The night sky at sea just can't be beat! 26 years of service in the Navy, and I would often go topside and just stare into the heavens for hours out there in the middle of the ocean. Good that you got to experience it - it can be overwhelming.
That passage turned out to be a much more pleasant ride. Your not in a big hurry, so waiting for prime conditions seems like a wise choice. Going 27 hours outside of the view of shore is quite an accomplishment for you. Calm seas and fair winds.
Yes lord girl. When your mind starts seeing sea monsters in the weee hours it’s time to wake him up and swap places. That’s funny... great video. Wish I was there.
I am loving your videos! One comment? I like typing your locations in to my browser to see where you are and are going. Maybe put a little map showing that day's voyage for the other viewers? Thanks again!!
Ssssssssssssssshh I don't really want my wife to see this one just yet ...lol the crashing pots and pans dishes and what not would put her over the edge I fear. We draw 3.5 feet and as of this point in time I am thinking of doing the three day trips and not doing the overnight crossing , my plan may change still a ways away from having to make that decision. looked like ya'll had prefect weather window to do your crossing and i really enjoyed your narrative as you were making it. Hope you had a great time with your mom over Xmass
LOL. It wouldn’t have been that bad but we didn’t realize it would be that bad so we didn’t secure things like we should have! We debated about the 3 leg bend option too...either way works!
What a fantastic video. It makes me long for spring.

It was amazing
Congrats on timing the crossing with such nice weather. Glad you mentioned the impact on you of the dark sky. Truly awesome.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

I couldn’t stop watching. So I am sure you have shared this somewhere , but what type, year, length is your boat?
We have a 1978 Ta Chio 35 foot trawler. She is a single Diesel engine with a bow thruster.

It would be nice if you could add a chart with your starting point and destination when you’re cruising.
Thanks for the feedback, will see what I can do!
It's Carabelle to Clearwater. Go look it up on your own map.
what was the distance... beautiful sunset shot...
About 170 miles and thanks!
Carabelle to Clearwater is hardly "Crossing the Gulf of Mexico".
