For sure! I actually wasn't planning to do a video until I saw all of the posts and art shared around over the past day. All of the love for the game put me in good spirits.
Hey ya'll! I wanted to make sure I got this video up before the day of Xenoblade Chronicles 2's anniversary ended! Some of you may be familiar with the general events I talk about, but the channel's grown some in the past year and I wanted to share a couple more parts of the story. Thank you for watching and I'd love to read through some of your experiences!
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 also changed my life, so I was pretty stoked to see you say that! After I beat Xeno 2 during a christmas break from work, I became despondent for about a month. My leads and producers at work noticed and had to talk to me about it. The ending, and that feeling of "I love this and I need to talk about it and I have no one to talk TO" had turned inward and reminded me that I wasn't doing what I wanted to do with my life - making games with stories that move people emotionally. (3 times this game made me cry, and every one of them was POPPI! Blessed girl.) Long story short, the next 2 years were a blur of restarting animation schooling, applying around Canadian studios, and eventually moving to Japan for an animation internship. I'm still here now, in Tokyo, typing this from my new job as a Layout supervisor for a CG studio. I'm not there yet, but I'm closer than ever before, thanks to the emotional kick Xenoblade Chronicles 2 gave me. And bonus, some of my co-workers know people from Monolithsoft. These kinds of videos always make me wish that I had the time or the drive to just *talk* about something I love, in the same way. But my life path (and personality) have led me down a different route. Please know that I appreciate and love that other people are doing the leg work of talking about why they love the things I love, and helping me put my own thoughts into words about it. :) I'm not much for online communities, I tend to fall out of places if I don't have a continuous reason to talk every day in them, but I'm glad to have had the chance to stream Xeno 2 and its expansion, and share what love I've got with a small circle of other friends. I even got one person to play Torna just based on the first few hours of it, which made me *so* happy.
That's so awesome that you were able to find yourself in the heart of Japan on the track to doing something you're passionate about! Torna's definitely a good one to have friends try since the length can be more manageable for some people. Thanks for sharing your story with the game and best of luck with animation work!
You’re currently my favorite Xenoblade content creator. I feel STARVED of Xenoblade deep dives and your content perfectly fits the bill. Once I play Xenoblade Definitive Edition I am immediately binging the rest of your content I haven’t seen. All of this cause of a silly game about a 15 year old guy with a thicc anime lady captivated me so much that it immediately became one of my favorite games. I’m no JRPG guy, but this game is absolutely fantastic, especially for people playing post-patches like me. Thanks KayJulers for satiating my thirst and happy birthday Xenoblade Chronicles 2!
I just love when people open their hearts about what something specific means to them. And seeing as I also love this game to death, I relate to this emotionally. Xenoblade 2 was the first Xeno game I had finished, as X was something I just didn't have the time to sit down with initially and it felt so expansive and I never owned 1, while the Switch allowed me to take my time with 2. And it's...just everything I love about video games. Gameplay that has tons of depth of you work for it, a beautiful and creative world and characters, and a story that rewards you for picking up on subtleties and that's also not afraid to use tropes to deliver extremely important messages about love and finding your place in the world(God, I love damn near every line that comes out of Rex's mouth post Ch.6 and his speeches touch my heart deeply). I'm in my last year of undergrad myself, and writing is a hobby of mine currently, but I've been slacking on it, unsure of what to write about. But this video reaffirmed that I shouldn't look to write something groundbreaking, but rather about the things that I truly adore. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Rex's line in the battle against Malos about finding his role in the world is one of my personal favorites in the game. The way the music and delivery blend together just does it for me. It's been a hard year to get motivation, but I definitely think it's best to write about what you're passionate about. Ideas seem to flow much easier that way. Thanks for sharing and also good luck in your final year of undergrad!
This gonna be a long one. For me Xenoblade chronicles 2 was the game that intrigued me the most on the nintendo switch presentation. A story about a boy and a girl in a fantasy setting. Also the freaking music (counter attack) with Morag coming in to shot for that split second gave me chills. I originally planned to buy only botw, splatoon 2 and odyssey because I was 16 at the time and money was not a option. So I had to wait for summer of 2018 to buy the game. 6 month later than everyone else that played and I'm so happy that I bought it when I did. I finished pretty much all of my other games so my sole focus was to play Xeno 2. As you said in the video about rewatching cutscenes and relistening to music I did that mid playing the game when I couldn't play the game. Even after I finished the game I couldn't let it go. I freaking love Nia and Morag so hard. I completed multiple blades affinity even after playing through the main story because I didn't wanna leave the game. I cried multiple times to desolation and the cutscenes with the song. Even the dlc torna the golden country made me teary. I loved the world that monolith created and I preached the game to my friends. But no one has played it so I couldn't talk about it with anyone. I have legit watched multiple lore videos and game streams of the game to just see how other people would react and etc. After playing Xenoblade chronicles 1 and getting burned out of all the repetitive gameplay. I found this channel this summer and I was intrigued to see someone being passionate about the game as me. And even to the same character (Morag). My life wouldn't be complete without this game. It has flaws but being ok with those flaws you'll be able to experience a grand adventure of a boy and girl fighting their own world to get what they want. Thank you monolith for bringing me this kind of happiness. Sorry for the long read. I'm usually a lurker so I never comment or even like videos when finishing them. But I'm being completely honest that I came here because of the Xeno content but stayed here because of how good the videos are. Thank you for giving my Xeno fire the wood to keep going and thank for being who you want to be. It inspiring and giving me true fortitude.
Torna was definitely hitting me hard in those final cutscenes. The whole battle between Malos and Mythra as well as the aftermath is likely one of my favorite cutscenes in the series. I did the exact same thing searching up for reactions. Etika's (rest in peace) reaction to the Chapter 7 reveal puts a big, dumb grin on my face every time. I think that's the right attitude. Every game is going to have flaws, but some are going to bother people less and sometimes the pros presented by the game heavily outweigh the cons. Thanks for sharing your experience with the game and supporting what I do! It means a lot to hear that people enjoy the videos I make.
I watched Etika (rest in peace) so hard on the xeno 2 content and the streams he had on torna. When the battle theme of torna and later in the game when the new gormott theme kicked I was so obsessed with those songs. I watched Etika reaction solely to find someone physically show me the ear orgasm I was experiencing when the songs where on for the first time.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is one of my favorite games on the switch and one of the best rpgs I've ever had the chance of playing. Its so weird to think that this game is 3 years old. The story, the characters, and the gameplay are really amazing and full of life. I've also had problems of not having anyone to talk to about Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which is always overshadowed in discussions by games like Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Legend of Zelda. Whenever I do mention it, I either get the response of "Oh a game with anime titties" or "Never heard of it." People are missing out on an incredible experience that no other game but Xenoblade 2 can give you. From the beuatiful landscape of Gormott to the character development of Mythra, there's so much to discover and enjoy! It took me from end of 2017 until fall 2020 to finish the main game. It gave me the nostalgia of when I was a high school student just starting the game and helped my stress levels during the beginning of another quarter of college classes. Without this game, I wouldn't have been so moved by such relatable story and character motifs/themes. The legacy Xenoblade 2 has is incredible and it has a community that seems welcoming. Thank god this game exists.
After I beat the story in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I felt so attached to the characters that I didn't want the story to be over. I wanted more, I needed to know what would happen next. I got the game at the beginning of the pandemic and I've been thinking about the story since then. Now that Pyra/Mythra have been announced, I feel like my prayers have been answered. Easily the hypest dlc character ever for me.
Wait, you're a fellow Kid Icarus: Uprising appreciator as well? My man, that's some quality taste! Interestingly, I actually replayed both Xenoblade 2 and Kid Icarus: Uprising this year from new files, and I'm happy to say that both games were every bit as good as I remembered them. The largely random weapon rewards in Uprising and the gacha Blade system in Xenoblade 2, which kinda annoyed me on my first playthroughs, also helped to make replaying the games really fresh and fun experiences.
Although Xenoblade 1 is still the most influential and impacting game for me, I can still think Xenoblade 2 is still FANTASTIC on it’s own! It proved how this franchise is able to expand and evolve, with a remarkable world, great characters with deep characterizations, one of the best OSTs ever. It’s an incredible journey I’m happy to revisit as well, and with how much content it has, there’s always something to do in that game and grow.
I started playing the Xenoblade games when DE came out and let me say this is a great series of games that to me are some of the goats and I hope they continue to be seen that way. Also good video keep it up.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was the first game I bought for Switch. Although it isn’t my favorite Xenoblade game, I appreciate it all the same. These games (yes, including X) have become one of my favorite series, with Xenoblade Chronicles 1 being my favorite game of all time. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Xenoblade 2 has a special place in my life. I was always in a bad mood during my final year of high school Since I was stressed from school, life and just my daily boring routine. I remember playing the game for the first time in 2018 on my switch and I couldn’t believe how much fun I was having even though I only added about 3 hours of Xenoblade in the morning (before school) and would spend the rest of the day planning what quests to complete, what blades to get ,and thinking about the games lore. I later ended up playing the first game on my 3DS in 2018 which I also loved. I haven’t played X yet since it’s on the Wiiu, I hope the game gets a port like Xenoblade 1 as replaying that game in HD was a blast. I hope the series gets more games and we get a bigger fan base.
So uhh... Who else has over 600 hours put into Xenoblade Chronicles 2? Raise your hand! Anyone? Just me? Oh... Okay. Well whatever, I regret nothing. The incredible story, the complex but rewarding battle system, the beautiful environments and some of my favourite quests in the series. I wouldn't choose to give up a single minute of it, even if our lord and savior the Nopon Archsage offered me the chance. While the main overarching plot may not quite reach the same emotional highs of the first game it was still incredible, a rollercoaster of emotions from beginning to end. And I feel XC2 more then makes up for it's slightly less impressive main plot in other ways. The main cast were all fleshed out and had their moments in the spotlight, and I loved every single one of them. And it's not just them. Every single optional rare Blade has at least one heart to heart and a voiced side-quest to help really build their character. Even the interactions during battle can tell you lot more about the characters then you might expect. I'm really impressed with how Monolith was able to have so many rare Blades and still make them all feel so fleshed out and unique. And then there's the incredible amount of worldbuilding the game has. Information obtained through side-quests, heart-to-hearts and talking to NPC's helps to create a world with a lot of history that truly feels lived in. Things like how the former capital of Gormott, the White Chair, was completely destroyed by Ardainian forces during the annexation of the nation. The history of Tantal's isolationism after Torna's destruction. The founding of Mor Ardain by the first emperor, Ephrem, during ancient times. Or the mysterious, suspicious deaths of Hannes and the heirs of Envia, formerly the most powerful of the nine houses of the Urayan kingdom, during the war of succession that led to the fall of Envia and two other houses. This allowed Selosia to rise to power instead. And then the rumours that Hannes had a child with a woman in Gormott were used in an attempt to cause an uprising against the ruling powers of Uraya in the quest 'Marvelous Mercenaries'. World building like this really helps to make Alrest feel like a real, lived in world. Narrative aspects aside, Xenoblade 2 also has my favourite combat system in any RPG I've ever played. It took a long time for me to really learn the ins and outs of it, but I enjoyed every step of the journey. I remember the sense of accomplishment I felt when I beat my first superboss at the low level of 68. (Thank you for being such a pushover, Reeking Douglas.) This gave me the confidence to eventually take on all the super bosses, something I never got round to doing in XC1 until DE came out. But as it turns out, the base game super bosses were just baby level threats in the grand scheme of things, because here comes the Land of Challenge. (Shulk and Fiora hype!!) Honestly, I had so much fun discovering the hidden depths of the combat system as my failures during the challenge battles eventually paved the way to some of the most satisfying successes I've ever experienced in a videogame. Also, I love how they kept consistently adding content to the base game to tide us all over until the release of the Torna expansion. I was playing the game almost constantly for that first year. First NG+, then some new Blades and side-quest, then some more new Blades and side-quest which were soon followed by the Challenge Battle DLC... Plus even more Blades and side-quest for good measure. And you better believe I maxed out all them affinity charts! And completed all the challenge battles on BoC difficulty as well. I loved my time with this game. And you know what, even with 600 hours under my belt I'm still looking for any excuse to go back and play the game again. Thank you for creating this masterpiece Monolithsoft, you guys are the absolute best. If they keep making such amazing games, Xenoblade might even end up becoming my absolute favourite game series. Anyway... Here's to Xenoblade 3! And here's hoping it can be just as great as it's predecessors!
I have put in over 600 hours in XC2. It is easily my favorite RPG I've ever played. I get lost in playing the game and it does my heart good to see how many people enjoy XC2 and look at it with fond memories now.
I really wanted to play the original Xenoblade Chronicles as soon as I knew it existed in 2014 with Shulk in Smash. He was just so cool !!!! I loved his design, voice etc, but there was a problem: I didn't own a Wii, only a PS3 and a 3DS, and had no way of playing this game that I knew I'd love. So when I got my switch for my birthday in august 2018, I asked for 2 games: Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2. I began the journey as soon as I could, sneaking up to take the yet unpacked switch even before my birthday, and immediately fell in love. Because I'm French, I wasn't attached to the English VAs and played in Japanese, and loved everything about it. Hell, I think I climaxed a little when I heard Takahiro Sakurai as Jin. Long story short, I love this game, chapters 7 to 10 is the best experience in fiction I've ever had. I literally never cry or get super emotional when watching a film and such but the ending cutscene broke me and I ended up in tears when Poppi did. Then Torna came and I cried even more during that ending (Milton was one of my favorite characters). I miss no chance of advertising this amazing game to my friend and hopefully one day they'll listen to me... I just want other people to experience the joy I've had playing this game Did I mention the OST ? No ? Because AAAAAAH THAT SOUNDTRACK IS BEAUTIFUL !!!
Xenoblade 2 is really a special game, I hope its success leads to Takahashi finally being able to create the “Episode 6” that he’s been sitting on for 20 years. I will never forget how insane it was when chapter 10 started and I realized that Klaus created the Xenoblade 1 world with the Zohar. XC2 feels like a real return to form for the series after the (in my opinion) disappointing XC1, and seeing that Zohar really gave me hope that the series will be able to finally have its intended conclusion sooner rather than later.
I think if Takahashi is going to get the chance to complete his full story, Xenoblade with Nintendo money is probably the best chance we have to get it.
Man, what a game. I played it earlier this year and even though I had my gripes it was something I was throughly glad I had experienced, one of my fav stories of all time
Seriously seriously love this game to death. Easily my favorite game by a decent margin. It’s captivated me for the last 3 years and hopefully many more!
This whole thing is really something else. When my dad got a 3D printer, the first thing I requested was the Aegis Core Crystal, and managed to get one in green just like Pyra and Mythra's. Now I'm planning on sending that very token to my sister along with a Christmas card with a download code I bought yesterday. This will be the most effort I've put into a Christmas present in years, possibly ever, and it's all because of this one awe-inspiring game. It's so great to hear how it's affected to lives of others, and I'm anxious to see how it will affect my sister as well. To be clear, my sister doesn't watch anime and hasn't played any JRPGs (or possibly even RPGs in general) outside of Pokemon. I have no idea how she'll react to the more questionable moments, or the complexity of the combat, so I'm taking a pretty big gamble. Objectively it may have been smarter to get the first game, but ultimately all I want is to share this game that means so much to me with my sister now that she has a Nintendo Switch of her own. If I'm really lucky, she may even share it with her husband to help spread word of this incredible game and franchise to others who may have never even heard of it. [EDIT] What I forgot to mention is that her birthday is also coming up in early January, and if she likes the game enough, I plan on getting her Torna ~ The Golden Country for that occasion as well.
As for my own personal experience, I remember looking through the Blade Album trying to guess what the Blades would be like from the silhouettes. Two immediately stood out to me. One was Herald because dragons are obviously cool. The other was a mystery, with 4 claw-like shapes stretching out, long flowing hair, two tall ears standing straight up. When I got to chapter 6, and witnessed Niall's death, what followed managed to shatter my mind as I immediately recognized the features that allured me so much earlier, and it dawned on me just who it was hiding behind that silhouette that caught my attention so early on. I remember this moment so well because right after it happened, I went straight to the event theatre to capture every angle of what I'd just seen, before going back to the album and screenshotting that silhouette. 1 week later, I got to make one more trip to the album for one final screenshot. That cutscene was the very first time I took a screenshot that wasn't a Blade Awakening. To this day, she's since become my favourite Blade, and my favourite character in the game.
I played about 40 hours of 2 when I first got my switch but I just couldn't get into it the way I wanted to, so I ended up putting it down for a couple years before deciding to dive in and commit some real time to it. I'm so glad I did finally decide to put another couple hundred hours into it because it's one of my favorite games of all time now, and so is DE. Guys like you keep my passion for these games and their characters and stories burning, and I'm so glad that I get to be a part of this amazing community!
This game means so much to me, being my favorite of all time. It changed my life in so many ways and shaped most of who I am. I didn't know much of Xenoblade outside of Smash Bros like most people. But after Mario Odyssey in the insane year that was 2017 I wanted to see what was next. That was Xenoblade 2. I started to become extremely excited for it as the story driven nature and seemingly massive scale were tantalizing despite me never playing any games like this before and even not watchin anime at the time. The day after it released I found myself in some store ready to buy the game after watching all the reviews and listening to the music they released early, and I was so ready. On our way back we picked up one of my best friends still today and went to my house. He was playing Skyrim on his Switch and I had just put in Xenoblade 2 for the first time. When I got to the end of chapter 1 and that iconic cutscene plays with the song Counterattack, one I'd already fallen in love with. We both realized this game was something truly special. I could go on and on with moments like this but I'll stop myself short. Your videos and channel are also bye far my favorite. I've watched all your videos since "Why Xenoblade 2 is a great sequel." I don't comment much but all of the analysis you make are always a joy to see in my sub feed. Seeing someone who loves this game as much as myself is just really awesome. Also somewhat unrelated but when you made your 999 video without watching I knew it'd be something I'd love, so thankyou for making that because I don't need to tell you how great an experience it is. I can't wait to see whatever it is you make next because I won't forget it anytime soon. Thankyou for making videos! (Also Morag has my personal favorite character design ever so that last video in particular was a treat :p)
2017 was absolutely bonkers for video games with BotW, XC2, Sonic Mania, and Odyssey all coming out. It's probably my favorite year for gaming because that was a dream come true. Thank you for all of the kind words and I appreciate you sticking around with me for that long! 999 is absolutely fantastic and I'm trying to rechannel the energy that went into that video lol.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is such an incredible experience! The theme of purpose and pain stick out to me the most. Especially with characters like Pyra/Mythra, Malos, and Jin. But everyone one of them has a story and they bounce off each other so well and add more character layers and depth in everyone they interact with. It's special and I think most games have an empty feel if the characters have weak stories and personalities. This game is timeless to me and I love how the Xenoblade community continues to support this game, the story, and the characters!
Hard to believe it has been three years. Xenoblade 2 really proved how the franchise can keep moving forward. Xenoblade X was fine, but this was the true successor to the original.
Thanks, and keep creating this amazing content
Oh come on this is unfair. I wanted to shower in a few minutes but I just have to watch this now, especially after I've been getting into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 when a certain letsplayer (Yep, Emile aka Chuggaaconroy, an amazing person) re-show me much of its charm and depth. I love so, so many things about the Xenoblade series that it's not even possible to list it all. I'd have better odds at getting KOS MOS than explaining.
I feel that. I wouldn't have gotten this video out on time if I actually dove into the specific aspects I love about this game. It's been a good year to be a fan of the series with everything that's happened.
I really love how the content creators commemorate this game now that it's 3 years old already.. Proof that this game is aging like a fine wine and hopefully more people can see this hidden gem. One of the best JRPG out there.. "Dont Forget it!" They said, and we will never forget their names. 😁
I know I'm not a big character in the Xeno- community, but I really love all of your Xenoblade videos. I'm glad you managed to get the courage to post that original XC2 video, keep doing the architect's job!
So just gonna be honest, I got this game back at release because I had watched chuggaconroy for a while and watched his entire xenoblade 1 let’s play and liked watching it. It was my first xeno game I ever played, But I will say after I got this game I got to the end of chapter 2 and still wasn’t into it, so I dropped the game. It wasn’t until summer of 2018 I’d pick it up again and try it again, but this time I loved it. I became obsessed with the world, loved the atmosphere, and played the hell out of the torna DLC. Now I love xenoblade and have now played 1, definitive edition and future connected, and am planning to get to X next. This franchise is a gem and I hope to see this IP get more popular in the future.
My xenoblade 2 history was a rocky one I believe. I watched the initial reveal trailer and then refused to watch anything else because I went into both X and 1 blind as a bat and I didn't regret it. The game came out and I bought it on launch day and I enjoyed it, though I didn't love it at first. To me the OST was incredible at keeping the hype but I didn't like the English VA this time around; as well as the 'humorous' moments in the first 3 chapters didn't do it for me either. Some of the pacing was off and that lead me to not truly appreciating the story for what it was and the intricacies in it. To be honest I expected a simple, straightforward story that was told really well like Xenoblade 1 and when I didn't get that I was dissapointed. Then torna came out and it filled in all these details and raised questions that had me jumping back into the the base game again, with the Japanese VA, and i have to say that it all just clicked. The extra story details from Torna made characters deeper, stakes higher and moments grander. Plus replaying a second time I got a deeper understanding on some thing I missed the first time (which was alot tbh). Since then I have continually come back t o the game and beaten it 4 -5 times and I always find new things or connect on another level with another character or moment Now I feel I could write my own videos on the matter and honestly I am currently writing a script on xenoblade 2 as a deep dive analysis into it's themes etc.
Torna really did add alot to the experience but I never realized how much that was for some people as I was entranced from the beginning. I'm glad you ended up enjoying it alot more
Some of the humor in the first three chapters didn't sit right with me as well. Torna did the same for me and really enhanced the experience of XC2. I say keep going with the analysis and best of luck with writing it!
I may not be an avid watcher, but the dedication you put into these videos is very admirable. I like the game as much as you do, and the game was a great experience for me as well. I wish I could actively sing its praises on my channel, but because my channel’s normally about other things, I’m not sure if it would fly, since there’s other things I wanna do as well. So, props to your hard work. Looking forward to seeing more when I can. It was really nice watching this.
I love this game very much. I'm glad that XC2 introduced me to the series. I started it in 2018, got stuck with one of the quests for a long time(Umon's ship I think it was called) stopped playing, then went back to the game and finshed it in 2019. I didn't think I'd be able to beat the game since it was a bit difficult for me lol. The bosses that I hated was Jin inside the core thing and the final boss, those were hard but somehow I was able to push through it. I really hope one day we see Rex and the others again, I miss them. Anyway awesome video!! I love your videos they're great
reverse situation for me. I played this game in high school and fell in love. I played it again my freshman year of college and loved it even more. I just bought DE and now I'll also play that in my freshman year of high school.
Xenoblade 2 was a game shamed for it's artstyle, for not being a true sequel, made fun for it's Voice acting, a game made with only 40 people at Monolith, with a little more than 2 years of development... in parallel to it, the Xenoblade community while existent and passionate, was still so small, barely anyone talked about... And today, UA-camrs started their careers because of this game, to this day making analysis and theorizing about it with passion, and Xenoblade 2 itself, sold over 2 Million copies, making it Monolith Soft best selling game.
Great channel man, was on my recommendation list and I to loved both xenoblades and soaked HOURS 100s into it, but I recently played and beat the xenoblade 1 remake and liked it a little bit more though
This game inspired me to try and make my own narrative driven games. I'm still trying to figure out how all that works, but I've regained motivation thanks to what I call "Xeno Day," (XC2's anniversary) where I watch/play through the endings to both Xenoblades and Xenosaga III. This game has a habit of changing people's lives, and to say I would be a completely different person(probably for the worse) without this game is understatement of the decade.
Well taking the opportunity for the anniversary let's tell my experience, even if I don't have 2 between my real favorite games I really enjoyed the game with its problems. But just thought of it yeah a worthy successor to 1 and a fun jrpg. But then one day I botted up my switch while I was doing something else and the main theme started in the background, I almost cried at that moment, I had the game here I could just play, it's not like it was a game from 6 years ago that I can't play anymore, heck I didn't finish it too long ago only by 4 months or so, but still there was I emotional for the "nostalgic" memories of the game. That was when I realiced that with its flaws, it still is a game that can't be repeated or really copied, xenoblade chronicles 1 and 2 are games like no others and that's why they meant a lot to me. (of course I also met good people whit the series and all of that) Also Damm you for remind me that kiu2 doesn't exist :^[
I don't normally talk about them, but I agree that Xenoblade 2 has its flaws. However, I think you're right in that it did something that's incredibly unique. I didn't think it would take the direction it did and I'm grateful for that. While I won't turn a complete blind eye to the flaws, the good definitely outweighs the bad IMO. Everyday I'm reminded I live in a world without KIU2 and I become more empty. I need something new that's KIU related in my life.
XC2 did not change my life or anything special like this but it surprised me more than most games out there. I had apprehensions too when I watched the first few trailers and saw the artstyle, heard the voices and story bits. I thought it might not live up to the greatness of the first XC but was still interested nonetheless, notably because I remember kickass soundtrack and superb gameplay. Fast forward to when I finished the game and those last few hours I was just unable to put the game down. That story hit me like a damn truck and I could only think about how I was wrong to have doubts. I had my kickass music to boot as well, with an overall music track I honestly prefer over the first. Although to be honest the gameplay is where it lost a few points, also against my expectations. I just prefer less micromanaging and a system that doesn't rely on spending hours on menus and theorycraftingand making builds/sets etc. In that sense I preffered XC because it was a more straightforward system. When I play other of my fav series like Monster Hunter, Ys, Zelda I get exactly what I think I will get, but XC is the one that goes the extra mile to sweep me off my feet.
2:47 I can relate so much with this man. When I finished xenoblade chronicles Definitive Edition, I only had 1 person to talk about it and that's it and I wish I had more people to talk about this masterpiece. Same thing happened with xenoblade chronicles 2 though I had 0 people who played the game so it sucked. But recently a friend of mine bought Xenoblade 2 and I got SOOOO excited I was like DUDE ur gonna love it. I was so happy that I convinced someone finally get the game and I can't wait to see what their thoughts are on the game! PS: I told him to start with Golden Torna first since he also got the dlc so this is going to be so interesanting since so many scenes in xeno 2 main story have a lot more impact when u play the dlc. Overall I still wish I had more people to talk about Xenoblade with.
xenoblade 2 inspired me to write my own novel and to learn to draw. The end goal is to turn this vision into a manga and to show it to people, so... i totally get what mean mean by "changed your life", cuz it did for me as well!
It’s cool hearing about you got started with Xenoblade 2. I first heard about the series thanks to Smash Bros and found Chugga’s let’s play on the first game. When I saw Xenoblade 2 in one of the Nintendo Directs, I was curious about it but I didn’t know if I would buy it or not. I ended up getting the game as a Christmas present and it quickly became my main focus for the rest of winter break. Unfortunately because of how bad the tutorials are, it took me forever to understand the combat system. Despite this, XC2 is still one of my favorite games of all time.
Interesting that I played XC2 today. I noticed something that I didn't notice before. The church in Elysium heavily reminds me of the church from Xenosaga III, the one that Febronia is in. Do you think that's a coincidence or the XC2 church was inspired by it?
Xenoblade 2 being announced was a mixed bag for me - I was incredibly keen for another Xenoblade game but the voice acting and tropey trailer made me nervous for the final thing. I did buy the game on launch and even got the special controller too, but I actually got bogged down and stopped playing at about the halfway point. But I eventually picked it up again in late 2018 and was just BLOWN AWAY by the back half of the game, and then once more by Torna. I was in a strange emotional state and Torna ripped me to shreds, I've not felt so emotional over a game since Mother 3. I'd say that cemented it as one of my favourite games of all time. This year I got all the Blade quests finished (though I don't recommend that to anyone) and 100%ed NG+ in Torna just purely out of love for the game. It's just awesome to find other people who are this passionate about something I love. Thanks, everyone.
Wasn't aware this game's 3 year anniversary was coming up. I haven't played this nor the other two Xenoblade games but I just picked up a switch last week and am waiting for this and the original game to be delivered. Hope it's good!
KayJulers Hello! I will talk to you in the comments! I had that same experience where I had no friends who played this series, which is my favorite of all time. I am excited tho because my friend got Xenoblade DE a month ago and said he loves the game!
ok to sum it up the you enjoyed the game was amazed then it changed your life made a video that grew your channel got noticed ok good to know I enjoyed the area music but hated the pulls but the story was keeping my interest battle theme was incredible 👌
I would love to say that Xenoblade 2 changed my life, but after 3 years I feel like I'm at the point where I started... I've been changing from project to project without ever finishing anything and now I'm back at the one I started with...
Well might as well say my xeno history: I had only passively known of the game, mostly through smash speculation (and people’s reaction to his costume), and the designs. So when it was on sale, I figured I might as well see it for myself while only vaguely remembering a bit of the trailer. And after many hours of getting lost when the path is fairly obvious and figuring out how to fight, it’s now one of my favorite games ever. Then after I finished new game +, I preordered definitive edition.......and was majorly disoriented from how different they are. Still finished it, still fantastic, now a Shulk player in smash. Now hopefully I can afford Torna this year.
Trust me, it took me way more time than I'd like to share figuring out all the aspects of the combat, so I feel ya lol. If you're able to get your hands on Torna then I'm sure you'll enjoy it! I find the pacing to be pretty refreshing.
Initially, when I bought my switch it was just going to be a super smash bros machine and nothing else. I remember talking to a friend in the summer of 2019 and he said there was no reason to buy a switch because there were no good switch exclusives outside of smash and odyssey. So I looked up switch exclusives and I thought he was right for a moment; I didn't care for any of them. We went through each one shown and the only one that caught his eye was XC2 he was like "Oh dude I always forget about that game, it seems like my thing!" Even with shulk in smash bros, I wasn't familiar with Xenoblade at all. Fast forward to the Nintendo direct in September 2019; XCDE was announced at the end and I was like "Oh! this is the game shulk comes from!" At this point in time though I wasn't super hyped for anything related to the series. Later in 2019, I saw XC2 go on sale for Black Friday and I decided to buy it because it's rare for first-party Nintendo games to go on sale. I went in 100% blind, I didn't look up any gameplay, trailers, or reviews before buying. Holy crap, I loved it! Sure it had it's goofy moments but damn XC2 completely convinced me to invest in my switch more than just smash bros. Even now, after all of the games I've played on my switch, XC2 is still within my top 3 favorite switch games. So happy I found this game :)
That’s so nice to hear, I’m happy such a great game could change your life this much. By the way what’s the music in the background, it sounds like sartol marsh but I don’t recognise it
I got the game around my birthday this year. Now it isn't my number 1 favorite on my Switch that honor goes to DOOM but my number 2 favorite game I own on the Switch is Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I love this game so much I just want so much more content I want vandam as ng+ excusive characters I want ryen dunban and the rest a blades like Shulk and flora are I want malos as a blade More new costumes for more blades a Hell give me the option to play as the group from the torna prequel in the main game I want the ability to play the torna game style in the main game They're is so much more content they could make but they stopped updating the game a while ago I love this game and what we have and what we got makes playing this game over and over so much fun
I don’t like Xenoblade 2, the characters are boring one note tropes ( except for morag and zeke, they’re cool ) the story never really picks itself up, the exploration is just not as interesting as the other games, gameplay is... not my cup of tea, there’s a fucking gacha game that just sucks. And finally but maybe the worst of all, the game is just so full of cringe, it’s everywhere and it’s unbearable, from the blade awakening cutscenes that are just godawful, to the cringy anime style "funny scenes", to the ridiculous blade designs, etc etc. Xenoblade 2 is the only game in this short series that I would absolutely not be comfortable playing in public, while the other 2 are perfectly fine there is just no way to avoid all the trashy anime bullshit that’s in it. And I’m sad because out of the 3 this is by far the most successful game
Watching the various Xeno-tubers commemorating this game's anniversary has been extremely wholesome to watch :)
Blessed girl.)
Long story short, the next 2 years were a blur of restarting animation schooling, applying around Canadian studios, and eventually moving to Japan for an animation internship.
I'm not much for online communities, I tend to fall out of places if I don't have a continuous reason to talk every day in them, but I'm glad to have had the chance to stream Xeno 2 and its expansion, and share what love I've got with a small circle of other friends.
2:50 I can relate to that. I can't talk about Xenoblade with any of my friends because they never played the games.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Same here. I think next year might be a good one for Monolith Soft fans whether that's the next Xeno installment or a new IP.
It’s great to see such passion for a game become a life changing project!
cheers for the best rpg game for the switch, I loove xc2 so much
Xenoblade 2 has a special place in my life.
I just want other people to experience the joy I've had playing this game
Did I mention the OST ?
Xenoblade 2 was my first Xeno game so I can only imagine how cool that must've been with knowledge of the prior Xeno games
I think if Takahashi is going to get the chance to complete his full story, Xenoblade with Nintendo money is probably the best chance we have to get it.
So glad that your content took off, you're an important part of the Xenoblade community!
also I got into the comments part nice 5:24
I love this game so much!
And I love your channel, thank you for the amazing content!
Happy 3th anniversary Xenoblade 2! ❤
Thank you for all of the support, Daniel! 💛
Recently got XC2 however I'm gonna beat DE first but you see I look forward to playing 2 and I know im gonna love it
Man, what a game. I played it earlier this year and even though I had my gripes it was something I was throughly glad I had experienced, one of my fav stories of all time
Seriously seriously love this game to death. Easily my favorite game by a decent margin. It’s captivated me for the last 3 years and hopefully many more!
Can't get enough KJ xenoblade 2 coverage...watching your content is getting to relive one of my favorite games 👌
This Christmas will be my first full year of owning this masterpiece of a game
Since then I have continually come back t o the game and beaten it 4 -5 times and I always find new things or connect on another level with another character or moment
Now I feel I could write my own videos on the matter and honestly I am currently writing a script on xenoblade 2 as a deep dive analysis into it's themes etc.
It’s only 40$ on the eshop and at some stores right now! I’m going to be getting it. Great video!
Thanks and enjoy!
And today, UA-camrs started their careers because of this game, to this day making analysis and theorizing about it with passion, and Xenoblade 2 itself, sold over 2 Million copies, making it Monolith Soft best selling game.
your channel's really great, im pretty surprised you don't have more subs. keep it up.
Great channel man, was on my recommendation list and I to loved both xenoblades and soaked HOURS 100s into it, but I recently played and beat the xenoblade 1 remake and liked it a little bit more though
Over 3 years and over 2 million copies sold its been quite a journey
I'm really happy about those sales numbers.
To be honest, I enjoy your vids and I plan to play this game soon.
(of course I also met good people whit the series and all of that)
Also Damm you for remind me that kiu2 doesn't exist :^[
I don't normally talk about them, but I agree that Xenoblade 2 has its flaws. However, I think you're right in that it did something that's incredibly unique. I didn't think it would take the direction it did and I'm grateful for that. While I won't turn a complete blind eye to the flaws, the good definitely outweighs the bad IMO.
Everyday I'm reminded I live in a world without KIU2 and I become more empty. I need something new that's KIU related in my life.
I actually just beat the Torna DLC tonight! I love this game so much!
xenoblade 2 just exploded in activity in the past month lmao
Xenoblade chronicles 2 is probably one of my favorite video game of all time with super mario bros.3 & pokemon emerald.
Xeno 2 changed my life as well and made me appreciate more games and smaller communities and I can relate to using Christmas money for the game
It's kind of crazy that it's been so long. I love both 1 and 2, so I hope you enjoy them!
@@KayJulers Thanks! It's going to be my first (proper) attempt at a big JRPG like this so I hope I like it.
KayJulers Hello! I will talk to you in the comments! I had that same experience where I had no friends who played this series, which is my favorite of all time. I am excited tho because my friend got Xenoblade DE a month ago and said he loves the game!
Clean! Glad to hear they enjoy it and you'll have someone to chat about the series with.
I genuinely can't decide whether I prefer XC2 or the original, to the point where I basically love them both equally.
ok to sum it up the you enjoyed the game was amazed then it changed your life made a video that grew your channel got noticed ok good to know
I enjoyed the area music but hated the pulls but the story was keeping my interest battle theme was incredible 👌
I would love to say that Xenoblade 2 changed my life, but after 3 years I feel like I'm at the point where I started...
I've been changing from project to project without ever finishing anything and now I'm back at the one I started with...
Kind of a bummer comment, but great video! This game deserves all the love in the world!!!!
We went through each one shown and the only one that caught his eye was XC2 he was like "Oh dude I always forget about that game, it seems like my thing!"
Even with shulk in smash bros, I wasn't familiar with Xenoblade at all.
By the way what’s the music in the background, it sounds like sartol marsh but I don’t recognise it
Are we ever gonna get a xenoblade 1 vs 2 debate
I wish I could fall in love with the game again from scratch. I love it so much. I’m a Pyra guy by the way haha
Pyra Squad!
@@KayJulers YES SIR!!
One of these days I’ll finish......
Oh noooooo LOL
I got the game around my birthday this year.
Now it isn't my number 1 favorite on my Switch that honor goes to DOOM but my number 2 favorite game I own on the Switch is Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I need to get around to playing DOOM and Eternal at some point.

They're is so much more content they could make but they stopped updating the game a while ago
I love this game and what we have and what we got makes playing this game over and over so much fun
