Finally the first reviewer that has said the 1.0 95 is all you need.
We were pondering which engine to get but opted for the 1.0 95 5 speed in SE trim.
The first 1,000 miles while it was running in the engine was a bit lumpy below 2,000rpm but now everything is freed up I can honestly say why you would ever need more than 95bhp in a Kamiq, it pulls great, the 5 gears are spaced perfectly for the torque and power band and the suspension is not suited for the car to be hooned around.
We got a great deal on our car at £16,867 (had to wait 6 months) but I often have a smug look on my face at other Kamiq owners who have thrown money at their Kamiq when it's really not required.

I suppose it depends what performance you're used to! For myself and many others I prefer being able to overtake quickly which is safer, if you're happy to lag behind a slow moving vehicle in front of you when there are few chances to overtake fine but many including myself don't. Your car 0 to 60 takes a leisurely 10.7 seconds bhp 94 and torque only 129 lbs. The 1.5 TSI takes 7.7 seconds with bhp156 and torque 184lbs. For the small amount of extra money, I'd have at the very least gone for the 1.0 litre 108bhp.

My 1985 Honda Civic had an under-seat storage tray as standard, my parents' 1990-something Volvo had a parking ticket clip in the windscreen, so neither of those features on this car is particularly "clever". Why can't the heated windscreen be ordered on its own instead of only with the £700 climate pack? Ford fit them as standard to almost all of their cars, and it is a vital safety feature in autumn/winter for UK cars

Great review! I've had my Monte Carlo for a couple of months now, and I can vouch for the strength of the mid-range 1.0 115 engine. It's strong, smooth and *incredibly* quiet... This trim comes with the digital dials/display as standard, but I do wish that I'd added the variable boot floor, winter pack and a reversing camera - just as this review suggests. They'd have just completed the package. 👌🏼

Just over a year owning a 1.5 SEL DSG. I like everything about it except the seats. Too low as he mentioned and not particularly comfortable. The centre bulkhead digs into my left leg most of the time. And I really miss the variflex rear seats that my Yeti had. The Yeti was a lot more “clever” in its use of space in a car with similar overall dimensions to the Kamiq. I’ll be getting a Karoq next time

You state that the boot size at 400 litres is the largest in the class bar the rather ugly Puma. Wrong. The Nissan Juke has 422 litres. Indeed I've noticed that despite giving the new Juke a good review, What Car (and all the other car magazine reviewers) remains biased in favour of German cars (and their derivatives like this Skoda) no matter what. You push the rivals to this as being the Puma and the T-Roc only mentioning the Juke at the start of the review then conveniently ignoring it thereafter. So you can also conclude by saying that the Skoda has the nicest interior, again ignoring the fact that the Juke's interior is much more premium. I have no links to Nissan, but it remains a British car designed and built in Britain which like many others is pushed aside by the German brigade at every opportunity in your reviews. This Skoda isn't even new and you seem to justify reviewing it again (it's not a new model after all) just because the infotainment system has had a mild upgrade - something which ought to be a downloadable option on the previous models but probably isn't. What a weird specification on test. Awful (optional) alloys, manual gearbox, manual air conditioning and top spec Columbus Infotainment.
In Australia, our base 85TSI Kamiq comes standard with active cockpit, electric tail gate, DSG, auto climate control, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, mid-tear infotainment and 18" alloys for the equivalent of 15,000 ($28,000) including taxes. The UK clearly got screwed. I love my top-spec Monte Carlo, I would recommend it to anyone. But I can understand how people wouldn't find the Kamiq visually appealing when specified like this.

Columbus is not available for Kamiq. 6,5 inch = Swing, 8 inch = Bolero and 9,2 inch = Amundsen .

Strange, the Australian Skoda website states that the entry level Kamiq comes in at A$38,000 and doesn't have the Columbus infortainment system! Maybe the price has gone up $10,000 since you posted it last year 🤔

"UK got screwed" nothing new there. Unfortunately UK buyers keep buying so they continue to be exploited.
