    Your media center build is absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve seen, especially with all the detailed info you’ve shared! I’m totally inspired and hope to do something similar one day. I did watch your videos twice though, hoping to catch how you placed the AV receiver. Does it get hot in the Besta unit? Also, I’d love to know how you managed the wiring for the whole surround setup, especially the back channels. You touched on the front speakers a bit, but I’m curious about the entire setup. Could you make another video showing how you wired everything? Oh, and what AV receiver are you using? Any room correction software used? Are you planning to run Atmos speakers? That would be so cool to see! Can’t wait for more! Peace!

    Wow, that’s great raw material cost control on the build! I was expecting between 8-10K commercial value for just the construction portion. I definitely underestimated the total labor time. Very nicely done 👍👍

    Glad I saw the original video just a few days ago & subscribed. Love what you've made here. I also loved the attention to detail, like taking the time to make sure all of those Ikea cabinet doors were flush. Aside from the skills to do a project like this, you guys also have a great eye for design. Looking forward to more!

    A beautiful build, the unit is very impressive with huge impact on the space.
    Thank you for the step by step breakdown of the construction in videos #1 and now the cost and acquisition analysis in video #2. I was amaze at the base cost of the build overall. Something that I could do in increments, beginning with the cabinets.
    I have subscribed and am looking forward to your next diy project.

    Hesitating on choice in materials has put a lot of our projects on the backburner. That and the ever impending doom that if I DIY something I'll be calling a carpenter in the end anyway. I NEVER would have thought to use the concrete for that wall either. Great stuff.

    I absolutely love this media center, it is the exact style I would like to build. Funny you mentioned that it’s Tricorn Black and that you love Iron Ore, I painted my house Iron Ore and all trim Tricorn Black. I would love to connect with you as I have been renovating my house the last 2 years and have a very similar style. Everyone has said I should start a channel to document and if you’re open I’d love to chat and pick your brain a bit! You do fantastic work and it’s great to see someone else not doing “modern farmhouse” as their style 😂

    You mentioned you have four different lighting zones. Any chance you could expand and how you did this more? I see that you used 4 remotes for the different zones, but do you have different power supplies for each? I'm just not quite understanding how you separate all the lights. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Great pair of videos, great looking results, I think this was a fantastic transformation to watch. I love that you answered so many really key questions people have for projects like this, too. Amazing job, to both of you.
    Adding my own two cents here, for those with MUCH tighter budgets out there (like myself), I love the look of the Mainstays 5-shelf bookcase in black and they are 6't x ~24"w x ~12"d for usually around $35 - $40 each. I have been redecorating my office lately and a couple of those on each side of the beautiful 60"w x 30"d used dining room table I found on offer up for $100 to serve as my desk has completely transformed the space to something that I am very proud of.
    Don't be one of those people that tries to put down creators based on their access to funds, tools, etc. It's played out and boring. Just because you don't have the money and/or time to do large, custom projects on this scale doesn't mean that redecorating and renovation is beyond your capabilities and means. Use videos like this as your inspiration to find the way to accomplish it on your time and in your budget :D

    Love your video's! Quick note about the subwoofer. You can easily place the sub behind the sofa, and if you pick up a wireless kit from Klipsch, you dont need to run a signal wire to the receiver, so no cables going over the floor : )

    Nice build! Just 1 recommendation for the speakers, check the isoacoustic stands, it will make a huge huge difference in the sound of your bookshelves speakers. It isnt an audiophile snake oil product. The speakers will sound less boomy and more tight on bass. You can add shorter or taller poles depend what u prefer. Usually the tweeters needs to be at ears level when seated.
    Keep the good work!
    Also check for ambilight systems for led around the tv, it makes it really immersive and nowdays there is plug and play kits. Mine was a raspberry pi,capture video card setup. Now I bought a 85inch sony tv and will probably add a kit instead,even if the diy version was amazing and fully custom,wiyh each led adrrssable instead of multiples driven together in most kits.

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  10 місяців тому +2

      Thank you! The speakers came with cork on the bottom but it is pretty thin, so I may upgrade it. And I strongly considered buying the ambient light system for the TV, but ended up just sticking with the standard LEDs. Because of the slats and the wall being black, I felt the effect would be distracting and not look the greatest. I feel it works best on a flat, white wall. We may still add them elsewhere in the house though

    By the way, I absolutely love the way you did the floating shells on either side of the TV section. I seen floating shelves done, but none quite as effective as these, where you used leftover bits of half inch (?) plywood to mount the floating shelves on. What a great use of your material and what sleek shelves you produced.

  • @thehonestman26
    @thehonestman26 10 місяців тому

    First off, I am actually very appreciative of your transparency. I might just have to copy your setup. I do have a question since I am also into sound and video. Is your receiver in the cabinets, and can the remote work through the doors you have? I also have Klipsch speakers but have seperates for audio components which tend to be deeper. If I did this setup, I might have to go down to a single receiver and wanted to see how it was working out for you.
    You're setup is so clean, that if you can't hide your cables, another option to consider is getting some angled Klipsch ceiling speakers that match your setup for the rears and a wireless dongle for the sub. And if you're in the ceiling anywyas, you might as well throw some Atmos speakers up there while you're there. lol. Thanks for your videos.

    What you said about watching TV - I could not agree more. I have family members whose TV are mounted above the fireplace and I find myself preferring to stand than to sit and strain my neck to watch TV. While a projector TV was a good idea, I think the call to go with an OLED TV is better simply due to the amount of lights.
    Maybe I missed it, but what exactly is Bianca's 9-to-5 job? I would love nothing more than to work 100% remote, even as an engineer - I am actually a Value Stream Process Engineer IRL.
    The total cost is better than I expected. I was thinking the entire build would be over $10k, so for it to be under $8k is very impressive. Now, I grant that if this was being built by a contractor, then yeah, the cost would be through the roof.

    Hi. Great job and very good video.
    It would be interesting to know what tools you used, which brands you chose and why and their cost. I think this is an important factor to ensure the quality and the efficiency of the job.
    Thanks

      Tools, and especially their brand, are not what should hold people back from doing work like this. ALL of it could be accomplished with a Ryobi circular saw, Ryobi router, Ryobi miter saw, and Ryobi power and/or air tools.

      @@failfurby Thanks. I never worked wood but I’d like to try doing something like this. Sincerely, I don’t know the first thing but good tools seem to me to be a must.

    i enjoy all of your videos, i have a 77 C1, this is a great project id like to mimic, what was the most difficult part of the build skill wise?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  10 місяців тому

      That's a great TV! Skill wise, the hardest parts were gluing up and fitting the countertop in place (making the whole thing square/straight along with making the joints seamless) as well as routering the slots in the floating shelves for the LED channel (mostly because it is very easy to screw it up and accidently go off line)

      We did consider it and it was actually the plan at the start of the project. However, it does not work well with a black backdrop. The wall behind the TV should really be pure white for the effect to work properly.

    Did you run any of the rear speaker wires through the ceiling or baseboards? Just curious how to keep that wiring clean haha. The entertainment area turned out great!

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  10 місяців тому +1

      Our rear speakers sit on a table behind the couch (not in-wall or in-ceiling). So the only way to truly hide the rear speaker wire would be to cut a hole in the floor and run it underneath to the media center which we did not want to do. So the next best option was to run it under the rug. The few wire that you see to the left of us are those wires. There really wasn't any other option, but we plan to hide them with an oak wire cover so they blend in a bit more. Hope that helps!
