    These are loads of fun. If it is bespoke from Montblanc , you get a chance to add text to the sides of the nib. Don't see it on this one.

      Loooooads of fun :D yup - ive seen that you can actually put your signature laser engraved on the side :D that can add a whole lots of unique personalisation to such a nib

    Pelikan had a bespoke nib service, but got rid off it during Covid. For only 40€ euro extra on top of the normal price of a new nib Pelikans nib master developed a nib according to your wishes together with you in Hannover. But you couldn‘t get something like the Montblanc. They used a nib with a very, very big iridium point, which they could grind in many ways. And you had to go to Hannover personally. If you bought a new pen in their shop, you could get the bespoke nib for 40€.

      hmmm this had to slip, that Pelikan had such a service :D I wish I would have a look at a few examples of what they could offer as a nib customisation.

    For ordering this nib do you need to do the electronic writing test or is that process only for customizing narrower nibs?

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  Рік тому

      Im not completely sure that these signature bespoke nibs require this E. writing test since its more of a static tipping - in a more flexy or other than italic grind - I think they use that electronic writing test

    Fascinating work of art and engineering! As you said, considering what it takes to make one of these, the price is very reasonable. Plus, it's like having a whole nib collection all housed in one single grail pen body.
    Thanks for showing us, Emy. Keep up the great work!

      Well said! This thing has to be made by specialists and I cannot imagine how much practice goes in welding, adjusting and putting together such a nib :D Thank you for your feedback

    Subscribed! Didn't know the neat trick about different size strokes!!
    I do enjoy my MB 149 Calligraphy a lot and my MB 149P O3B nib.
    I did see the MB 149 Italic Edge from a collaboration with a store in Germany but didn't pull the trigger. If i would of known about the different size strokes, most likely the pen would be on my desk!

      :D thank you Michael - these special nibs show up sometime on the market, if you have the chance to get one that the person selling it wants an ideal price - is a good way to pick up something special

    That's a great video, Emy! Love your enthusiasm!
    For now, I wouldn't spend that money on this special, impressive nib. I don't feel a desire to have it. Am still trying out different brands of pens, different nib sizes, to learn what I like and what I don't like/like less. In this research phase, I feel it's too early to do such an investment.

    Montblanc is a "Boss-Filler". I have three of them, two 164 and one 149. They are all excellent writers, I do like the nib of the 149 a little better though!
    That piece you have there is obviously stunning! If I had one I would use it for contracts or important documents!

    Really interesting nib - which it has to be at that price! :) Looks like a better way to go than say the zoom nib, in terms of a nib that does it all. I'm sure it takes a lot of practice to maximize the value and results from a tool like that! Thanks for the video.

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  Рік тому

      Totally agree - this nib takes a lot of practice and also I think its one of those pieces that puts you our for a very long time from buying anything else :)) since its both expensive and offers like 4 or 5 nibs in one package

    You are really good and have a great style handwriting. But with clipped nibs, you still have to figure out as much and get some style.

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  Рік тому

      Thank you Claudio - please explain what clipped nibs are so I can understand what are you referring to.

      Thank you for the question. I believe that with a nib equipped with a flat head, such as Stub, Italic, and also Bespoke, you need to look for the contrast that exists between a fine stroke given by writing cut and the broad stroke by translating the nib. By writing cut you also have a useful autoguide that helps you in the writing style. The way you used, I don't think it's ideal, to write that way a sharpie is enough. What do you think ? Sorry for my english. @@pen.venture

    I love the MB 146 with a fine nib which my wife purchased for my 55th birthday. It joins my personal grail pen collection that includes pens such as your collaboration Pen Venture Leonardo MZ Grande 2.0 limited edition Nero with gold trimmings (my favourite pen), a Visconti Homo Sapien Bronze age made with mount Etna lava, bronze trimmings and a gold fine nib. I also love two Kilk pens (the NovaBaroque pen and green Epigram model) from Turkey which are stunning and extremely well designed and tuned. I also have a Pelikan M400 in traditional colours (green stripes), Custom Pilot 823, a Heritage 912 with an soft FA nib and a Pilot Falcon. I have the usual run of the mill fountain pens too like the TWSBI's, Sailor regular and mini as well as Kaweco pens (including the AL special editions) but I don't own one pen with a bespoke nib like this. I'm still saving for my Pilot Namiki Emperor Urushi pen which I know will cost a fortune but would love to own! :) Nice to see you appreciate other brands Emy. The MB seems to get a lot of hate these days as being a boring pen and over priced (only because so many people copy it then proceed to purchase the cheaper version and I think they try to justify their purchase). A real MB is a status pen that really set the scene when it came to quality and still holds true now which everyone knows and I love mine knowing it's not a rip-off that someone company stole the intellectual property (I won't name companies). Others may differ in opinion but lets face it, the copies are nowhere near as good and when I let someone use my MB they love and they can honestly feel the quality and difference to a knock-off because the materials used and the nibs are well built with the nibs tuned extremely well. Keep the videos coming Emy. Your a great ambassador to the fountain pen industry!

      The line up you put here - makes on the list of true grail pens for most of not all collectors. The whole point of the channel was not only to present what Pen Venture has to offer to its clients, but a mix in between educative and original content that cover not only some brands but overall a very varied point of view on all matters related to fountain pens. Thank you for your appreciation and feedback on my content

      @pen.venture I was warned that when I started this journey it was going to be like going down a rabbit hole. It definitely grabbed me and pulled me in but I love it as it has also taught me to appreciate writing by hand again and the fact I journal a lot now. Being a veteran I was told to journal to help me through my rehabilitation process and buying my first fountain pen definitely helped as I wasn't much of a writer before. These beautiful pens inspire me to continue and your videos also help keep me motivated. I have you to thank for that!

      It is indeed a rabbit hole this hobby - but im like 7+ years in it, possible even more but I set my point of start when I started to collect pens that are a little bit more expensive and really got to try nice things - I have to say I dont regret falling for fountain pens at all - because of the love and passion for them, I got to meet beautiful people, evolve as a man, as a business and as a content creator - I learned to speak in front of an audience, to be articulated and knowledgeable, traveled the world and seen nice things - created tons of friendships and memories. I owe everything to them and to you all my people
