Greatest guitar playing I have heard in a while, hands down! What model jazzmaster is that? At first I thought it was a J Mascis signature, but noticed that the pickguard is different.
Thank you very much for your comment, really happy you enjoy my playing. It's a Vinter model, I changed the bridge to jaguar's one, the pickups are Seymour Duncan antiquitys II and change the pickguard also. GdL
@@GdLsMusicmerry xmas to you too. really appreciate your style. there are a lot of jazz players who all have the same muffled tone and play a ton of notes and crazy voicings. but they lack musicality, which you've got in spades. 👍
@@BLVINEOCKERMVN I've watched it about 60 times. I have almost figured out what GdL is playing (some parts). I am not a Jazz player. But I own a Jazzmaster the and this is the most beautiful song. Love Kenny Burrell's and Paul McCartney's version, but this arrangement is even better than those.
Very nice! I'm surprised you're not using the rhythm circuit, as it sounds really mellow. The action looks really low, too. I need to set mine up a bit better, and get something closer to that.
Thank you, I like the rhythm circuit but prefer to use the "normal" volume knob. Yes I put the action as low as possible but I can still do bending all over the neck. GdL
That's mad smooth man. Are you using 250k pots on that jazzmaster or did you lower the pickup heights or something it sounds nice and warm and not ear piercing like most jazzmasters are with the 1 meg pots.
trust me, when you can see the fretboard and the picking hand this clearly, it's well worth it to try and learn it a few seconds at a time by yourself. use the loop feature on UA-cam to help
David Gilmour in my heart, Pat Metheny in the jazz world. But I don’t listen to both of them anymore. I already know a lot of their stuff by heart and also because I don’t want to imitate them. GdL

Don’t want to be rude but i’ve spent a lot of time playing with the same stuff (i mean the same guitar, amp, cable, pick ..) and I felt the sound was different every day .. so i really understood that the sound is in our Head and it’s our job to get it as close as we can. So if i Don’t feel like I’ve found my sound First thing I think is “Do I know How I want my sound to be?”. If the asnwer is “No” than I go listen the people I like and I try to understand what their sound is about and try to incorporate into mine. Sorry for the long answer! GdL

how do you practice? im trying to get into jazz but not sure where i should start in terms of playing chords/etc. (been playing for almost 3 years and mostly play by ear)
Start learning chords with scales and arpeggios that goes with it. Learn stuff by ear (it doesn’t have to be hard stuff) like little melody of tunes: Billie’s bounce, Barbados by Charlie Parker. Start learn the different shape of the chords and whats about. I personally take a tune and improvise over it making sure the time is clear, using dynamics and the chords are clear even though i’m playing only one note. GdL
Crazy really. It's not as though it doesn't have "Jazz" in the name, or anything! Those pickups only truly wake up when certain "jazzy" sounds are put through them.
@@GdLsMusic no problem mate, I’m only 27 but I’ve been playing guitar now for 17 years - I can spot a great player from a mile away and can see it here. there's not enough jazz on jazzmasters on youtube in my opinion.
