yeah racing 🏁 parts.
lookin forward for the running vids. 😀 👍 👍
Thanks, glad you like it! The parts are about 70 bugs
White truck is this for
