      We had a great time at his marina. The dock hands and other staff were excellent. We will definitely go back and recommend it. We were not thrilled with the restaurant bar tender, but that might be run by someone else. Thanks for watching.

    • @perrooceaniko2005
      @perrooceaniko2005 5 років тому

      Ehhh. A Hurricane takes 5 days to approach the coast. Take 3 hours to get there... you can safely planify the crossing. I would cross from Miami, c
      Many options there. If you are scare of Miami (stupid myth) you can choose ft Lauderdale as these dudes did .

    The chocolate bar should be a Yorkie bar it was in the adverts as a butch trucker eating them. But I dont think you would get them in the US, as for a snickers bar it was called a Marathon bar over here when I was a lad. • @tryingnottosink9107
      @tryingnottosink9107  3 роки тому

      We used to have a Carver 355 and we believe that would be the smallest we would ever take on a trip like this. It would be perfect on the ICW but we would be a little more careful about monitoring the weather on the ocean and crossing to the Bahamas. We took our 355 up to Martha's Vineyards and it was great for that trip.

      Besides location we look for marinas that can handle large boats. We do not like to be the biggest boat that they get. We prefer that they be close to town, or at least have a restaurant or Tiki Bar. We typically look them up in Waterway Guide or on the internet.

    Were you at the Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale? That's the home of the adventurous character Travis McGee where he lives on his house boat. It was a series of novels written by John D. MacDonald (1964-1984). My Uncle Darrell collected them all and gave them to me after he read them. I don't read a lot of fiction, but these are worthwhile. $120 for the night. We typically pay around $2-$3 per foot.

    Wow, beautiful video! I can’t believe how empty that casino and marina is!? They need to lower the prices so people go.....how do they stay open!? I don’t get it!

    Thanks for sharing your trip. That would be a dream come true to make that trip. I guess I better renew my long expired passport with a new one. Then work out the hard part. Lol
    Be safe and have fun. 😎

    Dear "Trying Not to Sink (ever) Duo!" U are top Notch, because you thimk Philly Smart! The viewers do want to see what it feelsl like to be out in the Atlantic, at night.... Can't you sail due east of NJ, leaving Penn's Landing, and going East about 150 miles, to show us what the open sea is like, before it gets too cold????? Maybe this is too dangerous???? Just asking. You are a real credit to yourselves, and to Philly!!!!!!! Be careful with those blocked filters!!!!

    • @tryingnottosink9107
      @tryingnottosink9107  5 років тому

      Not too dangerous, too expensive. That trip would use 700 gallons of fuel, with no real destination in mind. Thanks for watching. We are glad you like the videos.

      @@tryingnottosink9107 Omggg! In other words, to move Approx 300 miles, in open Sea, will burn about 700 gallons....700 times, what amount, I guess $4.00, will cost $2,800? (or so?) This is worse that my lexus ls 400 V-8, which burns Sunoco 93....It is a lot worse! I want you guys to have several BIG Trades, in the Market, so you can make a video of the "Dangerous Open Sea Voyage to Nowhere" ...Maybe you could then go South to Bermuda. Your Videos are GREAT! Big Trade soon, to get lots of extra CASH!!! (my great Hope!) !!!

    I remember in 66 my first visit to Bimini. We arrive by chalks airline. Pull up on the beach in my ears were ringing. Two customs agents made you declare all items that were made in China. Chinese goods were thrown in a pile and set on fire on the beach. 🤔
    The Brown's motel and Marina was an old ramshackle 2 story frame building painted brown. My dad supplied all the heating air and commercial restaurant for the Bimini big game club. I spent my days fishing off of browns dock. My very first day on that dock I caught a 12lb mutton snapper 👍 man I was a happy kid.the next day my Dad paid a local guide with a 15 foot wood skiff to take me fishing for the outlandish price of $25 for the whole day. By 1 p.m.l was too tired to fish.caught so many grouper trigger mutton snapper fish and other fish that my arms were wore out. 6 oz bottle of coke cost $1. There was a ship-to-shore radio shack in the middle of town. That's how you made phone calls. There was no cars on the island at that time. Bicycles and mopeds. One small Datsun pickup truck that made deliveries around the island. It sure has changed over the 50-plus years. We went every weekend for many years. Some of the best times of my life.
    Safe travels to you and your family.
    ♥️🇺🇸

      Thanks for the story! The island has definitely changed. Although, I have the feeling Brown's is pretty much the same.
