Don Draper will go down as one of the best characters ever.
Facts
*the best, as far as TV goes. best show and character of all time.
Mike Maratta Don Draper’s character and likeness is in the Smithsonian museum ....idk he’s up there
And also on your wife (or any woman for that matter).
Its funny how we love watching these complex, flawed, or criminal characters, when in real life we would want to avoid the Don Draper’s, Walter White’s, and Tony Soprano’s of the world after talking to them more than 10 min. But they do make for good television.
For someone who lost both his parents by the age of 20, with no real siblings and very little money, Jon Hamm has come along way.
An extremely humble person too..A true inspiration!
Seriously!!
Guess life was very hard for Jon Hamm.
being a dude with good looks helps.
Oscar Manzano his life mirrors Don Draper in a lot of ways

That wasn't a shot though. It's just the truth. He was being as respectful as truthful.
At this point its less of shot fired and more beating a dead dragon.
Time to re-watch Mad Men again
Some eps like The Suitcase good but man it dragged. Like onscreen loitering.
Halfway through season six!

Just finished my first binge of it about 3 months ago.

Currently binging for the first time. I’m in the middle of the 6th season so I’m still in the dark about some things

I almost don't associate Draper with Hamm. I nearly think of Draper and Hamm as separate people.
Andrew Devine I agree. I think it’s a testament to how well the character was both written and acted. I think the same goes for White/Cranston and Soprano/Gandolfini.
Indeed
Deep Kahali way ott he was effectively involved in a stupid hazing incident at a frat party when he was 18 and a guys pants got lit on fire, he wasn’t convicted of anything though
Bad but hardly the monster that you’re painting him as
It's called acting kid
right? when they put that scene with him and betty on the phone in the video and then cut back to him I realized that I don't think of john hamm as don draper or vice versa

"What? Youre too good for me now that I have pirate hook hands?" Is the greatest written line in all of fiction.
for me, the thing with Mad Men is, there is barely not one mediocre character. They had all a specific meaning and an important role in one or another moment of the series, and the actors were able to perform all of them just in a sulbime way. I truly think you can enjoy every single episode -and discover new and interesting details if you rewatch.
That's great thanks for watching my videos I really appreciate your love and support for me. 💙 How long have you been a fan of mine?
Joan sucks
It makes you feel like it happened to someone you know, at your own workplace. It’s just told in such a blunt yet introspective way.
Oh for SURE...Its almost spooky the details I'm picking up on through subsequent viewings. Even the BIT PARTS of the show and the actors that played them can all take great pride in the roles they played...The extras too! Madmen is a great novel that is obviously not read, but probably should be viewed as part of the great literary canon of Western Civilization or at least AMERICAN history.
the Kodak Carousel will forever be the most emotionally provocative, mesmerizing scene.
gets to me Every. F***ing. Time.
That "I know" clip shown here comes close
Yes it will
Mad Men probably the best thing I’ll ever watch in my lifetime
Watched it too many times. :')
Yeah
If you don't like drama and just people in nice fashion loitering.
Rolling Ormond people loiter a lot in real life though that’s why the interactions were realistic unlike most dramas where the dialogue is back to back rushed cheap script.
That and The Office
I finished mad men last year and don draper is still stuck in my mind, Jon hamm did suchhhhh a great job
watched the series probably 10x over by now, it gets better every time. you pick up on all the foreshadowing about Lane's suicide, its the greatest show.
hes so funny in TAG
Sean Gahan oh I never noticed! Definitely gonna have to watch for that
I finish MAD MEN last year twice.
jessie yager I’ve rewatched Mad Men 3 times so far all seven seasons
Hamm is an incredible actor. He’s nothing like Don Draper. Just shows how amazing he can perform.
If they ever make an Archer live action film he has to be archer !! It would be too perfect
OMG 😰
Live action archer is James Bond
Have you seen Henry Cavill?
I thought I was the only 1 who thought that
@@mnatior Cavill doesn't quite look the part as much, and he doesn't have the charisma or comedy chops necessary.
I'm in the middle of watching Mad Men for the second time, and I am surprised at how much more texture I am picking up the second time around. Such a great show.
“Listen to me. Get *out* of here and move forward. This never happened. It will *shock you,* how much this never happened.”
Blunt as a brick through the window. TV rarely gets so burdensome and real.
Thanks for watching my movies and I really appreciate it I love you
His most underrated role is ‘young doctors notebook’ which is perfection.
I loved that show. I wish it would have gotten more popular so that it could have lasted longer
Yes very funny and truly entertaining. This was the first time I ever saw John Hamm outside of Mad Man & I leared to really truly respect him as an actor. I think it was just intended to be a short series through.
Mad Men...that was my chill show back in college on Sunday nights. I rewatched the entire series over 2 weeks last summer after I was laid off. Still blows me away, so much to love and appreciate. I felt satisfied with the ending, which I don't feel a lot of shows do well.
Kristin Hull I’ve watched the whole series through 3 times now. I still love it every time I see it.
Jon hamm is one of the most real feeling actors in Hollywood I will watch anything he is in
Deep Kahali hahah really?
I've watched Mad Men 4 times now. Right now I'm on at the end again and it's crazy how I'll never get used to how different the first episodes look. Absolutely the best show ever made.
LIZARD1582 definitely one of the best!
Mad Men is and will always be my favorite TV show of all time.
U dont know that you idiot
It will probably be mine too. Interesting since my first viewing of the show, I basically blew it off as a entertaining soap opera, and I really couldn't see myself ever watching it again, but I have since developed a much deeper appreciation for it. There are very sublime elements to such a show. Nothing about it is gratuitous.
Mad men is the kind of series can be categorized as art. It is not a soap
Well said. 👍
Who has ever called Mad Men a soap opera?
@@Liusila You'd be surprised
Mad Men series finale was so clever once you pick apart the episode. Truly art.
Right?? That last shot!!!
How dare Mr. Hamm be handsome AND funny AND talented AND interested and did I mention gorgeous? Good luck to his kids, I can't imagine trying to follow in those footsteps.

FINALLY. A famous person acknowledging that luck is more vital to career success than talent.
I don't understand. Most actors acknowledge luck being a primary factor, that I've heard at least.
@@rieskimo We've obviously had different experiences listening to different actors.
It entirely depends on your career. A successful engineer requires way less luck than a successful actor for instance.

Mad men absolutely brilliant. Stunning writing, everyone played their part to make it an epic series..
"...And you never say thank you!"
"THAT'S WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR."
Mad men is brilliant. So much depth. Everyone I watch it I get something new out of it
That little moment where he goes “...Birdie...?” Hits me like a truck every time.
Every time they went to the wide shot of the interview, I kept thinking, "why does his blue shirt have yellow cuffs?"
its not blue
I can't imagine a blue button down dress shirt would have yellow cuffs. I think the grey cardigan came with yellow cuffs stiched on it as a way to make a mature Mr. Rogers style sweater (not knocking the cardigan or Mr. Rogers. Love em both) look more fun, preppy , stylish, and colorful. Feels like something I'd see in GQ. It's pretty cool . I've owned alot of sweaters & shirts with sewn in cuffs, and its great for layering or just making your usual outfit look a little different.
I didn't even notice it until you said something but he gave us a talking point lol.
Sometimes makers of trendy dress shirts sew a different color or pattern fabric on the inside cuff so when it’s rolled there is a different pop of color. It looks a little confusing with the cardigan over it but it’s quite common.
@@user-lt5cg5wz8m Thanks, Kate and Abigail - I really wondered what that shirt looked like WITHOUT the sweater, but hey, it's a GQ video, so I'm sure this was capital-S-Styled within a pixel of its life.
Me too!
I feel John Hamm is underrated, he's a brilliant actor, I saw Beirut and immediately thought that he made the movie better

Don had the chance to say goodbye to the “mother” figure, Betty, that he never got the chance to do with his own mother. Brilliant
Hmm i never thought of her as his mother figure
Omg i never thought of it this way before! Amazing!!
Jon Hamm's great.
I'm happy with Pattinnson. But he would have made a great Batman
I feel the exact same way
Ya, I hope they do a one-off movie with Hamm as Batman like the upcoming joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix.
Too old. Don’t come at me, I’m a mad men fan sho has rewatched it at least 7 times.
Honestly Jon Hamm is the best Bruce Wayne/Batman let alone he old enough he needs to beef up.
Hello my lovely friend thanks for watching my movies and I really appreciate it I love you
I was always vaguely aware that Hamm is an intelligent guy, but his casual mastery of language in this interview really demonstrates that. It also makes it way funnier how many "himbo" guest star roles he's snuck into his career
I love how many females he has worked with and speaks such praise for. Well done Jon.
Lol😊 thanks dear and nice to meet you 💝
The Suitcase is one of the best episodes I've ever watched in any show ever!
Loooove this! I hope it’s a whole Good Omens series though, I’d love to see David Tennant and Michael Sheen each do this as well!!

I miss mad men too. People complain it was slow, but the writing and acting were exceptional.
no one can blame you, we never got anything like that ever again...
I cant stop rewatching at least once every year. I can relate so much to him
Make better videos.
Jon Hamm is one of the manliest man in the history of man
Deep Kahali for being super cool?
Nah. He's a cool guy and a great actor but he is not jocko willink levels of masculinity. He is an actor in the end, that doesn't inspire any masculine values.
@@chocobomtom He works and makes enough money to support himself and give himself a good lifestyle; the means don't matter. The values do. Rethink masculinity.
Because he's an actor? Jesus people celebrity worship are one of the worst people in this world.
@@alexanderlopez-guevara5433 So he has a job and makes money? Maybe you need to rethink masculinity.
He would be great in a western. He looks like one of those 60s / 70s actors.
Not gonna lie, I haven't watched much with Jon Hamm in it, but his style is out of this world. 🔥🔥🔥
When Betty says ‘Don Honey...’ it completely reminds me of Michele Williams saying ‘Honey’ to Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea. There is something so heartbreakingly poignant about past loves using familiar loving language.
that 30 rock hooks for hands scene had me almost on the floor laughing
He seems like such a thoughtful and gentle person. What an incredible talent.
I just realized how amazing it would be to see GQ or something similar do a series for other artists as well. A director series would be amazing. An author one, not only about their books but about film projects of their books that they were involved in.
One of the best actors of the last decade if not the best.
Period.

Lmao not even.

Knowing how fond he is of Bill Hader that makes me love his small scene in Barry that much more.
its amazing how many great roles he has done and yet each role is so unique he becomes the part and yet he is so humble and natural
Mad Men made men like me love drama like no other. I remember casually taking a peek at the pilot and not before long I was finished with the last episode. Truly a fantastic feeling of satisfaction watching it. I can now sit and watch any episode anytime of the day and still enjoy it like the first time I saw it.
Joh Hamm ftw! Sounds like a well-balanced, thoughtful guy! Look forward to seeing him on TV for many years ! Thank you GQ and Jon!
The thing I saw him that impressed me the most was his Travel Man episode with Richard Ayoade in Hong Kong. He is brilliant at comedy
The thing I always will remember about mad men are the typewriter and telephone noises in the background
