I bought an IC-756 Pro iii a few months ago at a local hamfest. It is in mint condition! Don't have an antenna for it yet, but reading the manual, and powering it up (not transmitting) and it appears to be in perfect condition! Glad to see someone still using one of these!!!
Bought mine from a pal 10 years ago, I ve never had a problem with it , it,s still mint condx with no problems, a few of my ham pals have wanted it ? but no sale !! this one stays right here with me !! 73,s M0TJP,...
How did you put the spectrum scope on the top and the multi function meter on the bottom, mine is just the vfo on top and I think the way you have it looks better Thanks
Hi Ben press and hold the Meter button for 1 second this toggles the Multi function digital meter on and off. It’s in page 31 in the user manual under Meter Function section
Should there be a red illumination on the power button, the seven soft keys left of the screen, and the 0-9 numeric buttons? I just bought a nice Pro2 model and they don't light.
I used to listen to Shortwave radio and HAM chatter on my Pro3. I kept it in storage for a while and recently powered it up. I can barely get anything on it but loud static, I cant explain it. With my 30 meter wire the lower AM band was alive with station near and far in the evenings, now there is nothing except for some local stations. Something must have malfunctioned.
@@morayr6 I am in Tasmania, yes, always very busy picking up mainland stations from all over the place. The interference I hear is really loud as well. I was hoping for a factory reset, or something that might fix the reception issue but no. Will have to send it away for repairs I think.
Yes sounds like it can’t be serious if worked before in storage sounds like a component has failed. I know it’s obvious but have you connected to correct antenna socket and switched in accordingly sometimes the obvious gets over looked
@@morayr6 So true, sometimes the most obvious is overlooked, I tried both antenna sockets and switched between them, no joy. I will keep trying for a bit longer.
Contests are just one of many flavors of Ham Radio. They are kind of cool, in that you can work lots of DX in a very short period of time. Sometimes it's better not to be able to have a long winded, usually predictable and stupid conversation!

This is my all time favourite radio. What an absolute stunning 100% example of how nice the pro III is. Keep up the good work Moray!
Such a great, well engineered radio! One of the best of all time, which still works very well in a modern set up!
Thanks hope it continues that way
