Having a little trouble with the door magnets, I believe your video solves my problem.
Great!
My wires are short by the panel. what type of cable I can use to extend the wires?
Just some low voltage wires like this, a.co/d/ezwC5SE, and some wire nuts should do the trick I would expect 👍
How long does the batteries last in it? Do you think there's a way to add somekind of AC adapter to this retrofit alarm kit to avoid using batteries? Surprised it doesn't give you a choice, or does it?
10 months later I’m still using the same batteries. The type of battery used is highly efficient and very low usage for the low voltage wires. Also I am pretty sure there is not a way to add an AC adapter, but also I believe you will receive an alert on your phone when batteries are getting low to change in advance.
You could replace the 2, 3V Lithium batteries with a 6V AC/DC adapter, but if you lose power, this device stops working, so you'll need to add a backup battery anyway. You'll be safer if you leave the batteries installed and let Ring warn you when they are getting weak.
Set up my retrofit buy anytime I open a senor I have a 6 sec delay it chimes. Anyone else have this problem?
My only guess is the range extender may need to be placed in a more central location between the retro fit and the base. Let us know if you found any solution.
Clearly you are not a professional installer. But nice try for DIY
