A review of Tamiya's new MF-01X chassis. And a comparison between M-06, CC-01 and MF-01X chassis.
Product information: www.tamiya.com/...
Thank you,I'VE just purchased the beetle Rally on this chassis.
This has given me a insight into the build and hop-up options.
Cool, the Rally Beetle is on my list too! Thanks for your feedback! 😊
IMHO Tamiya puts the most thought into their RC models design build. They are and alway's will be a big part of my childhood.
+TboneNYC10 Thats true! Thanks for your comment!
Matteo, another fantastic presentation! I'd love to get one of those, if I could.... It looks like a perfect little park/trail runner. Also, I MAY still have a old style, BMW 2002 body, which seems PERFECT for this chassis!
~ Carmine
Super Info's 👍🏻 Danke! So was Bitte öfters. Toller Direktvergleich der Chassis. Und wie immer: ein Top-Video von Matteo 😉
+Michael Thomas Vielen Dank, freut mich!
My Friend Matteo... I had to watch these Videos again! I am building a MF-01X finally, and expect great Tips from these. 👌😉
I bought only a Chassis Kit, and bought from England, a Morris Minor Body in 210mm Wheelbase. I've got an Axial Wraith and SCX-10 II for heavy Off-Road... This will be a fun, light Rally, Dirt path Car. I wish I find a Jimny, but they are nowhere to be found. 😖😭😭
Now I will watch your other Videos on this Car. Have a great Week!
Great to hear Carmine! Have fun! 👍👍😊
+Otto Mazzolino Grazie mille Otto!
Thank you for this review. I didn't know this chassis before but your explanations are very clear and interesting even though I'm not good to speak english.
See you soon, always with great pleasure.
+Binbin Ben Thanks a lot! I think the same with my english, sounds terrible and of course not correct. But think many people can understand what I mean.
As always first class. You make me want to buy one.
+rcBitz Thanks Martin!
rcBitz ikr?
This is the first time I've seen anything about this model. It looks like the perfect solution for an M-Chassis sized rally car.
I have an old, modified TB01 chassis with a Mini body, but even with the M03 steering arms and driveshafts, it's too wide for M-Chassis bodies. I also have an Suzuki Swift M03M in its box that I've nevet got around to building.
The 205 - 225 - 239 mm WB is very interesting, It means a lot of the old HPI Mini and True Ten bodies (like the VW Polo) will also fit!
+Cian Ha Yes, thats right! Thanks for your comment and have fun with your models!
I know it's years later, but I am building a long wheel base now. I want to make a pavement racer out of it. Any must haves other than shocks and bearings?
Such a great explanation! One question: do the 3 different chassis extension pices + drive shafts come included in the kit, or do we have to buy them separately?
Thank you! The blocks are included, but the drive shafts have to be buy seperatly.
Great video and info! Thanks, great video's as always Matteo's!
Thanks for your nice feedback!
Great video. I am going to wait for more aftermarket parts. I would like to tune it for a combination of road and gravel driving ...like a modern day rally car. This will do a lot better than a TT01 that's for sure.
+Johny Piston Yes, sounds good! Thanks for your comment!
i'm keen to get my first Tamia kit!
i like the comparison in this video it helps me lots!!
the cco1 looks like the best chassis to me if i find a good deal id like to get one!!!
Nice review video!! It's good that this chassis is capable of changing wheel base!
+BuoyEngine Thanks! Yes, I think Tamiya will release a lot of different cars on this chassis! Thats good!
Hey Matteo, Great Video.
I´ve got the MF01X a few weeks ago and tuned it for more offroad use.
Its very similar to the TL01 so i used the TL01 Suspension and 1,55 Wheeels.
I also locked the Diffs. Its great fun as a little Crawler/Scaler.
You can see the build on my Channel.
Keep up the great work, greetings from Austria ^^
+Interceptor1986 Thank you! Wow, your Jimny is a little Monster!
Weiter so!:)
LG Maurice
+Maurice RC Productions Auf jeden Fall!
RC Showdown:)
+Maurice RC Productions Vielen Dank Maurice!
Great review keep them coming my friend....merry Christmas!
Thanks Dave! Wish you nice holidays and all the best in 2018! 😊
Very good presentation !! Excellent video !!
+sator rotas Merci beaucoup!
Great videos on this truck Matteo, I am curious though, where did you source the driver from? He kinda looks like one of the "Dad" figures I've seen for doll houses, but in more modern clothing.
+GreenJeep1998 Thanks! I use the driver figure from Tamiya: www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=54416
+Matteo's RC Movies Cool, thanks!
Very nice review Matteo! Well done!
+BJ40films Thanks!
Hey Mateo nice video! Are you going to review the Tamiya GF-01 Heavy Dump Truck?
Keep it up man!
+Night Hawk Thanks! Have to decide later about this dump truck, but looks interesting for sure!
Thanks for this Matteo. Useful to see the size comparison with the other chassis. It looks like this might be a good chassis for a rally car ? How is it with grit and stones getting into the steering and other moving parts ?
+Pete Wylie Thanks! Yes, I think it's a good rally chassis. No matter with stones, the drive shaft and sealed gearbox works good.
The servo saver was rubbish. The the tub housing esc and servo were debris collectioro
Hi Matteo!
What colors did you use on this shell? Looks really good.
+MrTRISTANCOOL Thanks, Its Tamiya PS 15 metallic red and PS 23 gunmetal
(Nostalgie :-)
what battery do you use in this chassis?
2s lipo from Team Orion
teamorion.com/de/akkus-de/lipo-de/hobby-stick-de/rocket-sport-4200-lipo-7-4v-tamiya-plug-de/
so considering about the off-road capability, cc-01 is better, considering about the speed on the flat road, mf01x is faster?
+yimin chai Yes, thats right!
+Matteo's RC Movies OK, but it does confuse me right now. Last year I got my first rc: Tamiya DT-03, 2wd buggy. It's fun and with high performance. Now I want to try something different and sth. 4wd. MF01X seems cool, but the tamiya M chassis just looks like so normal, no special CC01 is sth different, like what I mean. however, I prefer some chassis with faster speed and better off-road capability. Which one will you recommend me to choose in my situation? I really have no answer right now! THANK YOU.
yimin chai Maybe this one can be a good for you: www.rcjaz.com/tamiya-58497-110-rc-vajra-4wd-racing-truck-p-90036653.html
*****
thank you for your recommend. It looks like a very powerfull and high performance chassis. But I don't like the shot turck type now, they just like my 2wd buggy too much. I prefer some body more like the real car, looks more realistic. Thanks anyway!
yimin chai Ahh thats good, so I recommend a CC-01 car
achso, super Video, DANKE :)
Super! Weiter so! ;)
+RC Showdown Das find ich gut! Vielen Dank für deinen Kommentar!
Hi Matteo, i wanna ask you one thing.
Can you give me please the info about the pieces i need just for rear transmission of this model? I need just the rear transmission pieces with internal gear in order to build a Vw Kombi offroad (2wd) with handmade rear aluminium suspensions with longitudinal arms and handmade torsion bar, and front sand scorcher suspensions.I will use the Maisto VW kombi bodyshell.
Here you can see the manual, from page 26 are all the parts listed. www.tamiya.de/CommonFiles/Dickie-Tamiya/PDM_Products/Tamiya/300058614/300058614_Bauanleitung_MF-01X.pdf
Matteo's RC Movies thank you matteo! I've just checked if you replied.. And after 5 minutes you did it! 😅
Matteo, you confirm that on page 26 are all the part for rear transmission? Also all screws, gears, etc?
You need also the screw bags on page 27. Bag A, B, and C. I think you should better buy a complete car. All the spare parts together are higher then the price of a complete car. tamico.de/Tamiya-Suzuki-Jimny-JB23-4WD-MF-01X-Bausatz-58614
Matteo's RC Movies i don't think so, i have screws. I just need transmission with gears. No suspension
This chassis would be perfect for a Rally GR Yaris Build 🤤
Another perfect video Matteo. 👍
+Tybos „Tybo's RC Motorsports“ RcMotorsports Thanks Tybo!
Sehr gutes Video! Klasse Idee, sehr gut umgesetzt! Weiter so!
+Walter Spindler Vielen Dank!
Which driver figure are you using with this body?
I use the 4x4 Driver figure from Tamiya. Depends on the model I have to shorten the body. www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=54416
yeah, that's why I thought. when I posted the question I thought it was the Sand Scorcher figure attached to the side of the body. Did you mount the figure on the chassis then?
No, you can see it in this video how I install the figures: ua-cam.com/video/BQkurABsPtw/v-deo.html
Could u do a review on the CC-01 chassis please? Thanks in advance!
Have you checked my channel, I have several videos about CC-01. Upgrades and modifications.
I just built this kit (vw rally) and the front dif feels very rough rear diff is smooth. Taken it apart couldnt find any build errors. Has anyone had this issue of a rough vibration in front diff when one wheel spins and the other is still? I dont know how this will drive. Been building RC kits over 20 years and im stumped. Anyone? Please?
I could not find a big vibration in mine. Is it possible the vibration comes from the dog bones? Does it make the same vibration when the suspension is a bit lifted up? I have many experiences from vibrations coming from the dog bones.
I think you are right. Thats gotta be it dog bone angle. I will say though, i ended up removing the entire front drive system. Gears dogbones and the shaft drive. Was substantial weight savings and although it gets stuck a little easier, now it is more authentic to a rally bug RWD, as well as doubling the run time. Its weight characteristic are more authentic now with less weight in front and motor in rear. Also i think you make the best Tamiya RC videos. Thanks for your channel. Subscribed.
It's a good idea to make it only rwd, like the real beetle! And thanks for your good feedback and sub! 🙏 I really appreciate it!
Hi Matteo ! Was meinst du ?Viele Grüße in die schöne Schweiz !
does anybody know if a Wild Willy jeep body will fit this chassis?
I don't think this will fit very well...
@@Matteomeier thanks!
Just got MF01X, trying what it takes to make it a true rally chassis. Long story short, half of the chassis is 3D printed now 😄 But I enjoy the journey
Nice preview showing the MF-01X!This truck is a blast I am loving mine I thought it was not going to be to good ... BUT it turned out to be a great truck and one that I find is FUN to drive ...you just want to keep taking it out for a drive!see my latest video I had a BLAST!
+shenlonco Thank you! Yes, you push the Jimmy to the limits!
+Matteo's RC Movies Yea after that bash I had to put two holes in the tires outer tread opposite each other because the tires got filled up a 1/4 of the way with sand and dirt.with the holes in the tread area it should fling out the sand from getting trapped inside the tires.I also am adding some 5mm washers behind the wheel pins on the axles to take out the axle play and it will also widen the width a few mm also for even better cornering!
What size dampers would I need if I wanted to upgrade?
I recommend the CVA super mini shocks.
Oh yeah. After watching this. I am sold & buying one.
+Biomech011 Yes, good! Thanks for the comment!
Hey, Matteo, that was fantastic, great video, thanks for the info...
+James Alexander Thank you!
Is this RTR?? and water proof
No, comes as kit and its not waterproof. You have to seal the electronics: ua-cam.com/video/JPuz7MhwJlw/v-deo.html
sigh... looks like i will get the traxxas or axial then
Yes, if you are an RTR guy it will be better!
What about quality wise. Any idea between tamiya and axial or traxxas
Axial and Traxxas are good quality cars too. Only no-name chinese products are critical
Nice job bud. Had to subscribe to stay tuned in to your videos....thanks for sharing... :)
+RcNickster Many thanks, for your nice comment and sub!
changed mine to 210mm, just waiting for my 959shell to put on
+supocarta74 Thats nice! I like the 959, had the original one back then!
Please the build of the mf-01x chassis.
+Ryder ss Sorry, I already have built mine, but it's not a big deal! In the manual, the build is excellent explained and pictured.
Mmm , ok fine!
good review
+Xorayque Alonso de Aguilar Thank you!
top review buddy
+paulmcnamara16 Thanks my friend!
superbe présentation de ce nouveau chassis :)
+laurentludres Merci!
Nice. 👍 Tamiya has some cool chassis.
+shadab k Yes, thanks!
Great explanation :)
+Joe Conti Thanks!
water proof?
+Ikii Hisada No, you have to seal the electronics, receiver and esc.
Super gemacht
+pitstep RC Channel Vielen Dank!
super Video
+RC Performance Studio Dank dir!
Hey Matteo, I was watching this video just now (ua-cam.com/video/omTPu_5e-wM/v-deo.html) and I was thinking, Matteo has not yet made a 'making of' video to show how he gets his cool shots. I would love to see how it's done!
+iforce2d You're right, sometime I have to do it....
+iforce2d I´ve often thought that perhaps Matteo doesn´t really want to tell us all how he does it!
+Del350K4 hahah perhaps. Mainly I'm wondering if it's possible with one person, or if he has someone to help. Even on the sunny shoots I never see shadows of any people anywhere to give clues :)
Someone asked him once, ages ago, and he said "I just walk beside the car with the camera on a stick". Immediately upon reading this I taped my camera to a beach umbrella stick and got some good tracking shots of my Carisma Bug offroad, but with my wife driving the car. Ever since I´ve been secretly practising driving with my right forefinger on the trigger and my thumb on the wheel, holding the stick (I´ve progressed to a cut-down broom handle) in my left hand. Despite my best efforts, however hard I try I can´t even get close to Matteo´s exquisite framing and smoothness. Some mysteries are just inherently unfathomable, I guess...
***** Hey guys, thats my problem. I can not film my self how I film when I am alone! So, I have to recruit someone to help me and this is not so easy. But I do not give up to try it sometime.
nice
+TOJO RC Thanks!
Subbed, awesome channel ;-)
Thank so much Gary! 🙏😊
You mame excellent videos , but this car is not for me. Keep the good job matteo
Thanks Frank! Yes, not everything is for everyone! 👍😊
Just a better toy grade (the body is nice though)
And it's more for tarmac than off road...
Thumbs up
jouli
+Camille Durand Merci
