That’s because he KNOWS how cutthroat the business can be. People don’t help you out unless there’s something in it for them. It’s an “everybody for themselves” kinda place. I know from experience - toxic and dangerous AF if you meet the wrong people.
Give it some context and perspective. You can't just hand out your industry contacts with your name attached to it in some way. It was very generous and probably only did it because they were friends.
