Such a fabulous, funny and, most importantly, insightful review. You've convinced me and taken a big burden off my back after comparing about eight cars and spreadsheeting all their pros and cons to compare over the last week or so. Skoda Kamiq Auto it is - thanks heaps for helping this first time brand new car buyer choose which small SUV suits our needs best. You need a medal just for your ingenious and entertaining rundown. Can't wait to order ours now.
You have just sold me this car, test drove it last week, such an impressive car now I'm waiting for the car delivery in a week. Mine got panoramic sunroof and was thrown with a 3 year free car service. For just over 30 K. Such value for money.
Richard I'm also in the "Skoda Club". I bought a Superb 206 4WD wagon in 2017 & could not be happier! I bypassed the VW equivalent because the Skoda was soooo much better, in almost every aspect! The brand is no longer the bridesmaid. These do look impressive & if I did decide to "down grade" one of these would be on my list. But hey, the Superb wagon is a capacious beast!😈🏎😎 Good review yet again👍🏻
Hi Great review thanks. Just wondering, as a suggestion for other reviews if you would consider adding in: 1. More info on seat comfort 2. What the headlights are like at night. Thanks for the awesome production and humor in the review!
Brilliant review, Brilliant car....So I bought one!.....After over 60 years of many cars and many miles this is on a par with the best I have ever owned! PS. My first new car cost £365 with a sun roof!
You convinced me and we bought a race blue Signature. At the time of writing (Aug 22) we were a little disappointed that the price has risen since this video came out and it’s missing rear x traffic alert and lane assist but it still stacks up to its competitors. Pick it up in Oct and can’t wait.
My mum was in a pretty bad accident last Monday and is still in hospital..will be for weeks. They had to cut her out of her car so it's a write off. When she is ready to get behind the wheel again (physically and mentally) I want her to get something safe and this is looking pretty good. She was in a Honda Civic (2008) and I dread to think of what might of happened if she was in anything smaller. I have a Volvo but I don't think she'd be willing to spend that much so thinking this would still be a step up from the civic and hopefully something that would keep her safe if somebody hit her again.
Great little SUV. Slightly wider than the VW T-Cross, and 5 inches longer than the Seat Arona, to which the Kamiq is strongly related. The 3 cylinder 110 bhp is a brilliant engine. Way better than the Ford 3 cylinder 1.0 litre Ecoboost. Smoother, quieter and better on fuel than the Ford.....
Great car, but for 3k more you can have Karoq, which is only a bit bigger, but much more practical, especially that it has the option of removable rear seats.
Paint me like your French girls seriously funny stuff Richard. 😀. Great video once again. No longer are you a standard of measurement. You are the standard.
Hi Richard, you got 6.2L fuel consumption over the few days. Was that leaving the transmission in sport? And if so, would you expect to get better fuel consumption in normal?
Hey, i got 16k km on my 1,5t manual...I havent found any difference on normal/sports mode and i drive 170km/day to and from work...=56km on hwy , 20town rest is village.... i drive usually sporty (used to audi 2,5l and 1,8T) and my 5k km average is @6,7...normal driver would get like 5,7....in town max 7... So like 0,3 difference...I dont use Stop/start thing..always turn it off... on highways the sportmode is good..but i dont see a big difference goin 0-100...but i like stiffer handling and in curves the car is more stable... i m renting it for 4 years but i would prob buy on to my gf or parents...for me its just a company car i use to get to work...instead of our Audis or Xedos 9 lol...
Why don’t they talk about parts back up in Australia as part of the review. What is the wait time for panels etc in the event of a crash. What about the price of parts generally. These are also important to consider, particularly, with the fairly low volume of Skoda vehicles sold in Australia.
Loved the video good stuff. Not sure if this is worth the money but test driving will help obviously. Would have been good to go over quickly the options and pricing related to those options
I would have loved to hear more about safety, especially airbags in base model, in top variant. But a funny review. Waiting for this car's India launch
Num of airb. are same as in base model or montecarlo..i think emerg braking shuts off if you put it in sports mode...I was kinda freaked out when the car started breakin almost without any warning noise just cuz the car in front of me like wayyyy far (150m) slowed down (touched the breaks lightly) and it kinda scared me lol...same if you go over 40km/h and you go by parked car or it looks like you drive into parked cars just the way you have to move in between it stard panicing on you and so you can play with this in settings but still..but on the other side it saved me once from an accident allready..cuz minivan in front of me got into an accident (other car was goin tru intersection on red light..) i didnt see over him and once he T-boned him and it stopped him...right away the car stopped too..i dont think i would be so quick... :) Safety is on Kamiq 10/10...u even get a knee airbaig..
I'm struggling to find the difference between this and the Fabia . Same engine, Near identical kW/t, Tare weight, looks near identical and the same price... I must be missing something here that's obvious to everyone else... Is the Kamiq the Fabia replacement?
It's slightly larger so all the idiots who want to buy an SUV for the sake of it can now buy the kamiq.(even though it's really just a large hatch). With that being said this is really good value for money

So do I still go with the seltos to should I buy this. This has rear vents which seltos doesn't have 2wd model. Very confusing. Pls help
It's a good looking car and the price you get in Down Under is better than in its home country. And so is the 5 year '"unlimited" warranty(read the agreement v. carefully) When it comes to 1.0 L turbo charged engines, it's a different story. These are known for their unreliabilty and the same applies to DSG gearboxes. If you plan to keep the car longer than its warranty period, think twice as the repairs are costly.

Seltos has about 30L more space, I believe. Skoda wins for features, cabin design and price, Seltos for warranty/ aftercare. The biggest clear difference is design.. Seltos wins hands down and is exciting, this looks very suburban and dull. For me, it’s head (Skoda) v heart (Seltos). Good luck!
Karoq is the car I chose over the Seltos even though I preferred awd after my Subaru Outback. I chose it because of the classier European feel and look, plus I hated the wheels and the rear end of the Seltos. I felt that the Seltos design will age and seeing them on the road they're looking old already. I got the premium and tech pack, sunroof and side steps in silver. I've had it 5 months now and can't fault the car, it looks beautiful and is really nippy. This Kamiq is a beauty if you want a smaller size.
Skoda karoq comes in automatic. You can check that out. To be honest this car has a smaller engine hence cheaper. Karoq sea to be abetter option. No doubt this car is bang for th buck but I feel it's more of a hyundai venue kind of car
This review should mention that this car requires 98 RON Premium unleaded. The fuel economy whilst impressive, is somewhat less impressive when it's 20c+ a litre more expensive and not available at every services station (I haven't read the manual but typically 95 RON can be used in a pinch but still annoying). Rivals like the CX-3, Susuki Vitara, and 'Pick your' Toyota Hybrid don't have this requirement and the Toyota Hybrids do better economy even with 91/E10 (although are more expensive base price).
