Theres a lot of negative comments about Tv heights etc, at the end of the day this is all personal preference. What you cant fault though is the quality of the work and the video presentation so top marks for that, really impressed.
I don’t think they are negative. It’s more to do with tilting your head up to watch the tv. My comment was bottom of tv to your eyeline or top of head. That has always been the correct placement within AV installations. Nothing to do with preference always to do with head position and correct ergonomics. A DIY installer would place it anywhere
@@coreythomas9178Yes, some people are ignorant and some people are not. This placement is objectively too high for the human anatomy. Form over function.
Always impressed by how easy you make things look. I'd like to watch another one of your videos about how to add a socket plug in a room where there is few that are not easily accessible.
Great build. One question. Would it be better to cut out the plaster board recesses for the lighting before the unit is plastered to remove any chance of cracking rhe plaster?
tip - see how you like looking at various parts of the wall for extended periods of time before you decide how high to put the tele. my neck much prefers it about level with my eyes when sat on the sofa. also think about whether a corner of a room is not a better place to put it. more seats might get a good viewing angle in a corner.
Great video and I will definitely using this as a guide when attempting myself. One thing I want to ask is did you take into account the thickness of the plasterboard when working out your measurements?
Looks great! However, one modification I would have to make is to angle the sides & top of the Soundbar aperture to 45 degrees as my bar has side & upwards firing atmos speakers. Presumably you would cut triangular wedges to achieve fixing for plasterboard
Yeah - very important to understand the properties of any speaker before recessing the installation - especially if it's an Atmos soundbar (which the Playbar isn't of course)
Thanks for this. Helps us to stop getting robbed. I get fireplace cost money but when someone is charging 4 n half grand for a media wall fack off I get you want profit but your taking piss
These things look tacky and outdated too me. That TV is far too small and fixed far too high up, you'll creak your neck watching it. Much rather invest in a high end set of sideboards, a large oled TV and channel the walls out to hide all the cables, the room will look and feel so much bigger too.
Excellent job Cam. Love the future proofing idea with the pipes as well. I recently chased out and spurred a socket to go behind my TV (I finally had enough of the unsightly black cable running down the wall to the main socket). Lovely wire-free wall for a while but then purchased a sound bar and now have the ugly wire connecting the tv to soundbar on show. With more foresight I would fitted something like your pipes when I had the wall chased out earlier but instead I now have to get cutting into the plaster and brickwork again. Oh well! Couple of queries/observations - might it have been easier to do single vertical timbers first then the horizontals and then the second vertical timbers so that you could screw at 90degrees into the horizontals if that makes sense? And for the plastering - I’ve done a bit of tape and jointing in my time but never full skimming. Would a job like that lend itself to tape and joint? Thanks.
Hey thanks for the feedback. Agree there maybe a better way to screw the whole thing together(I didn’t put a huge amount of thought into that). I don’t think tape and joint is a great idea just because of the amount of tapered edge joints you would need.
Very nice build from start to finish and I can definitively see the appeal of it. I would however echo some of the comments below that its layout seems very specific to your current equipement. It would be a shame to be constrained in your equipement choices 5y down the line because of your media wall, but I feel this is likely to happen. Personally I would rather retain the flexibility and compromise on the aesthetic, but as I said it does not take anything away from the quality of your build 👍
Thanks but that just depends if you want to do a proper job or not. There are many ways to achieve the same result but it’s the little differences that matter in my opinion.
Loved the video. My husband built our TV wall into the chimney breast with my supervision of course. A lintel at the top and then the stud work like yourself. I much preferred watching you do it
You should remove “ Anyone can build this!”. That is ridiculous ,not everyone has skills to do carpentry, be a plasterer and some competent electrician work. You didn’t even do the plastering so how do you expect someone with no skills to do so. Maybe a slight title change would make more sense

I really don’t see why people are feeling so free to have a pop about the TV height and all the rest of it. Nicely done and great instructions. Which bracket did you use for the soundbar? I'm going to fit an extendable bracket so I can pull the sound bar forward when Dolby Atmos is being blasted. Upward firing speakers won't have the right effect when the soundbar is ticked away in the hole
A good job done there. Depending on what electrical appliances you are installing, TV, sound bar, sky box etc you should always consider that the appliances will create heat, especially the TV. Make sure there is enough space around the appliances so heat can escape and cooler air can circulate.

You realise by putting a soundboard with top and side firing speakers in there has completely ruined what it does? I like the look of these setups, but they never seem to actually account for how AV systems work. And I also worry that what fits in a space now, won't in a few years time when it's replaced. Think games consoles, sky boxes even a new TV.

Great video, looks awesome. One question though. Wouldn’t it have been better to make the space large enough for a 55” TV instead of your current 50? 55 is a more common size and if you were to upgrade your TV you are limiting yourself to that size or smaller

Most designs put the TV way too high including this one. Unless you are fully reclined, this TV position looks very uncomfortable. The result may be a cool looking place. But I would not go as far to calling it a media room.
@@TheDIYGuy1It is a personal opinion no doubt; however I hate to see someone with limited space took your advise build a "media" room not knowing that mounting the TV so high is not for everyone. I think your room design has a very posh vibe but I just can't call it a media room since a media room's focus should on the audio and video experience. You "media room" has some caveats. You need some good reclining chairs as well a larger TV screens for it to work.
What is the depth of the media? I see 47x125. 47 mm is about 5’’ Did you buy it like that or you had to cut it that size? We only have 2”x4” here. I’m thinking to buy 2x10 and cut it in half to make it like yours Thanks!

Can you send me the link to the LED`s please. Also the recessed channel you used for the LED`s please.
Head to led space link in the description and use the online package builder. It’s very goood
Most designs put the TV way too high including this one. Unless you are fully reclined, this TV position looks very uncomfortable. The result may be a cool looking place. But I would not go as far to calling it a media room.
Been fine for the last 6 months. It’s personal opinion with media walls
@@TheDIYGuy1 not really a personal opinion center of the TV should be eye level when seated. If you are sitting on a portable ladder it is ok.
What were the LED lights called and what website please ? Oh and fantastic tutorial by the way 👍
Thanks. The link is in the description
Great media wall! What is the model number of those LED,s there web site has so many options. Thanks
Check out the online builder on their site. It will design the kit for you
What is the depth of the media?
I see 47x125. 47 mm is about 5’’
Did you buy it like that or you had to cut it that size?
We only have 2”x4” here. I’m thinking to buy 2x10 and cut it in half to make it like yours
Thanks!
Very impressive indeed and your explanation through out is top class young man 👍
Much appreciated!
I have skill for wood working, wood carving welding.... etc Are you hiring helper? 😊😊😊
Looking to build one myself reckon I could do it but struggling with markings. Could you help with exact same as you've done but with a 55inch tv and I fire instead of soundbar if I gave you wall measurements
wow - looks amazing - laminate floor / stairs etc..... possibly under floor heating ? Keep the vids coming
