I remember back when this dropped, we had MTVU in my dining hall in college. After like 6 months straight of Steve Aoki they randomly played this video. You could see everyone in there look up from their phones at the TV, like a spell had been broken. Thank you St Vincent.
Totally agree, I actually didn't like this song much when I first listened to it, but something always made me come back & loved it a little more each time. And now I can't stop listening to it.
I remember when this came out , it was during the big internet fascination with people who live streamed their entire lives min by min. Its sad how this song still resonates today.

I saw her in concert, I was very close to the stage and I touched her hand. She's absolutely stunning -I'm not even kidding. Best show I've ever seen. What an amazing experience.
Love this. It's like modernized 80's music. Not saying it's unoriginal at all, because it's totally awesome and unique. There's just some influences that shine though like The Talking Heads which is cool.
+Rolman80 80 Bro, she's saying you hate this song, then ironically list all the qualities of this song as things you like in 80's music, then repeat that you hate this song.

I'm very thankful for my music junkie friends introducing me to St. Vincent~ The sound is refreshing, and the guitar work is a personal favorite. Love Love Love 🎶
I was channel surfing tonight and stumbled into Austin City Limits tonight and I am seeing St. Vincent for the first time. Holy crap!!! What a unique sound and talent in this group. And a beautiful, talented front woman💪💪💪Reminds me of the first time I saw Grace Potter and the Nocturnals randomly on Austin City Limits. I was so blown away by Grace Potter that night. Grace and the band was so great sounding. I am truly impressed by what I'm watching right now. You can't beat Austin City Limits for finding a unique sounding band that SOMEHOW you have never heard of.
The people complaining that they don't understand what the song is about, is who the song is actually about. I love Annie Clark, I wish there were more artists like her.
+Dominique Temple it's all three. You could distinguish the trumpets by their higher notes, the saxophones by the slurs and the trombone because it played low
hunger993 do you know what the song is about? Social media and technology creating dissatisfaction and numbness in its user’s lives. It seems the message went over your head.
Saw St. Vincent in concert opening for the Black Keys this past month. Hadn't heard very much of her before then, but hot damn, I'm a fan now. Lots of great guitar work. This song is so damn catchy, too.
Yeah man, I saw her in austin and dallas this week, and goddamn, I don't think anyone will ever be able to top those two shows, or any of her shows, ever.
What's with the haters? I like this, she doesn't just keep putting out the same thing over and over, she does something new and different with each album.
The guitar part at 2:27 is STRAIGHT out of "Kiss." I saw her perform a couple weeks ago in Minneapolis and she gave a shoutout to Prince before performing "Sugarboy." My heart was warmed.
St. Vincent is a true artist, wether you want it or not, she writes beautiful and meaningful lyrics. Those texts tied to a creative and crazy production make incredible songs like this one and most of her discography.
Eno is the ever-present wisdomly grandfather who Annie has the closest bond with, and Steve Albini is the weird uncle with an abstract mind who she never connected with until adolescence and gave her her first guitar.
True. Still the most viewed vid on the official channel tho, and one of the most plays on Spotify. Los Ageless always comes up as her most popular song (and while it’s brilliant and worthy of the claim) it’s datas a little obscured by it being featured in tv soundtracks. Think it’s safe say Digital Witness still gets the attention it deserves
I am so lucky to've been born in a time where I get to watch you progress as an artist. Can't wait for the years and years to come. You are a great artist with an amazing vision. Thank you Annie, and everyone else involved.
Well it's definitely not POP, nor rock either. "Alternative", maybe, but alternative to what? It also sounds a little like "new wave" (which is "new" since 1978). Well, I can tell you one thing for sure, it's jolly good fucking MUSIC

What some of these negative commentators may not know is that Annie Clark is a virtuosic guitarist and an impeccable singer. If you ever get a chance to see her live, you'll realize just how jaw-droppingly talented she is.

I just recently saw her and the way the whole band said “ya” was so funny. She actually started laughing after one.

Totally agree, I actually didn't like this song much when I first listened to it, but something always made me come back & loved it a little more each time. And now I can't stop listening to it.
People need to be disturbed by music more often. Thank you St. Vincent.
Agreed
Exactly. If I wanted to be comforted id wrap myself up in a blanket and take a nap. id rather be challenged. feel all the emotions.
What's disturbing is the truth found in the lyrics.
disturbing is Animal Collective - Peacebone
This is more of a film score than a song though. It’s too weird and just not catchy or memorable…it’s definitely interesting, just not a good song.
