DONT take as much hair as the first girl did! For the hime part you want to take a triangular hair section like normal bangs. Don't bring the section all the way to the ear, it's too much hair. So if you already have straight bangs which were cut with a triangle section, isolate that section and take a little bit of hair to make that triangle wider, like 1.5cm/1 inch at each side max. It's always easier to take more hair after the initial cut. If it's still not enough hair, make the triangle section slightly bigger by going higher towards the crown! Small steps!
It depends if you hace thick or thin hair, personally I'm on the thicker side and doing triangular sections ended on it looking like weird hidden chops 😅 Doing a thicker section was better in my case

It is also usually straightened it perfectly and the front pieces that I see are thinner and the whole cut is not really layered. It's often mixed with the Korean trend thin bangs. I wish my hair obeyed an iron like that.
I'm having hime cut for the last 12 years and it's the nicest framing for the face! you can also play around with thickness and length so you change it up occassionally
I did this Hime cut myself when I was an elementary school kid back in 19XX. We don’t get it done at hair salons. Just cut by ourselves. Now I have the opposite length ratio, longer on the side and the rest short.
Been cutting my hair myself as a hime cut for a very long time and it’s just muscle memory now. I remember my first few times cutting it so short and thin. (My hair is thick) I always straighten my hair and now using XMondo products. It really helped a lot.❤

There was one time in 2021 I went to get a trim because the rest of my hair was pretty long (grew it from 2016 just above my shoulders to my butt by 2021) and the hair stylist seemed baffled as to why I cut my hair like that lol. I was also 50lbs heavier back then and it worked really well to thin my face out.

Asian people are so beautiful and I envy their beautiful dark straight hair. This hairstyle compliments their face shape so good. I think they are definitely wearing this hairstyle the best ❤️👍
I did this cut a decade ago in my early 20s (but by a stylist). It’s a fun hair cut for sure. Doesn’t look good on everyone but it’s fun to experiment with your hair when you’re young. I like the more wispy versions of it and hadn’t seen it done like that at the time. Mine was blunt and I had thicker hair than now
The hime haircut is very hard to pull off. I've seen a lot of people irl attempt it and 9 out of 10, they always end up looking like a hot mess. Its one of those styles that look awesome in anime, cosplay, or in a doll, but doesn't translate that well irl.
Every "stupid" looking Style that isn't flattering to the natural human shape only looks good on people who are a) high class (rich) and b) really confident. And the "Home/jellyfish/stair" Style is like the buffon or Liberty spikes a "stupid" style. The egyptian did it, the menoans did it, the aztecs and the the Chinese (i think han?) did it. We as humans are a surprisingly reppetivte species. Every once in a while the weird styles come back and everyone is acting like it is the new shit when people did it 5000 years ago.
I think it's just a style that is very particular based off how your hair naturally lays, shape of the face, health of the hair, And most importantly how they style it after. Most people would likely have to style their hair after to make it look good and have it look good with their outfit. Most people's probably cut too much hair, cut it uneven, and didn't bother trying to look good in after styling. Those princesses likely didn't just roll out of bed and have already preexisting damaged hair from previous bleachings. They had healthy virgin hair and had to look always done up and prestine. Everything adds up on a haircut that stands out bluntly, so everything wrong with your hair will stand out too.
@@CallMeGameGirl Back in the day, that hairstyle is like a status symbol, it wasn't really worn for fashion so we will never know if they ever really looked good on them by today's standards. And its not just the hair type, it only suits very specific face shapes and proportions. Even for an asian like myself, it wouldn't suit me at all unless I try extra hard with my make-up.
I feel like a hime cut is almost universally flattering, as long as you cut it for the face that will be wearing it. - It can be worn with or without bangs, or with different syles of bangs - It can be cut so the short pieces sit further apart or closer together, which can either open up a face or narrow the shape of a wide face (if thats what you're going for) - The angle of the face-framing pieces can be changed to suit your cheekbones and jawline - If you look better with short hair, you can have the illusion of short hair without losing length in the back; and if you look better with long hair, then you can keep the length but still have a shape that creates interest
I cut my hair 2 days ago. I combined the butterfly and the wolf haircut. I started with the butterfly cut and after this I did the wolf cut. I have so many layers now 😂 but it looks pretty nice imo. Thanks Brad ❤
14:00 Yes! I wish I knew this when I was an adolescent, my mom would(and still does) call my hair her hair and wouldn’t let me do anything to it ESPECIALLY cut it(only ever got a haircut once do to a botched perm).
So much fun! I destroyed my hair a lot as a teenager in the 90s and early 2000. luckily there’s UA-cam now and I can follow good tutorials and not effed up my hair since 💪🏼
I had this hairstyle last year, but with some slight air bangs! I love the versatility of being able to wear the back in a bun and have hair that looks short in the front, and being able to tuck the front back to have hair that looks long all around. The downside is the short front sections don't work well at all for Edwardian poofy-in-the-front updos, and so I've been letting the sides grow longer.
I feel like the problem is not the haircut, but the hair itself. the hair should be straight, thick, heavy, silky smooth, and moisturized. Maybe they just need hair oil?
Hime cut has been my go-to cut since jr high. I’ve changed it up every now and then but I always end up going back every few months that my “new” hairstyle grows out. Lol
Hi Brad! You brighten my day 🎉 Have just done the 2nd butterfly cut on my friend & it came out FABULOUS!!! The first was OK but I didn't take quite enough off. This time it's perfect and she's SO happy!!!
The first girl, I’m pretty sure they are living in Korea right now based on how the bathroom looks and the girl mentioned “olive young” which is the Main like makeup/skin care place here, and i fully agree that she probably meant she has fine, and less thick than normal Asian hair (which is almost impossible to be as thick as them if you quite white, unless you got gooooooood genes)
I need to cut my self-lightened blonde mid-back length hair, but I’m 48, short with an average length neck with a chin fighting gravity, this isn’t the look for me. lol. Thanks for motivation to be SUPER careful to not end up being someone Brad would be disappointed with! Get some rest, Brad. Much Love 💖❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Love that you reacted to this style! Always adored it but always been to scared to do it, feel like I have a bowling ball shaped face and it would look weird on me haha I'll stick to my under cut and butterfly cut haha. Much love Brad🖤
I love the comment about cutting hair when you’re young & just doing whatever even if it ffff’s it up! When I was a teen I once took every doll I could find in the house & gave them all haircuts before doing my own & when I was in cosmetology school the instructor hated me cuz all I wanted to do was cut the hair on every single mannequin head. It was like an ocd thing. I had to cut every doll, Barbie or mannequin I could find.
10:40 I have a very significant difference in length between the front and the back, so I think that's why I don't have difficulty keeping the two sections separated.
The girl in the 1st vid is Lexi! She streams as TheCottageGamer! She's great if you generally like mostly cozy games! And our friend doing the cutting is Jimi/Zzimi!!
I had the hime hair cut for a while. I like it, it's cute but different. Gives you a nice frame for your face. The difficulty is to cut boths sides the exact lenghts otherwise it looks wonky. And always straighten it perfectly straight.
My super thin, super fine hair is crying for that first girl saying her hair is thin. My dark brown hair is so freaking fine that can use the tiniest of hair ties to put my hair in a pony tail. My pony tail looks like the size of tiny micro braid. I had to perm it to get volume :( Brad needs to ship his wave stuff to Canada 😢
This style looks like it needs a lot of shaping and point cutting through chunky layers. Takes the correct face shape for this style. Would love to see Brad do these cuts.

And its not just the hair type, it only suits very specific face shapes and proportions. Even for an asian like myself, it wouldn't suit me at all unless I try extra hard with my make-up.
It's a hairstyle for rounder faces
I feel like a hime cut is almost universally flattering, as long as you cut it for the face that will be wearing it.
- It can be worn with or without bangs, or with different syles of bangs
- It can be cut so the short pieces sit further apart or closer together, which can either open up a face or narrow the shape of a wide face (if thats what you're going for)
- The angle of the face-framing pieces can be changed to suit your cheekbones and jawline
- If you look better with short hair, you can have the illusion of short hair without losing length in the back; and if you look better with long hair, then you can keep the length but still have a shape that creates interest
Oh yeah and the dirty blonde works great with your skin tone and makes your eyes pop.
I cut my hair 2 days ago. I combined the butterfly and the wolf haircut. I started with the butterfly cut and after this I did the wolf cut. I have so many layers now 😂 but it looks pretty nice imo. Thanks Brad ❤
I've been receiving more compliments since getting my hime haircut in December than I have in my whole life it's really a top tier hairstyle
Yes! I’m here for this!
14:00 Yes! I wish I knew this when I was an adolescent, my mom would(and still does) call my hair her hair and wouldn’t let me do anything to it ESPECIALLY cut it(only ever got a haircut once do to a botched perm).
"we're gonna cut straight...oops"
lolll XD
you look so good with that hairstyle!!!
0:44 that was a perfect Australian accent on that “so”! Hard to do/know 👏🏼👏🏼
I love how we all watch Brad Mondo bc we all relate to having hair issues :)
Brads haircut is on point 🔥
As a person living in Japan and seeing this haircut everyday I’d love to see Brad try to do this cut with no instruction and see how it goes
Now I have to challenge you to make a hime wig (in black) and rock it in your next video with some All from Zoolander 2 vibes.
So much fun! I destroyed my hair a lot as a teenager in the 90s and early 2000. luckily there’s UA-cam now and I can follow good tutorials and not effed up my hair since 💪🏼
This is what i got in a salon once when i asked for layers 🤦
I'd literally sue.
They happened to my little sister too, she came home crying and I literally stormed back in demanding they fix it
Ah yes. I too have had an ikea shelf haircut installed involuntarily on my head. Sucks waiting for it to grow out. 😢
@@aishayassain8513 I cut my own hair for 7 years after that
that's so sad 😭😭 @@Level1Hera
I had this hairstyle last year, but with some slight air bangs! I love the versatility of being able to wear the back in a bun and have hair that looks short in the front, and being able to tuck the front back to have hair that looks long all around. The downside is the short front sections don't work well at all for Edwardian poofy-in-the-front updos, and so I've been letting the sides grow longer.
I feel like the problem is not the haircut, but the hair itself. the hair should be straight, thick, heavy, silky smooth, and moisturized. Maybe they just need hair oil?
It really is a cut that looks the best on asian people compared to others
Your expressions and commentary are always GOLD!! 😂
BRAD MAKE HIME HAIRCUT WIG. Seriously you would look good. Honestly you would. ❤
Hime cut has been my go-to cut since jr high. I’ve changed it up every now and then but I always end up going back every few months that my “new” hairstyle grows out. Lol
Not Brad trying to get us to look bad on our weddings 😭 I feel a new series coming up. Love your vids as always ❤
The amount of hair bravery these people have, I could never...
6:16 “It has been a lifetime, I am growing an actual beard.” Omg. I’m trying to not laugh out loud at 2am 😂😂
Hime cuts are soo cute im tempted get one 😭😻
the best hairstyle ive seen on u omg its so flattering
🎉 I have a hime haircut!! I'm literally in love but it needs a lot of styling to maintain 😂
( It also makes my face look more slim)
Well this is a new one on me.. Brad needs to do more videos on these alternative hair styles.
Excited to watch this! Your videos always make my day ❤❤
Brad in his Devon Sawa era and I love it.
I had to cut every doll, Barbie or mannequin I could find.
help brad feeling so proud of himself after googling what hime is 😭😭
the last girl looks STUNNING with that hair!
I paused mid video and impulsively cut my bangs lol (turned out awesome!!)
10:40 I have a very significant difference in length between the front and the back, so I think that's why I don't have difficulty keeping the two sections separated.
Literally means Princess haircut :)
I actually would love to have this haircut, but I never have patience to grow out my hair haha!
Johnny Depp - Willy wonka.... Edna 😂😂😂 Brad that slayed me😂
Finally a new trend that isn’t super weird. I actually like this.
Not… super weird? 🙈
@@M_K_M_K_M_K weird but more my style I guess 🙈
@@g-6- anything mullet inspired but I can’t deny that some people can really pull it off, so I’m only speaking on personal style of course.
finally Brad Mondo reacted to hime cuts, I've been waiting so long for him to react to this haircut 🥺
We have this Brad !! And than we have Tiktok Brad it's so bipolar 😂😂❤❤ love it !!
6:02 idk why people constantly hate on 80’s clothing 😭 I love big and bold
I had to perm it to get volume :(
Brad needs to ship his wave stuff to Canada 😢
Brad decided to film hairdresser reacts at the time people usually decide to cut their hair so he can truly immerse in the experience 🧡
I have a hime cut and I just renewed it a few days ago while watching brandon videos, and now he uploads this haha

I feel like less is more with this cut like the last one. It looked better with not so much hair . Love the video ❤
When you guessed princess and got it right I gagged😂 you are really so smart Brad
This style looks like it needs a lot of shaping and point cutting through chunky layers. Takes the correct face shape for this style. Would love to see Brad do these cuts.
I hope you have a blessed day, Brad. ❤
I let my kids do what they wanted to their hair cuz my momma let me be me and express myself as a teenager and I loved her for it!❤❤❤👌🏿🙌🏿
