Been listening to these guys since I heard my only swerving on a play list on pandora back in the day. Every single song the have made is a masterpiece. They are criminally underrated and under appreciated. The talent is unreal. Seeing them play live is as good or better than the recorded albums
kristian makes such a landscape from the carvin guitar. i am in love with his stuff... between their three albums everything they have sounds so righteous. can't wait for their next album!
Three Things: 1. El Ten Eleven is a complete masterpiece! 2. They sound like a less introspective version of Tycho 3. Kevin Suggs is confirmed best engineer.
saw them about 10 years ago at a tiny show outside of a museum in downtown San Diego, maybe about 50 people in the crowd. still one of the most amazing shows ive seen.
I get people not digging a song because it's not their style of music but you just have to appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that go into all of El Ten Eleven's songs. They're just impressive.
@MrBRREEETTTT, if you read through the comments, you'll discover that we were NOT the ones blasting all Americans. It was @pnkflyd83 who was doing that. We were trying to say that it is ridiculous to call all Americans (or any entire country, for that matter) stupid. But I do agree that people should quite with that cliche. You are making our point for us!
Caught these cats last night @ the PARTISAN in Merced and got my whole mood adjusted for the better... FRESH AIR!!!! Dope Sound! Had to cop the VINYL....
@kexpradio when you're referring to the commercial or popular music industry, then that's mostly true, but i think indie music is getting so much more popular. thanks to kexp's song of the day podcast i've been introduced to so many great bands
@emoboi86 I think on the opening bass line he's tapping the Whammy up an octave on every other note. Also, for the harmonics, I think it's an octave up in D-A-D-G-C-E tuning.
Don't care about radio...don't care about Corporations...don't care about DJs in blue shirts...don't care about Nationalities...don't care about 'points of view'...6:44 of ponder & awe? - to care is an understatement.
@emoboi86 He has two Whammy pedals, and one of them is a combination between Whammy and Wah. You can hear the combination of both pedals in My Only Swerving with the second track being overdubbed.
i've used a boss loop pedal and it "quantizes" the beat so any mistake is corrected as long as it's an issue with timing. if you fuck up the recording, well, you play another verse or whatever and loop that. its not hard at all to use one and quite fun.
Outstanding! re: paniconda - check out Volta do Mar too. They explore less sampling wizardry, but the combination of basses and frenetic guitar is beautiful.
@pnkflyd83, um... aren't these guys American? How can they be "real musicians" if Americans "don't understand the concept of real musicians." You're blowing my mind with your sweeping generalizations!
I think this guy should get rid of all those loopers and just get the Boomerang III looping system so much easier to handle for the amount of live looping he is doing.
@pnkflyd83 it really is ridiculous to generalize Americans. Im sure many listen to crap like lady gaga and thats fine but its rude to make a generalization like that. Mainstream music is everywhere. instead of criticizing Americans how about complementing anyone who watches the video and enjoys it because i agree this is real musical genius.
Yeah, it's surprising how many drummers have issues with keeping in time with loops. It's all about following the loop and not whatever tempo you think you might be in
... the song reminds me Pacific Northwest there was a surfing Club I can't remember the name at the moment.. something about sex waxing gunpowder and the salty Ocean Breeze
It's 2019 and this band is still incredible.
The only other song I'd heard from them was "My Only Swerving"
Then hearing this secured me as a fan.
Nothing but talent here.

These two dudes have more talent in their pinky toes than the entire pop music industry combined.
I refuse to admit I ever had a guitar playing career before watching this masterpiece.
listen to these guys every week since I discovered them many years ago!
Tampa was glorious! The crowd really got into it, and then they did...unbelievable!
kristian makes such a landscape from the carvin guitar. i am in love with his stuff... between their three albums everything they have sounds so righteous. can't wait for their next album!
The way this makes me feel 😌 Definitely music for the soul 😊
At 0:52 all i can bring myself to think of is longboarding in the snow. So perfect.
These guys are so cool to watch live, and explosions in the sky is to. There both SOOOO good!
Are you fucking kidding me!? Holy shit these guys are so creative!
Three Things:
1. El Ten Eleven is a complete masterpiece!

Watching videos of them playing live is fascinating.
They sound so crisp, and wholesome. I love these guys!

So talented! Love these dudes!
Now this band I'll go watch live! Badass!!!
love the part at the end with him switching the 2 tracks, awesome!
This is crazy good! people not liking this can suck it coz they'll be good at it!
I get people not digging a song because it's not their style of music but you just have to appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that go into all of El Ten Eleven's songs. They're just impressive.
I love these guys
I forget just how damn good these two really are

Man oh man, Pure talent.

@iaa9080, that's KEXP DJ Kevin Cole.
@kexpradio when you're referring to the commercial or popular music industry, then that's mostly true, but i think indie music is getting so much more popular. thanks to kexp's song of the day podcast i've been introduced to so many great bands

I would love to play for KEXP.
This is just insane
@emoboi86 I think on the opening bass line he's tapping the Whammy up an octave on every other note. Also, for the harmonics, I think it's an octave up in D-A-D-G-C-E tuning.
Q: Is that a bass or a guitar?
A: Exactly.
Don't care about radio...don't care about Corporations...don't care about DJs in blue shirts...don't care about Nationalities...don't care about 'points of view'...6:44 of ponder & awe? - to care is an understatement.
so good
truely the epitome of "Musical Genius"
@emoboi86 He has two Whammy pedals, and one of them is a combination between Whammy and Wah. You can hear the combination of both pedals in My Only Swerving with the second track being overdubbed.

love the guitar at 0:53 and the fast drums at 2:02
Yes!!!!!!
Outstanding! re: paniconda - check out Volta do Mar too. They explore less sampling wizardry, but the combination of basses and frenetic guitar is beautiful.
Now these are musicians
.
met these guys, theyre obviously cool dudes
lost it when he just started playing the pedals, too good
this is badass
man, I need a looper BAD. this makes me want to PLAY.
Who's going to see them playing in DC?!
The loop MASTER
THIS BAND KICKS SO MUCH AZZ VOTE UP IF U THINK SO
these guys are fucking awesome! so mad i just missed the jacksonville show =( wont make that mistake again!
Who are the 23 people who gave this video a thumbs down? I don't really see the point.
thats CRAZY
muito legal (cool)!!!
@pnkflyd83, um... aren't these guys American? How can they be "real musicians" if Americans "don't understand the concept of real musicians." You're blowing my mind with your sweeping generalizations!
2 people missed the thumbs up lol. Excellent band!
This new one is Radder then hell
I think this guy should get rid of all those loopers and just get the Boomerang III looping system so much easier to handle for the amount of live looping he is doing.
I didn't know they had Matt Berninger from The National as their drummer!
@pnkflyd83 it really is ridiculous to generalize Americans. Im sure many listen to crap like lady gaga and thats fine but its rude to make a generalization like that. Mainstream music is everywhere. instead of criticizing Americans how about complementing anyone who watches the video and enjoys it because i agree this is real musical genius.
where did u get the cool clap bar thingy my band needs one asap!!!!
he sort of reminds me of Michel Gondry. Maybe its the hair. But because of that, anyone that looks like this is a genius!
@WhereMightWaldoB
i think it's unreleased... or at least not on an album.
@kexpradio yea i know...i am replying to the thread. guess i should have specified.
what bass effect he usin at beginning where he steppin on it ever kick?
Yeah, it's surprising how many drummers have issues with keeping in time with loops. It's all about following the loop and not whatever tempo you think you might be in
I should be studying right now....
that pedalboard. omg!
I think I need a loop pedal!
Where is 720p? :(
wait, his bass/guitar has one output, so what kind of amp(s) does it go through?
@iaa9080 kinda like the guy from Offspring who just says "Whoa" every now and then?
fuckin amazing!
@cred45543 oo i feel ya...im also a huge explosions fan so im thumbing up that comment ha
NICE PERFECT ;)
totally tubular!
It is soooo hard to be able to line up loops smoothly with a drummer. These 2 have spent a Lot of time at this
hulk on guitar/bass
thor on drums
did that just really happen
@cred45543 dude you are the only one who thumbed down this video... just tell me...why?
I've always wondered what they do if he messes up...I mean, any tiny mistake will be kept on the loop and keep playing...
... the song reminds me Pacific Northwest there was a surfing Club I can't remember the name at the moment.. something about sex waxing gunpowder and the salty Ocean Breeze
V NECK POWER!!!!!
Sometimes, crappy old instruments make better noise than a good one ever could.
