I purchased the Alloy M, spooled it with 50 lb test braid and put it on a 7 foot MH Bass Pro Inshore rod. @@chepachii James, I now have 2 Alloy M and 3 Phantom reels. I ran into one minor issue with the Phantom. A small, light spacer built of fiberglass or carbon fiber cracked. Piscifun quickly replaced the entire cap and contents, at no charge under warranty. I haven’t had anything break on the Alloy M. One of the best bait casting reels I own. It's no slouch, and easily hangs with my Abu Garcia and Lew's reels. It performed so well on pink and silver salmon that I just grabbed a second on Amazon during a good sale! Piscifun makes some good, budget friendly products. I now own two Alloy M, two Alijoz, and am presently playing around with a fantastic Carbon XCS reel!
Looks like that Piscifun built a tough use reel. Having a metal frame and large handle provides more power and control over large fish in in heavy cover. Anglers often want a metal frame reel over a carbon frame for hard use. The spool is light and has more capacity for large diameter fluorocarbon line; I am guessing. The brake system likely is made for more control for light lures as well as heavy weight ones. The original Phantom had both magnetic and centrifugal brakes. I believe if Piscifun offered a low capacity spool option; this reel would make a good skipping reel too. Piscifun provided one for the first Phantoms I bought. I use them rather than the deep spools for casting small lures using small diameter 15# braid.

Man I SWEAR that is exactly the same Reel as an Ardent Summit Hawk but the Ardent is thrice the price lol. I like that Reel and Aluminum Frame for that price is unbelievable.
I've seen the guts of the Phantom. Better than reels 3 to 4x the price! This reel should be nothing less & will prolly be my next reel. (I've slung em all guys. Shimano's, Diawa's, Abu's, Quamtam you name it!) Gimme 3 or 4 of these ANY DAY over a stupid priced WHATEVER!
The Ardent Summit Hawk must be compared.!! Truly enjoy the channel my friend and DebosFishing has mentioned your channel several times and would really like a collaboration or a Saturday Night Live would be great.
Really love this reel. Feels solid and made to last for a fantastic price. Get it while you can. 🐟😀 It's not a BFS reel but people do all kinds of modifications so you never know. 👍 The casting video was great.
Can I do light jigging with this reel ? I mean I use 40 -50 gr jig and 0.14 - 0.16 mm braid line (110 m approximately). Is it possible? My target 4-6 kg fish maximum. ???
Hi, just bought this reel, but it seems like that spool ball bearing is bouncing around when I'm reeling the reel. Is that normal? I tried tighten the tension knob and looked at the spool. It doesn't make noise no more when I remove the spool. I'm not sure of anyone ran into this problem? Doesn't seem broken, just annoying when reeling and that metal noise clapping from the spool.
I've had this reel for a while so here are some of my thoughts on it. It can cast as far as my shimanos and lews reels but doesn't have the same amount of control at the later end of the cast with heavier lures, I have to basically keep it at 10 to stop mid-cast overruns. It is a bit geary (I have the highest gear ratio model) but definitely feels confident in hand with the aluminum frame. They HAVE to fix the clutch mechanism, if there is any kind of pressure on the end of the line then it seems to bind when you press the thumb bar down. It takes an obscene amount of thumb force to disengage the spool to get a lure off of the hook keeper once you have it pinned.
You are absolutley right, it is geary. I got mine August 2021. It has been used for 3 times then I feel I am using my coffee grinder. If you look on the box the capacity of line is flipped for braid and mono compared to what is printed on the bottom of the actual reel itself. Is this the same case for your reel?
He doesn’t know because he never takes a reel apart to see what is inside. This reel doesn’t need any upgrades. It has 4 bearings supporting the spool and the gear and pinion are both made of thick brass which is heavy duty gears with carbontex drag washers that are keyed which you only see in high dollar reels. This reel is a grand slam. I almost use mine more than my Curado
i just got this reel have not tested it yet, aluminum reel, 22lbs of drag and i bought mines form aliexpress for 69$ i also got the same gear ratio. Will u do some long term testing on ur reels, those are the ones we all look forward to. of course im lefty =D. If this reel goes well within 1yr of usage im gona get more. I agree with the reel even though it generic it holds alot of what customers want as a reel thats simplistic. I literally went out to cast something out in my driveway and its smooth upon first impression.
Try them gears under load. Not really mentioned here, but 22lbs of drag is not needed unless the gears can handle it. Almost wonder if you could swap for brass gears...
@@Tallnerdyguy idk im sure if you bug piscifun they will make a video out of it and whoever do a video can do a drag test for ya. 22lbs of drag is enough for alot of fish, even if its not 22lbs of drag it is enough. I dont think they will completely lie about that specs.
@@RyanSmith-fb8rf maingear, yes, pinion and bearing? And those teeth will slip at 22lbs, they are only 1/3 engaged. There is a reason shimano and daiwa spend so much money on engineering gears. You will likely get what you pay for. But under heavy use or big fish, it won't last long.
@@THEREELTEST The fact that this resembles a new ardent reel and that it has dual pinion bearing support plus a bearing on spool makes me fear this is another Haibo. Granted, the reel has been lowered to match the lower profile of doyo offerings, such as the max series; but, making the spool narrower but wider has made the frame to accommodate it heavier than Haibo steed etc. Now I have fixed my steed, I prefer it to my black max and revos (lower weight and narrower frame trumps slightly higher profile, for me). Caveat: I have never purchased a Haibo product that wasn't faulty, had to fix pinion gears, grind spool shafts that were wrong length -and the awful magtrax brakes they come with ...
Hi! Im your subscriber from Malaysia, please review and field test Kastking Calamus X2 because not a lot talks about this reel, hope you can test it, tq!!
One request for these types of reels with limited info. Please start removing the spool tension knob on camera so we can see if it has a double bearing supported pinion or not. It's obviously not necessary with name brands but with these Chinese makers there's quit a few starting to offer it without any real mention, most of the time you can only tell by looking at the cutaway renders on the site. Thanks
I'm commenting out of ignorance wanting to learn. What's an example reel that has this? Is there a term for it? I'd enjoy reading up on it. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
@@parkerrogers2277 Shimano calls it X-ship, Lews calls it P2 super pinion and Daiwa has it but their name for it escapes me. By and large it's just another design trend that's gaining traction in the industry. Personally I am not able to tell a difference in performance so I don't sweat it, buy what you like.
Are you sure about that? I know from experience with haibo reels that the ardent versions have much better spools and different gears from their aliexpress reels. The frame material could possibly be different, also. I'd agree Ardent prices are crazy, but I'd happily pay more for an ardent than an aliexpress haibo. I think $100-$120 would be a fair price for ardent.
@@piscamaniac absolutely sure, its the same reel with a different paint job and an aluminum handle instead of carbon, at most they may have added quality abec rated bearings but that doesn't come close to justifying over $100 price increase, also the ardent apex is the same reel as the haibo smart which is the same as the kingdom micro speed shot, ardent is doing nothing but contacting these oem makers and ordering reels already in their catalog and charging twice as much or more
@@mnjcosby The brakes are definitely different, only 8 magnets in the ardent. That tells me the spool is different. How do you explain the Ardent being half an ounce lighter than the piscifun? There are lots of components that can be different other than bearings - frame alloy, material used for gears, drive shaft etc. Haibo make great reels, but the aliexpress ones have cheaper components with magtrax brakes notoriously garbage out of the box.
@@piscamaniac that's not the point. I couldn't care less what slight material adjustments Ardent may have spec'd, as unlikely as that is, it's still not an original design. At least with Daiwa, Shimano, Abu, Quantum, and 13 I know that even they outsource products they go to great lengths to produce something unique to them. Ardent is clearly just another marketing company like sixgill trying to take customers for suckers with little to no effort. I'm also not saying the reels don't appear to be of good quality, they look pretty great but that's not what my issue is
I’m pretty sure your comparing this reels spool which is a 150 size to the Curado’s which is a 200? Why wouldn’t they put that wicked ported style spool from the phantom in it which is a 150 but a 36mm I believe? I had 3 phantoms and the deal is to use only minimal of one of the brake styles (mag or cent) and the majority of the other. When setup correctly I can skip the Phantom as good as an SLX DC which I have 3 of but the only issue with them is they require way more frequent lubing inside than do Shimanos to maintain smoothness but it’s a big toothed gear without pinion support (X ship) so deal with it. I’d try one for the fact that finding another aluminum smaller framed reel for under $80 is not happening.
I'd like to see your on the water test myself. I'd like a REAL unbiased review. Seems most Piscifun reviewers on UA-cam give glowing reviews no matter what the quality really is.
It only seems that way because the comoany makes very high quality products at very low prices and people appreciate that! I have been using Piscifun reels (Own 6 reels in 3 different models, gave away 9 other ones during Christmas) for the last 7 years now and I haven’t had a single problem with the reels that I own! I guess one of the reasons why we like to tell people about how good Piscifun reels are is because we know there are a lot of dishonest anti-Chinese racists out there that make false claims about the company’s products simply because they are made in China by a Chinese company! I have a friiend who is like that he shuns anything that is made in China even when it is a great product! I bought him a Piscifun reel and got him to use it a couple of times when he went fishing with me and later on he admitted to me it is one of the best reels he ever used! He wasn’t happy that it was sold so cheaply because he felt it would hurt the American companies that also made fishing reels, but how many American companies actually make their own reels in America anymore? Especially in the inexpensive models?
This reel blows the black max out of the water it has 4 stainless bearings supporting the spool, keyed carbontex drag washers big brass gears and pinion with 10 magnets for the breaking system. This is by far the best reel on the market for the price it’s built like a tank and casts further than my Curado K 200. Definitely worth the money and should be priced much higher for what you get
The priests trying to cast out the demons weren't pagans. They were Pharisees and Sadducees who were envious of the success of Paul, and thought merely using the name of Christ Jesus without the faith would work....clearly they were wrong. It is one of my favorite stories in the book of Acts, which our Church is named after. Oh man, you know I've been having a hard time making myself try new reels after I fell in love with the Tatula 100 and 200 series so much, primarily for the T wing system, but if it feels just like a Tatula I may have to give it a go so I can have a budget friendly reel to recommend to people.
Piscifun make decent looking reels, but you often get what you pay for. $70 reel going to perform like a $70 reel. Others are comparing to $150+ reels. I wonder if the gears can tolerate 22lbs of drag
@@THEREELTEST The $40 Shimano Bass Rise did also outcast premium reels in your Olympics. However Shimano advertised 5 kg max drag (11 lb). OP's question is still valid though, would this reel tolerate the 22 lbs of drag as advertised?
Save money and buy a better quality product. These might last 2 years, then you buy another then another. Save up, buy a $200 reel (even decent used one) and it will last you at least a decade.
@@edgarburciaga4052 don't fall into the "budget" trap. Save an extra paycheck or 2 and buy a workhorse reel. Curado k or Curado 70 will last you 15 years and about 180-210 depending on sales. You haven't been slumin' it for long enough, piscifun did a haibo steed with deep spool called saex elite, then Haibo smart rebadged as saex premier, both alu frame. You may need more mag power with this one bro, remember: steed brakes were garbage with 11 magnets fitted? 12 magnets is ridiculous, I mean, black max has very strong braking with just 5 magnets. I tried the steed magnets in black max and they work almost as good as stock ones. I think the problem is garbage aluminum alloy used for spools. Btw, I really fixed the Haibo steed, works real good even from lowest mag dial setting, cost me less than 2 dollars, I'll have to do a vidya. Now my steed is phenominal.

@Brunnen_Gee, you can count out 99% of the negative comments about the reels from Piscifun because of the racist anti-China sentiments in the US and the west in general. Just buy one and check it out for yourself and see why people like me rave about the reels from Piscifun! If you don’t like it don’t buy another reel from the company again, that’s all! And I still have the original two Piscifun reels that I bought 7 years ago and they both work fine without any maintainance from me whatsoever beside making sure I don’t lay them on sandy soil! Frankly, I find all of the negative comments laughable because they all sound so made-up since I haven’t experiencing any of the problems that these negative naysayers are saying! Not one! Just some anti-China haters that’s all they are! I bet if you hand them a Penn reel and replace the Penn logo with a Piscifun logo they would say nasty things about it! Man I SWEAR that is exactly the same Reel as an Ardent Summit Hawk but the Ardent is thrice the price lol. I like that Reel and Aluminum Frame for that price is unbelievable.
Hello. Tell me, from which weights is it comfortable to throw?
I've seen the guts of the Phantom. Better than reels 3 to 4x the price! This reel should be nothing less & will prolly be my next reel. (I've slung em all guys. Shimano's, Diawa's, Abu's, Quamtam you name it!) Gimme 3 or 4 of these ANY DAY over a stupid priced WHATEVER!
I don't know how you could throw a Daiwa with a T wing and then go back to anything else man.
@@TimHaunFishing shimano micro module gears is how.
I would take one $250 reel that lasts 15 years over 15 of these over the same period of time.
The Ardent Summit Hawk must be compared.!! Truly enjoy the channel my friend and DebosFishing has mentioned your channel several times and would really like a collaboration or a Saturday Night Live would be great.
Hi, compare to fishband CR07 long shot, which is better? I'm planning to buy either 1 of these reel
Yes! I have the Alijoz and two of Piscifun’s spinning models and you could jig with all of them.
Would love a casting review
Hi, just bought this reel, but it seems like that spool ball bearing is bouncing around when I'm reeling the reel. Is that normal? I tried tighten the tension knob and looked at the spool. It doesn't make noise no more when I remove the spool. I'm not sure of anyone ran into this problem? Doesn't seem broken, just annoying when reeling and that metal noise clapping from the spool.
Just ordered this with their current 15% coupon. Plus no tax and free shipping. A no brainer to order from them over amazon.
Free shipping and no taxes? That alone is like 45% discount there! You ordered directly from the company’s website? I’m tired of Amazon, tbh!
That's the case with all baitcasters.
All baitcaster do that lol
You are absolutley right, it is geary. I got mine August 2021. It has been used for 3 times then I feel I am using my coffee grinder. For a comparison, the Tatula 150 came almost at the same time and I used it every outing, I'd like to say over 50 trips. My Tatula is still working as smoothly as the first day. I will pass these gimmicks in the future with no doubt. I saw some UA-camrs were using Kastking, the same things happen there. Horrible geary noise can be heard even through the microphone.
I would use that for heavy cove with the combination of the aluminum frame and the long handle
I use this for my pitching and punching reel and it’s phenomenal with an awesome drag
@@RyanSmith-fb8rf is it okay for frogs too?
I am curious to know how this reel compare against Kastking Bassinator or the Speed Demon Elite
Any idea what size spool bearings on this?
If you look on the box the capacity of line is flipped for braid and mono compared to what is printed on the bottom of the actual reel itself. Is this the same case for your reel?
Do you know if the handle has a 8x5 or 7x4 opening on the handle? I want to change to a shorter handle.
It is a 8x5, same as Daiwa.
@@techd9861 thanks 🙂
I have one and its one heck of a reel for the money.
Do they build one for RIGHT HANDERS?
Do you realize the reel in the video is a right handed reel
Would you do a comparison between the Alloy M and the Crixus ArmorX seeing how they both cost the same please. Thanks!
John 14:6
recommendations for any upgrades ?
@@Tallnerdyguy it has brass gears in it.
@@CrunkyOMan83 22lbs is way more than enough. I catch 25lb catfish with my 11lb drag. Got to have skill involved, can't just muscle them in.
It looks like a combination between Abu Garcia ProMax and Revo ALX, and the drag star looks very similar with Abu Garcia's.
Not surprising because I think this reel is Doyo made
THE REEL TEST : well, I should try it to fight with big mama giant snakehead once available in my country. Thanks
Thanks
That's actually a really smart observation and idea.
Exactly. Take the reels apart and show the gears, bearings, pinion and drag stack. This is useless
@@MrDjones55 Oh wow. Thanks!
Ardent is using this same exact reel as their Summit Hawk but with an alloy handle for over $200! They've lost their minds!
@@piscamaniac absolutely sure, its the same reel with a different paint job and an aluminum handle instead of carbon, at most they may have added quality abec rated bearings but that doesn't come close to justifying over $100 price increase, also the ardent apex is the same reel as the haibo smart which is the same as the kingdom micro speed shot, ardent is doing nothing but contacting these oem makers and ordering reels already in their catalog and charging twice as much or more
@@piscamaniac and holy shit ardent is also selling the piscifun phantom x as their C-force reel, they have no shame
How would you compare this to the Black Max and the budget JDM reels you've reviewed? You should do a budget shootout and a budget playlist.
Definitely worth the money and should be priced much higher for what you get
But the Curado K have centrifugal brakes.
I'm have Banex Ionic the bait casting reel. Gear Ratio 8.1, Sir.
$70 reel is different when we take away middle man mark ups….compare materials not brand names 👊
Their $70 Phantom will outcast reels 3 to 4 times its price.
@@THEREELTEST The $40 Shimano Bass Rise did also outcast premium reels in your Olympics. However Shimano advertised 5 kg max drag (11 lb). OP's question is still valid though, would this reel tolerate the 22 lbs of drag as advertised?
Piscifun’s customer service is also second to none. I keep adding Phantoms to my “go to” rods and love showing them off when people ask what they are.

It might not be the best reel you have ever owned in your life but it could be the best budget reel you have used in your life! Isn’t that good enough? I have 3 models of Piscifun’s reels and 6 all together and they are all the best reels for the money that I have ever bought and used!
This is just part of the anti-China propaganda that is sweeping over the country, that’s all!

I’ll skip the pissyfun and get a real flagship reel. It will last longer in the long run… unless it has micromodule gears. I hate those
Agree Daiwa reels seldom break... whereas the durability of Piscifun is unknown, at least to me. That said, Piscifun builds reels that are of better materials than the Abu-Garcia (Revo Toro) reels I used before upgrading to Daiwa Lexa reels. Comparing the Piscifun Alijos reels to my Lexa 300’s, both are very solid, in fact I suspect the Alijos is superior overall, though I have yet to use my Alijos reels.
