@@ramjet4025 hi there I am actually using the original Nicad battery the plastic ones a bit heavier I hiked 10km with the kit. I have a lithium battery to fit to an empty metal case just haven’t got round to it yet but will very soon

@@morayr6 I used to be into the 27mhz side of dx’ing many moons ago, always wanted to get my ham licence and just so happens that a neighbour that I recently met is an ex Royal engineer radio boffin so hopefully he will take me under his wing and show me the way!! All the best mate👍👍

@@Radiogenes well I’m used to carrying that weight and more so not to bad the frame is actually pretty comfortable on the back

@@Radiogenes you mean the rucksack if so i have one when i owned the PRC-138 the straps are crap the bag interior is ok but thats where it stops. Carrying the 320 in the frame is easiest for access as long as you are not bothred about the radio getting wet if it rains

It does low power 2-3 watts high power about 25 watts

Yes, unless your fit to service them or know (with proof) radio is serviced & stable on tx Id avoid. Failures are beyond the boring & outdated advice on forums of change the caps in psu & synth. A Lot more is failing now in them. Ive serviced/modded more than a few. A nos unissued one wont last either without intervention. Just saying. 73

Both are in top condition. The audio is so neat! Nice bass to it. I can’t wait for my 320’s synth to fail to do this dds mod 😂 Take care buddy

@@Radiogenes it’s the amplified audio board in the Racal Psu that makes it sound good it’s only 1 watt as well

Normally an Inductor as well but does not seem to be needed on 20 meters and above
