Word of advice, DO NOT wear gloves when working with rotating parts of machines! If you run your hand into the blade, it might catch and PULL your hand in and do more damage. Pay 100% attention to your work. As a contractor working overseas on military bases, I had to get on SAFETY for not following the rules. They would tell workers to wear gloves when operating table saws and I had to correct them! These are the people who SHOULD know too!
I'm very impressed with you. I am a long-time builder. The fact that you said this is the first time you have done any woodworking I'm glad you found creative cheap solutions to create your build.
You really lucked out with how the room was already designed. The rock wall and fireplace, and the wood paneling really ties it all together. Would not look half as cool without those, tbh.
I do think he complemented what he had with the furnishings and design he chose. The rock wall fireplace is great on its own but the wood paneling is an old look that others may have decided on removing to replace with drywall (possibly to hang up posters or those sound proofing panels on). He made it work with the choice of color of his sofa and chaise lounge, as well as the wooden panels of his projector/TV stand.
Really love seeing videos like yours. I know a lot of people are sometimes impatient so they skip to the finished transformation but watching it from beginning to the end is so gratifying and makes one appreciate the hard work that went into building an awesome setup like yours. Thanks for the inspiration. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's really perfect work. I saw it and just thoutgh "why it's so crazy and cozy". Thank's for this video. People can to understand that little room it's not the end fantasy and we can to have more
Mike, nice job! Impressive transformation.🔥 You mentioned you were new to woodworking. I noticed you wearing glove while using the table saw. I was always cautioned against wearing gloves while using fast spinning power tools like saws, routers, and such because the glove can catch in them and pull your hand in. I actually had a college classmate lose a couple of fingers while wearing gloves and using a lathe. Whatever you do just be careful.
Just wanted to mention this and went to the comment section to see if anyone had mentioned it already. Glad you did! People, please don't ever EVER wear gloves if you're working with spinning power tools. Too many horror stories of people losing their fingers or hands because of this.
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥🔥🔥🔥TBH this is the 1st video I've seen of yours and was very impressed by the fact you said this was your 1st woodworking project and use of the table saw, and made that custom cabinet. Wow 🤯. The space came out amazing!!!
Looks fantastic! One thing you might consider upgrading in the future is having actual 5.1 surround sound speakers. Sound bars can work really well but I'm telling you once you get decent speakers you won't be able to go back. Especially since you have ceiling tiles, running speaker wire would be easy without them showing.
Love it! Looks super clean and warm and welcoming. The only thing I'd have to change is add an acoustic treatment and get rid of or cover up the god awful ceiling tiles. I hate those things so much. Its like have hub caps on a supercar. Ceiling tiles scream old hospital or office dingy office space. Hopefully you can find a solution for that in the future. Enjoy!
I enjoyed watching every minute of this. Great job. I probably would have removed the cork first before the panels, but it came out nice. Great job. You had a great vision here, and you executed it.
This looks awesome. I did a similar project (no nearly as involved tho) and the only thing I would recommend is painting the ceiling the same color as the dark accent wall. Use a matte finish and it will make a huge difference to the room. Amazing job on the TV cabinet tho, that thing is a work of art.
This was such a good watch, your office has always been such an incredible blend of good tech and inspiring design but this version is my favourite so far! Also, smashed it on the visuals - going to binge watch the rest of your videos now 👀
It turned out so nice, dude! I would never leave the house, lol. I never enjoyed a DIY video this much. The lighting, the theater, everything goes so well together. Definitely inspirational for when I get my own place! Thank you for making this video.
U should REALLY let the soundbar "tone-scan" the room again after changing anything about it! Since it works via reflecting the sound off surfaces, adding the Slat Panels, sofa & table, drastically changes the accoustics of the space! Also, how about putting a small firewood-storing shelf next to the 🔥fireplace on the right, to hide the wall outlet and cabel :) ..(it also improves accoustics a tiny bit and looks real cosy)
Visually looks very nice. For me though I’d do more darker everything, sound deadening, and an actual 7.2.6 atmos speaker setup. But completely understand given the space you worked with you probably can’t do a crazy speaker setup without spending a ton of money. Well done!
for the wood on longer lengths you can buy a stand with a iron roller ontop that will roll the wood forward as you cut it, they are for construction/home work. idk the name for them. when you have more guest over you Ould move the from sitting sofa back to sofa like the ottoman so everyone have feet up and comfy.
Your level of creativity is inspiring, and the makeover amazing. Must've been a great experience to see your thoughts and ideas materialise into reality. Kudos to you man 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾.
Unbelievable....i cant even visualise such setup in my dreams. Great work & looking forward to your more ideas of transformation in next couple of years.
I’ll second this. One of my best friends cut his thumb 80% off and luckily was able to get it reattached while using gloves with a miter saw. Spinning blades grab gloves and drag your hand into the blade. PLEASE NEVER WEAR GLOVES WHILE USING CIRCULAR SAWS
a Very CooL Theatre SetUp. Consider Adding TaLL Casters to Couch to Raise its Height above people sitting in Front & to facilitate reconfiguration of seating
Very well made video. You have skills. Considering the room you had to work with I give it a 8.5 out of 10. Glad you didn’t remove the knotty pine accent wall. I would do something different with that ceiling eventually. Definitely a cool room!
🚒I had to add the fire truck for all the "Fire" all up in here! Best part is that you do a lot of the work yourself and taking on that circular saw. Great, great content!
Hey Mike Wat, so great to learn about your new ideas and we are in South Africa, Johannesburg and we stay in Soweto. Thanks for sharing with the world.
Looks amazing..what a great job.. my only dislike would be the ceiling..I’m curious if you could take the tiles down and spray them Matt black..it would look much better than a typical office ceiling..
Would probably change out the carpet for hard floors, and not a fan of that coffee table, but it's your setup. That is a nice projection/soundbar setup there.
🔥🔥🔥 Naw bro, this setup is really well done! Kudos to you & your friends for helping set this up. Additionally, I’m a huge supporter of Sennheiser, they make some of the best headphones in the business! I didn’t know that they made home theater now?! It makes sense! I will definitely look at buying them & some Article furniture, which looks mad cozy & sleek! Thanks for sharing your homework; looking forward to achieving something similar for my next project.
This is cool...I'm definitely sold on setting up a home theater for my home it's nice to go out, but for movies I rather have my own set up at home...it's cheaper and a great way to keep our family entertained.
🔥I love how everything turned out with the lighting, love the projection screen how it goes up and down! beautiful choice of sofas and the automation process also.
Great idea 💡 to use a projector that can be let down to still have access to the windows. Nice job in transforming the out dated basement in a home entertainment room.👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🙏🏼🌏✌🏼🕊☮️
Bruh! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I like that it was your first wood working project...now you're a certified carpenter!😊 I know you gonna improve everything every time you get a opp to design so....Nice cozy look..good video...Peace
Since almost everything has been automated, I would have put a motor to the drawer of the projector that will pull out together with the blinds and screen. Overall, a very cool and smart project
Fire. I’m definitely going to subscribe. I’m actually in the market for a house and what a space just like this. Thank you so much for the time and effort that you’ve put into making this video. It’s definitely inspiration for me now.
Alright man, this was most impressive. Thanks for sharing your epic setup! I'm trying to build a similar setup. Can you share the Ikea units you used? You mention Besta but there are tons of options. Mostly trying to figure out how you did that middle shelf/drawer. Thanks again!
Rookie move on the painting. You should have used a matte or eggshell finish paint instead of a glossy paint. Glossy paints show the imperfections in your walls & they reflect the light from the projector.
What a fantastic project you have done Mike. 👌I actually enjoyed watching this video from the beginning till the very end. Didn’t skip a bit . Definitely worth it. I’m subscribed 😊
Wow everything it's just perfect! The room completly change the mood and i love that. It's super coazy and i wolud literally pass the entire day in there. Also amazing job with the besta modified just for the projector. Really loved and enjoied all the process, hope to see other videos kinda like this! Greetings from Italy ❤👋

the room definitely had quite a character to it!

With that type of ceiling, the surround sound setup possibilities are endless! Great work.
im more impressed with the fact you have a friend that is willing to help you with your home projects
What a fantastic home theater! Well done, Mike! Setting the bar really high :D
Oh and 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Michael, really glad you liked the design!!
He has set the sound bar really high
So basically you built a beautiful mid-century basement theater room. Absolutely gorgeous job❤ kudos🎉🎉😊
🔥 nice job. Love that you left the wooden wall, gives a rustic feel but is counter balanced by the rest of the modern elements.
Carrying over Old Gold & mould perfectly with the New. How futuristic when it's under our budget? Great work man! 🔥
Your setups are always 🔥. This is the most realistic home theater setup I have seen, hopefully I can make one like this soon
Thanks buddy!!

Incredible build and mini renovation!! The room looks fantastic and I love the lighting choices. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

WoWzers! 😳 🤯💥 👀
Im literally blown away by this whole set. Time, Patience, Desire and Focus.
man i have never seen a video that made my jaw drop so much this is an absoloutely crazy home theatre, keep up the great work!
😀
Changing the ceiling panels to darker ones would also help with all of that light boucing from the top.
Oh yes for sure, that will be the next upgrade 🤓
Awesome work! Love the customized wood projects! Definitely well thought out

This Home Theater is incredibly magnificent! 🔥 You did a fantastic job on building this comfy and cozy modern home theater, Well done! 😘
aw thanks buddy, really glad you liked the design!!
Man those ceiling reflections are painful I would paint the drop down ceiling panels near the screen black. It would make the image look 10x better
For reals cringe 😬

For your first time using a table saw, wow. That was amazing! You've inspired me. Great creativity, great space. Congrats!!
Mike, what gadget is used to automate the blinds closing?
@18:33
The lighting brings it all together, superb job!
Why doesn't this video have 100 mil views, it's gorgeous ! That lighting is awesome !
Your level of creativity is inspiring, and the makeover amazing.
Must've been a great experience to see your thoughts and ideas materialise into reality. Kudos to you man 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾.
Love everything but the couch. That's deserving of theater seating. Sone seriously nice chairs and couches out there.
Your setups are always . This is the most realistic home theater setup I have seen, hopefully I can make one like this soon
"home theater" and the guy adds a freakin' soundbar 😄
probably got them for free sponsored by Sennheiser.

This is really awesome! The lights bring out another experience unimaginable. Love it 🔥🔥🔥
The sofa helped soften the wall. Nice transformation and great explanation of details. 🔥 except for the dancing at the end. Lol
You could also cover the paneled wall with more of the walnut slats - you tie in the other wall
wow!! this is an incredible transformation, I really enjoyed watching this video, you have very good taste, and lots of talent. BRAVO!!! 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
Very well made video. You have skills. Considering the room you had to work with I give it a 8.5 out of 10. Glad you didn’t remove the knotty pine accent wall. I would do something different with that ceiling eventually. Definitely a cool room!

Great job. One thing I would suggest is to darken the ceiling tiles.
What a welcoming space you’ve created. Love it. 🔥
I would put those vertical wood panels you got to cover the cork wall and also use them on the white walls by the stone fireplace.
Look nice 🎉🎉

I like your screen. 120" is a good size and it looks like it is fully tension. Nice build.
