I personally think the elven "Gods" first brought about the blight in there wars. And it was sealed away in the golden city with the "Gods" by Solas aka the Dred Wolf. Then it was let loose after the Arcons broke into the golden city. This is supported by Coryphaeus's statement that it was already tainted when they got there.
According to Elvan stories Andruil went hunting in the beyond and forged herself armour from it, she returned angry and violent with strange veins over her armour and was described as tainted. Mythal turned into a serpent (Implied dragon) to fight her, and eventually rendered her unconscious took her armour to destroy it and took her knowledge of how to enter the beyond. It's possible when Solas trapped the Evanuris they were trapped with remnants of Andruils armour and tainted by it, or Andruil didn't fully recover and still carried some form of the blight. I personally love this theory as the deeper lore backs it up so well.
