You just can't hate on Bryan Cranston. I remember him from the soap opera "Loving". He's been around forever. He really did put in the work. Not only was he a brilliant actor, he really had paid his dues at that point.
Yes and commercials before that. But you know when I saw him on "Loving", I said to myself he has got somenthing. I just had a feeling about his looks and knew there'd be bigger things. The fact that he seems to be a nice person is all the more satisfying.
Even if he'd done nothing before Breaking Bad, it is still an absolutely classic body of work. The whole series never gets old. Watched it 3 times now and I love it as much each time. He plays the part perfectly, as does the rest of the cast, and man they had strong material to work with!!
Cranston is an actor that paid his lion's share of dues. He was in a boatload of bit parts in soaps, series, and made for TV movies. He definitely deserves the accolades
Both such great performances. So hard to choose one or the other. I think Bryan won more because that role demanded a greater range from him, but Hamm’s performance is just as masterful, if not a bit less flashy.
Bryan shared an anecdote where one of those years neither Bryan nor Jon won the Emmy. And later when Bryan saw Jon at the after party, Jon said, "It's okay. It gets easier after some time."
What’s nuts is that both are incredible actors but also low key hilarious. They both can do serious dramatic roles and comedy roles, and both got to work with Larry David.
That’s a good point. I was blown away when I found out Hamm wasn’t just funny but genuinely skilled at comedy. Cranston was just a mind blowing when you saw how fantastic he was at drama. They were just introduced to me from opposite ends of the spectrum yet both proved they could do it all.
No it doesn't even out. You're comparing 4 Primetime Emmys and 1 GG with winning 2 Golden Globes and 1 PTE? Where did you learn math lol? Golden Globes aren't even considered as prestigious as a Primetime Emmy either.
Bryan as Walter White would have been for the most part damn near impossible to beat out, I would say that Bryan and James as Tony Soprano are probably the 2 best screen characters I have ever seen when it comes to the series genre … hands down.
Both actors are legendaries. But Walter White, as character, allows a wider performance range than Don Draper (probably because WW story tend to be "less realistic" than DD story)
John Hamm is a brilliant actor, it's just that Bryan Cranston was brilliant too and he got the perfectest character he can ever play, yeah ik that's not a real word! Cranston's acting chops can be seen in "Malcolm in the Middle" the guy is a versatile geni.
@@redrick8900 Well, Cranston was a nobody who every Seinfeld fan knew as Jerry’s dentist, Tim Whatley. Also, many recognize him for his 6 years as the father, Hal, on Malcom in the Middle, for which he was Emmy nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy 3 times. So, if that’s a nobody, I guess he is one.
Would be so funny to see them swap roles, both are amazing actors and could probably give the other a run for their money as their signature characters.
It's basically Messi vs Ronaldo. Two of the greatest duking it out every year.

Emmy voters are lazy. They always vote for the same people. I love Julia Garner, but she´s got three Emmys for "Ozark", come on, give it to someone else for a change (Rhea Seehorn has zero).
i mean it didn't last but AMC gave HBO a run for its money for a minute. Breaking Bad didn't really get good until the third season, Mad Men is perfect all the way through and back
John Hamm was pretty good on SNL. He was quite funny. I've not seen Mad Men nor much of his other work. Cranston is the man! Breaking Bad just blows your mind! A Great show! Even better than The Sopranos ( and that's Good!) Cranston also won awards for his theatrical films as well
I think Jon was under appreciated as Don Draper. His acting had so much range in that character, he was at the same time dominant, commanding, but fragil and scared in the same episode. His acting in the scene Peggy quits in one of the most amazing scenes I ever watched. I honestly think he’s acting is far better than Bryan as Walter. But I’m happy he got his long overdue Emmy win in the end.
I mean I wouldn't say far I would say they're neck and neck but Cranston had the range hamm was more I'd say more real(not saying bryan wasn't but bb is less realistic than mad men ofc) but the way both can communicate with their eyes is insane For me jon hamm in the suitcase and hands and knees is some of the greatest acting and would be the best if it wasnt for Bryan Cranston in ozymandias which is the pinnacle
Jon was terrific in Mad Men, but the quality of Breaking Bad was so incredible that Jon just could not compete. I loved Mad Men and it did so much so well, but it just didn't give Jon the showcase that Breaking Bad gave Bryan. Vince Gilligan created a more consistent, higher quality show than Matt Weiner.
Two completely different shows, different genres, going for different emotions. Honestly, I think the complexity of Mad Men went over most people's heads, so obviously the tension and excitement of BB made that show more popular.
anyone aware that this man is ment to have an absolute WEAPON in his pants. I mean like, he's ment to have something intimidatingly huge down there lol

It's a crime that no actor from Better Call Saul ever won an Emmy. Rhea Seahorn, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean all should have won.
that's nuts! Hopefully next year as they're still eligible. The problem is the emmy has their favourites and Succession is even better than BCS
Definitely odenkirk and banks

Yeah, Hamm has to come off as more reserved, cool and in charge. That's hard to keep up after seeing how much Hamm is not like that at all lol.
What Hamm did was as rich and difficult as Cranston but Hamm had to do it on a smaller scale, its a reserved tone
Hamm was way better. Cranston is totally overblown.

Jon Hamm = Larry David Jr.
The two best series ever broadcast at the same time.
I don't remember The Sopranos being broadcasted at the same time with Man Men 🤔

Watching Mad Men finally. On season 3, now. Jon Hamm deserved an Emmy every year. Bryan Cranston, too.
Hamm still has the 2 golden globes for best actor over Cranston’s 1. So I guess it evens out. They’re both amazing

For being a brilliant actor, beyond handsome, and now very wealthy, Jon Hamm appears to be a very sweet and humble person. Much like Bryan Cranston.
I met him once in person and can confirm he's an absolute gent
What can you say about those 2 guys - probably the 2 best actors on television at the time.

Hey, big No Gravity fan! I got a quick question about the band…
Everyone knows Jon Hamm's greatest work was on 30 Rock!
He lives in a bubble!
it would be great to see them both in the same movie
This.
Not only that but the fact that they did the opposite with better call saul is the real crime

AMC was making some great choices back then. More recently, their most outstanding series was BCS.
