    more pike fishing for sure bro!
    would like to see you haul a couple of 20 lbs+ pikes from the kayak!

      I'd love to try to get a pike. I'd have to go north for that as they stock them and muskies. down south here, all i have are native pickerels

    I fish on creecks and small rivers so distance is no an issue accuracy is more desirable on my gear

    By watching you look like your getting some excellent distance with that popper on your BFS setup. I don't have a BFS setup yet but I just like watching you fish and test different BFS products. In the future I will get at least one BFS combo to have and to mess around with. I'm always willing to try something different. I would be happy to catch some pickerel or any other fish that happens to hop onto my hook.

      Oh i throw pretty darn good distance with BFS. Most people have the picture of old school BFS reels that were originally made for small streams. they are tuned specifically that way. The Flock of BFS reels today can throw pretty good distances! I think you would be pretty happy with a Curado BFS. can do a various range of lures pretty good. Or if you have a Tatula 100, you can easily convert it very cheap! The Chameleon DIY spool is super affordable and micro bearings isn't expensive ;)

    Accuracy is more important than casting i think and i love bfs thanks to you jimbo i fell in love .. try it dont knock it first..and once they use it for a couple months they will love it with the rite setup

      most ppl have the image of stream fishing with BFS as that's how it started. short distances only. but over the years, it have gotten so good for distance. i mean how far can a spinning reel cast a trout magnet? I am really REALLY curious.

      I haven't figured out when I really need that spinning reel for my current fishing situations. I would probably use it for salmon fishing as they would run like crazy and i need the line capacity. Oh yeah, if I need a more complex drag system to help tame some beasts, definitely a good high end spinning reel!

    Sup Jimmy. Like how you called it fishing for pickerel? Lol. 2nd one was giant. I never used a popper in cold water, will try now. We don't mind catching pickerel, they don't hurt anything as far as we know? Better than getting skunked lol. Don't understand why people would say anything like spinning better than baitcasting?? I've only baicasted for almost a year. I see need for both? Both have strong point. I don't criticize or want to be criticized for fishing lol. You have more knowledge with baitcasting than anyone I know👍. Amazing the places you can go in a kayak. Tyvm

      Pickerels are like bass and are apex predatory fish. They will compete for forage so some bass angler kills them to reduce competition. But that's how their waters get more bit smaller bass as bass compete against each other.

      @@rawrfishing never knew that? We even take pics when catch a pickerel. I would say something if saw killing them just out of sportsmanship. Our private club pond doesn't have pickerel, but one year after had a biologist check pond we were told to keep any bass 12" or less, our 6-8lb bass were depleting a little? We just threw them over dam to another waterway. Ty

      @@ronaldyeater3322 there's been videos and forum discussions of men killing pike family fish as they catch em. One video he clearly said he hates them and they kill all the bass. Dunno if that video is still on YT but it was pretty hot maybe 4 or 5 years ago

    As a mostly bank fisher(not my 1st choice) I have been chasing the range for light lures. I have realized there is not much difference in range when it comes to baitcast /spinning in general and both have their pros/cons.. Grew up on cheap zebcos and spinning gear and I personally like where Baitcast BFS is going. I also think it will exceed spinning on light lures over all as more innovation is being done on the Baitcaster side of things for light/ultra light.... Seeing a trout magnet go 40-50ft today, look at older bfs video and most goals are 30 ft.. So already in such a short time 20 extra ft.. Also seeing more out of the box gear showing up with little to no mods, compared 5 years ago...

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому +2

      absolutely right! back then the trend was casting light lures in streams. So most reels were made or tuned for short accurate casting. Fast forward a bit, things changed and reels are allowing folks to cast a lot further! I see more pros than cons for BC Reels than Spinning so that's why I use mainly casting reels!
      I bank fish a lot lately too... lacking time lol. baby's nap is getting shorter and shorter!

      Bait finesse empire got a ton to choose from including some swivel snaps too. Likely the store to carry the smallest ones

    You Probably have mentioned this before but what is your favorite braid to leader knot? Like what are you using here? As for distance the distance question. I bank fish if i want something super light to go really far i will use a fly rod. BFS casting is just plain fun after a lifetime of spinning. I have reallllllly bad ADD, its very stimulating to be fully engaged in the act of fishing and bait caster provide that.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому +2

      Albright Knot is easy and thinner than Alberto! But some rods with micro guides requires FG knot. Most bfs reels can cast relatively far these days. I would opt for lures 3.5 grams and up and a longer rod L or ML. Gonna show case some stuff soon on longer and stiffer rods for heavier bfs fishing this upcoming season ^_^

    I was going to post a comment asking if single hooks will worker better than treble hooks before you mentioned it in the video. Treble hooks and pickerel means trouble. I wonder if single hooks will have worse or better hookups on the popper. Would you use a size 2 or 4 single hook?

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Singles ftw for lures u move. Like suspended and slow sinking jerkbaits... u need sticky sharp hooks during winter. Fish bite and spit so fast u won't feel it. I use size 6 or 4 usually but you need to figure out ur lure sizes and if it matches the profile. It's okay to have hook bends bigger than the stock trebles
