I'm obsessed with this song, too. The video is an absolute work of art: it should have won awards. And the combination of the song and the video, I just wish it could go on forever, and that I could be in there with them! I wish my screen could suddenly get bigger and engulf everything, and me with it.
I know when you first listen this song you don't feel that it's right (coz you haven't listened to something like this ever before) but then after one or two repeats, this is kinda crazy that this song goes deep into your soul subconsciously. You are stuck with this song forever and then you start to realize that what meaning it has. Beautiful depiction of life. No matter what are you doing whether sleeping or staying awake doing your job this monument 🏛 keeps playing in your head and soul. I know this is something I can't explain but this is happening to me ever since I discovered it. I want this song to be, "when I'm gone" song for me.
Yes it definitely is original and beautiful. To be honest, from the first time listening this song I did feel that it is right - well, it became an everyday song. Can't take my 'ears' off it.
I lost my dad last year to brain cancer (glioma stage 4). This song makes wanna cry every moment, thinking what the hell was going on inside his had before his last breath. I wish I could comfort him of all the pain and the terror of the unknown.
OMG I felt that. The truth, I believe, is you could not have truly empathized with him on his trip to the unknown, because you'll only know it when you make it yourself. But if he felt your love before passing, you gave him all you could, and to him that would have been enough.Love was the only and best thing you could give, and you gave it. You did enough, honey.😗😗💓💓❤
We know that the brain makes us feel happy when we are dieing, the "Heaven" feeling many that return have. While it seems very mean to say this, you shouldn't focus on the last days of his life, but the many years shared. The love doesn't go anywhere.

It's amazing what one can do with PLC synthesisers, Korgi Organs and Beat Box Electro Drum banks. All this gear was mothballed back in the late 80's. What goes around eventually comes around, age has excluded me from acceptance but I always love to hear artist's keeping the dream alive. Poetry, the rhythm of the body and sweet sounds are what it's all about. It's timeless. Cheers.
This may be one of my favorite songs of all time! Certainly makes my top five! I’ve played it on repeat literally hundreds of times. It’s just perfect!
This song means something different every single time I hear it. It evokes so much emotion. This is a spectacular and well written song. Gorgeous. They collaborate so well. It really is special.

@@positivehighvibesx Hi, I think MONUMENT is unic. But in the past I liked listening WOODKID - IRON or not so known THOMAS AZIER - SHADE OF BLACK. 🎵 🎶 🎧
It seems weird that such a trippy video is not even about drugs, meditation or some religious experience. Robyn described this song as being "about death", "defining who you are" and "a physical sensation of an emotion," inspired by the Juliana Cerqueira Leite clay sculptures she saw at London's Saatchi Gallery. The song's music clip was directed by Robyn's frequent collaborator Max Vitali. The director explained that the video is about, "exploring the space around you and finding your own space in it all."
The first time I heard this song was when A-ha played it on their speakers when they did their concert at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in the UK in 2022. I LOVE this song! 😍
The monument is your body. If you just listen to the words ( because this type of beat is meant to hypnotize you) she is being spoken through by the force. It is declaring her body as it's territory. It's serious, guys.
I had no idea Robyn used to be a pop princess. When I found out, first I was disappointed, but now I am actually impressed by the nerve and bravery to join with Royksopp, and her voice is perfect for it.
Evolution of pop is different in all countries. In the 2000's when pop went more rnb in the US, it went more indie in Sweden with bands like The Knife, Kent, The tough alliance, the hives, håkan hellström, broder daniel, Robyn etc
@@davidLAMF I’ve heard of Kent and The Knife, not the others. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Robyn was a pop singer long before she collaborated with Royksopp, wasn’t she? Sweden has always produced successful pop, and also death metal. Wasn’t aware if the indie scene at all.
@@PersonalityMalfunction Yes when she dropped her first album I think she was 16, but she is still considered a pop star, at least here. I think maybe our view of what it means to be a pop artist is different. It is not considered negative to be a pop artist. Indie scene here was huge, at least in 2000's when it was a thing in UK too, which of course influenced Sweden. Karin from the knife started out in a more indie rock kind of band called Honey Is Cool (not very good IMO). The Concretes, Lykke Li, Mando Diao, The Radio Dept, could argue The Cardigans played indie rock. At some point electronic indie started taking over. Though I'm getting older so I'm not staying as up to date as back in the day :)
@@davidLAMF Tell me about it, brother, I spent my miss spent youth listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb and Front 242. I don’t think the label of pop star is in itself negative. I myself have found Britney Spears and Katy Perry soothing in my old age! Just the usual poserism of wanting to be seen as being on the fringe! I’ve heard of Lykke Li and of course the Cardigans, but the other bands you mention are completely foreign to me. Going for a UA-cam dive!

In my humble opinion, I feel the video perfectly depicts the fragility and vulnerability which Robyn's voice carries through the song. Robyn's face in this video looks to me a lot like David Bowie's. I don't know if that's intentional. But I like the style. The moment when Thorbjørn gives that oh so little smile touched my heart. The song is great. It's inevitably progressing, striding, pumping, it has certain stages, it's rich in sound. I love the autotuned oh-oh-oh-oh after the word 'gone'. It's a song that will last. I find the whole piece exceptionally emotional and i love the song a lot. These are just some thoughts and feelings that i have about the song and the video. I hope you don't mind that they lack interconnection. @Robyn, please tell us the words you said between the audible parts, in the beginning. Seeing your mouth move without hearing the words made me so curious. Would you please take the time and tell me?

I'll change my mind if you show me more songs in this environmental, ethereal, mystical, spiritual footprint...
If all the songs were like that, they would be quite a group...
This song and this clip is a philosophical.. work of art... the rest... it's just fun dancing songs
@@Diego_Curcino Why on earth would you want any artist to have all songs in their opus in a same manner? That is the beauty of Royksopp in particular, no two albums are the same. Melody A.M. f.ex. in one of the best electronic music albums ever made.
Here's a few other gems to discover: eple, in space, here she comes again, if you want me, what else is there... I mean, do your homework man, wtf?
Not the kind of video you show family or friends at a party, but absolute bliss to witness in solitude. Wow.
I'm still obsessed with this masterpiece and I listen to it on repeat for days sometimes 😅this is one of those many days

You are correct sir....
Yes sir
Oh, im so sorry to hear that.
We know that the brain makes us feel happy when we are dieing, the "Heaven" feeling many that return have. While it seems very mean to say this, you shouldn't focus on the last days of his life, but the many years shared. The love doesn't go anywhere.
Io ho perso mia Mamma per un cancro al cervello... posso capire molto bene il tuo dolore. L'ho vista spegnersi giorno per giorno... sono passati 7 anni ed il dolore è sempre lì. Ti abbraccio da lontano😔
I feel for you but how lucky you are I lost my dad at the prime age of 2 weeks old not nice never met him but if you believe in jesus then the resurrection will fall in your lap may jehovah be with you sorry about your loss x
A message to the future generations: "DON'T LET THIS SONG DIE" 💞👌😊👍

I am in absolute awe of this. The subtelty, depth, incantation-like quality... The creative and unexpected elements (her mouthing of words unheard, and the unexpected, smooth, dreamy saxophone)... What I love most is the feeling that it left so much unsaid.

Lyrics
Make a space
For my body
Dead or whole
Push this side apart
This is what I'm controlling
It's a mold, the inside that I cart
This will be my monument
This will be a beacon when I'm gone gone gone
When I'm gone gone gone
When I'm gone
Soon when that moment comes,
I can say I did it all with love love love
All with love love love
All with love
Make a cast of my body
Pull back out,
So that I can see
Make a world
Are you ruling?
Make a world
That I used to be
I will let this monument
Represent a moment of my life life life
Of my life life life
Of my life
I will let this monument
Represent a moment of my life life life
Of my life life life
Of my life
Make a cast of my body
Pull back out,
So that I can see
Make a world
Are you ruling?
Make a world
That I used to be
Dead or whole
- dig a hole
Not cart, but carve. Not pull back out, but pull back now. Not that, but what I used to be.

For me, this is one of those songs that you kinda dismiss the first few times hearing it, then all of the sudden it hooks you and you fall in love.

I heard it live yesterday in Katowice on Tauron Nowa Muzyka festival and I can't stop listening it. And listening to it live it was awesome, and those lights, wow! I'll remember it forever! 🥰
I love Metal - nearly exclusively listen to my favorite bands. And here comes youtube and suggests this song to me. The first time, YT changed my life for the better! o. O I dig that songs for whatever reason - won't get out of my head.
i can not imagine a more sophisticated way of expressing feeling of anxiety. this is pure art. this is the represantation of what david represents for sculpture, in music. times i listen this sing, are the only times i feel like it is still worth to be alive and still to be capable of feeling somethings. thanks people for creating music like this.

Cant say it defines lsd trip and death of ego can he? ;)

resonates very much with "space consciousness" as explored/explained by Eckhart Tolle

The first time I heard this song was when A-ha played it on their speakers when they did their concert at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in the UK in 2022. I LOVE this song! 😍
My favorite Robyn song/collab. Also, can we all recognize how she brought back the mullet before it became popular again? Ahead of the game!
2014/15 seems like it was a nostalgic little window of time right before shit hit the fan again.
Listening this song for the first time with closed eyes, literaly gave me goosebumps. A simple yet extraordinary masterpiece.
The monument is your body. If you just listen to the words ( because this type of beat is meant to hypnotize you) she is being spoken through by the force. It is declaring her body as it's territory. It's serious, guys.
I frikkin love this song. It's a go-to when I need to shake off a slump or get moving. I always have to listen to it at least twice in a row.
This song is beautiful, and the video is riveting!

I had not heard monumnet until like this week. I am obsessed with it though. I love this track. I am so gald Röyksopp & Robyn made it
So many extraordinary songs on Royskopp,s The Inevitable End album, the beautifully sad "You know I have to go" is stunning.
This music made me cry today. Don't know why. Felt like it's touching my soul.
... as a all of slow Roksopp slow songs...
Me too.
This has an ethereal, new age, transcending vibe to it which I love. Very soothing and meditative.
This is pure art. This song is art, this composition is art, this video is art. Thank you so much for let us feeling these emotions
