In the 90s my wife wanted to race at a local dirt track so we found a 72 torino gt that was in terrible shape no drivetrain rusted really bad. So we built the car with a 460 automatic and the first season she placed 5th in her division for the season I was so proud of her.. sadly she passed away 4 years ago now All that's left are the memories
Brings back so many memories. I bought a 72 Gran Torino Sport when I was 16 years old. My motor head friends and myself would go to Meander Dragway in Niles Ohio on Friday nights and race. Stop by Sunoco and fill er up with 360 and go run. Also hung out with all the area folks who had muscle cars including one Superbird, a few vettes, another 72 1/2 Gran Torino, 67 Camaro, many more. I still kick myself for selling my 72 GTS! They really went up in value after the movie "Gran Torino" came out and the appearance of a Gran Torino Sport in Fast and Furious series.
That's awesome cool , this car has survived marriage and kids and several career changes. One thing I will not let go of . They have to pry from my cold dead hands !!
I love that year Torino.. I had a 68 Torino GT.. beautiful car styling fastback.. can't wait to see how this one runs when he gets bored and puts the Whipple on it.. :)

@@GODZILLATORINORACING where do you race? I am hoping to have one ready for the track next year. Be cool to run a couple of 72’s down the track. I am in Ky. Gonna haul it with my 72 Gran Torino wagon. You should check out my wagon on my channel. I will look for the new content. I love your car.
Not apples to apples, a stock '18 Mustang vs Stock 72 Gran Torino would not be a good comparison . The Mustang GT has almost 5 decades of technology. The fact that a modified Jalopy is performing at the a similar level on any matrix is very cool. I think the point is lost on some folks. Modern cars are amazing no questions about that but there is something to be said about building something in your garage with a low budget that can compete and beat it's contemporary rival on the track ..
Thank you friend! It was a cake walk . I think the GODZILLA TORINO has acquired a taste for Coyote , but he is getting bored and needs a new challenge . GODZILLA vs a Hellcat !!
First off, my blood runs blue, I’ve been Ford my whole life. To see your car run low 12’s with all that show and sound, something is not quite right. When I was in high school back in the early nineties, I had a 73 Mercury Cougar with a basically stock 4 barrel 351 Cleveland (it was carbed very well, tuned by a wizard, and had a wicked ignition), and that little darling would run a pretty consistent 12.5 / 12.6, so I would love to know what’s choking your top end. I bet your carbs front bowl is starving for fuel. Thanks.
Have you ever been to Savannah River Drag way ? there is a couple of big races coming up I love the Gran Torino I’m currently building a 74 Gran Torino for my dad as a gift not for the drag strip but for the road
Ok ,the 460 bolts right in with factory parts . A C4 sourced from a 351/400 M vehicle will work . The C4 will need to be beefed up to live behind a healthy 460!
That may be true ,the fuel filter was the major problem fixed and we're moving on . I think it could use some more also . We ran last Sunday and the top end is soft but it still made power .
@@GODZILLATORINORACING after run pit it in neutral and shot it off and coast off track to return rd and pull a plug and see what it looks like I bet it needs more jet

@@burningblue1254 I guess you're comment sounded like you were saying the opposite . So now I confused 🤔. If we were have a discussion about cars , and mine in particular I could get the point . BTW my car isn't a race car it's a stripped down muscle car with some minor engine modifications and suspension mods and specialized tires for drag racing . Nothing exotic or too costly. Stock the car is capable of 16 second 1/4 mile times . It's now an 11 second car. But it's not very street able. Mainly because no $$ we're spent to ensure reliability nor comfort and handling outside the simple task of going straight and sounding and looking badass . Its so easy to setup an old muscle car to outrun modern muscle but the hit is you get 5-10 mpg compared to 16-28.
😂😂He is running 12….plenty of bone stock of the factory floor muscle that will dog walk that in a 1/4😂😂
