Many years ago at a Civil War Reenactment an individual displayed a black powder version of the gatling gun in .577 500 grain Elongated Ball (Minié Ball). It was the coolest thing I have ever seen. The Ball and 60 grains of black powder were loaded on one side of the "cartridge" and a musket percussion cap was loaded on the nipple on the other side. The cartridges were loaded into a long feeding device, magazine and after being fired would fall out the bottom into a wicker basket so they could be taken back to the limber and reloaded. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of it... Man that thing would have been a game changer had they been available during the Civil War.... cheers

I knew the answer to the Gatling gun question. Because im a massive old west nerd. The ones you see portrayed most often at the .45-70 variants, for example thats whats used at the end of the magnificent 7. So generally when we think of a gatling gun it will be the .45-70.

I knew the answer to the Gatling gun question. Because im a massive old west nerd. The ones you see portrayed most often at the .45-70 variants, for example thats whats used at the end of the magnificent 7. So generally when we think of a gatling gun it will be the .45-70.
