Good review. I like how you talk about how this Corvette accomplishes it’s mission. Big V8, lots of power, and fun to drive. If you are looking for that, no better car in this price point.
I love the smile this kid gives off when he's accelerating on the Z. I only have an 05 C6, it's modded,, but not anywhere close to Z power levels (450 flywheel), but it makes me smile the same way. Great video and sweet Z, flawless car IMO

+SnejaTheKing Actually, it doesn't have much plastic in it at all. But what little it does have really stands out. Comparative to the same year Viper, the Z looks like pure luxury. Same with the 60k GT500...full of plastics...chrome plastics. The center stack is a good bit dated though. The seats aren't bad...just lack competition-inspired bolstering. I absolutely loved my 09 LS3 Z51 with few complaints after driving it for 60k miles. Very comfy and ergonomic car that would rip your face off when you hit the pedal. I just think the interior lacked creative styling. Materials were good though.

I'm not a big Mustang guy (although I love Fox bodies..and have owned a few), but is the first Mustang I would seriously consider owning. A bit heavy, but great car all the way around. The car feels so much better with than the older one. Those who disagree are the ones who haven't driven one.

you should re-review this in the modern age, especially after you've driven 100's of cars. I'm not a journalest but this thing ROCKS as far as I'm concerned, to this day. You want feeling from the rack, you got it. you want power on demand? you got it. Yeah, it's no bently but this is a hell of a drivers car for under $50k.
I have a lot of cool and much more expensive toys, but honestly my black C6 Z06 is still possibly my favorite to just rip around in... IMO it could be one of the best Vettes ever on many fronts!
The C6 ZO6 is the best Corvette GM ever made. I don't like GM, but there's no denying the amount of power this car has and how compact the engine is for this kind of displacement. Every other Corvette is either too showy, overrated or old man cialis-like. But this car is actually not so much of a joke. It's just the right amount of too much.
Ken R They're fast, easy to work on and cheep but that's about it. WRX's are a little cheap too. The diffs are tiny but both are easy to work on at least.
This will be my car by next year! For the price and performance, it cannot be beat. Plus insurance premiums on the Z06 are only $30 more per month than my Kia Forte. Haha. I guess nobody my age of 31 purchases these cars which keeps the premiums down. Hey you youngsters...stick with your STI's and Evo's so it keeps the price of the Z06 down! At least till next year so I can get mine.

Well unfortunately, yes. But to me the C7, though different, just doesn't have the looks of the C6 and older gens. Its a bit of a controversial design and I'm sure it's an amazing car in every right, but my opinion is the looks just don't cut it for me. That's why I'd rather a C6. St the end of the day, the vette was and still is a proper old school drivers car, unlike most of it's competiton, which is all about track numbers and sheer computer prowess.

Watch the video of the 7 speed manual I was rowing through to check it out at this years Detroit Auto Show. If after all that I don't fancy it as much as the C6, I must be talking from an authentic point of my personal view. I like the 98 corvette, and reading comments. Surprising people don't like the wheels. Same wheels I have on the 98 corvette and it's one of the best part of it. Good review, even on the shorter side. Another great video though. I notice ours is well planted on turns and it's fun even though the corvette is an automatic but the brz i have is a manual.
GM patented a lot of ground breaking technology that European manufactures are using today.. Everyone wants to hate on the corvette, but I'm pretty sure it's beating much more sophisticated "high tech" cars whilst still using leaf springs. At half the price and still costing thousands less in insurance and maintenance costs as well. Does anyone have a solid argument against that? I'm a corvette owner btw..

You can see in the video how close that shifter is to the driver. It seems as if you are leaning to the left to grab the shifter when changing gears. Not a Corvette fan myself but good job reviewing as usual.

+Michael Markham I've seen as high as upper 440s.. But yes, a good tune, exhaust, CAI (all simple bolt-ons) can put you around 480-490ish easily. CRAZY amount of power for such a light car.
Why would you even compare this to the Grand Sport? Yes, they are similar, and the GS has the wonderful LS3, but it can't compare to the LS7 in the Z06, that is also lighter in weight.
The steering wheel always irked me. I worked at a Chevy dealership and got to drive a Grand Sport a few times. Nothing like getting into a $65,000 Corvette and realizing it's the same steering wheel they put into the Malibu... It's not even a fake premium look. It's just cheap plastics. That aside, I'd like to own a C6
Alot of folks use Expensive Cars as Trophy Cars and want to use them on special occasians and the lower the miles the more resale Value it holds.. ....

I just traded out of a 2012 Corvette Z06 and bought a 2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible with 6,100 miles on it. I owned the Vette for 2 years. Loved driving the car and when I bought it I didn't have too much trouble getting in and out of it. But I'm an older guy and getting out of the car has become a bit hard on my knees, so decided to move into something that was a little easier for me to get out of. The two cars on my list was a 2013-2015 Camaro ZL1 Convertible and the 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Convertible. I could have been very happy with either car. I only ended up in a ZL1 because I found a spotless example with very low miles on it first. I have plans for the Camaro. I am taking it to a good performance shop to get a new crank pulley and balancer, injectors, long tube headers, cold air intake, and a few other goodies and a dyno tune. It should get the car to about 625hp at the wheel. I'm also going to put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on it for better grip.

On each of the three C6's I've owned, I always kept the stock seats and found I needed to BRACE myself by spreading my knees to have the left against the door and the right against the center stack. Otherwise it's awful tough to be able to maneuver the vehicle through pretty much any degree of curve and/or speed when one's keister is sliding around. SOMEWAY there needs to be a grounding point for anchoring the driver's body. I've had both an '09 Z06 and a '13 427, each of which can be BRUTALLY quick.
I enjoy your reviews, not sure why a few of the people are so annoyed at your reviews. They should just stop watching your reviews and stay quiet. Keep up with the way you present the cars, your facial expression says it all! And you obviously do your homework on cars you review. You can see some of the Mustang Fanboi coming out in this review. Your reaction to the pull in a 3V 300 HP 2007 Mustang GT was far more animated than it was in this 505 HP Z06 Corvette. Still a great review as always.
So I bought a c5 zo6 (paid off)in 2013 and it’s Been awesome And now c6 zo6 prices have almost flattened so might invest in one I’m financially able too but I just love the curves on c5 z 500 hp 7.0 would be awesome tho
So you finally tested the Z06 now you have to test a ZR1 not much to say about except it is a fast thing! overall the z06 of the video isn't even a special edition there are faster Corvettes and this is just one of tons... But god love that sound and the whole thing even the logo is my favorite over tons of cars brands I have even a t-shirt and a cap with the logo printed! krezo the C5 is good but the interior door panels can be noisy. The C6 is put together much better. Good luck with your new Vette which ever one you get. Oh and the seats in the C5 can come loose after time and rock back and forth. I had one.

Can't go wrong with either, but that ls7 in the c6 Z is one special engine. Great potential and even better sound. Personally I'd go with the 09 Z06. You lose on the interior, but you'll save money and can easily get 650+hp naturally aspirated out of that 427.
I was thinking of getting a 6 speed c6 targa base model because they are really affordable now around 12-16 grand. Is the Z06 worth the extra cash and what are they going for?
I’m 100% a Camaro fan. But this specific Corvette is my favorite. Why? The design is (I’m my opinion) better than all. Except the new Corvette C8. I owe a 2019 Camaro 2SS. Now another reason. Is that Beautiful LS7 V8. Question is. Does this car come in Automatic??

corvette is not a muscle car, after the 2nd gen corvette, they went for a sports car approach.

I just traded out of a 2012 Corvette Z06 and bought a 2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible with 6,100 miles on it. I owned the Vette for 2 years. Loved driving the car and when I bought it I didn't have too much trouble getting in and out of it. But I'm an older guy and getting out of the car has become a bit hard on my knees, so decided to move into something that was a little easier for me to get out of. The two cars on my list was a 2013-2015 Camaro ZL1 Convertible and the 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Convertible. I could have been very happy with either car. I only ended up in a ZL1 because I found a spotless example with very low miles on it first. I have plans for the Camaro. I am taking it to a good performance shop to get a new crank pulley and balancer, injectors, long tube headers, cold air intake, and a few other goodies and a dyno tune. It should get the car to about 625hp at the wheel. I'm also going to put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on it for better grip.

@@jon122able Nonsense. Put a roll cage in it if you are going to track or drag the car (because you have to). Otherwise don't drive like a bloody fool and respect the power of your car.

On each of the three C6's I've owned, I always kept the stock seats and found I needed to BRACE myself by spreading my knees to have the left against the door and the right against the center stack. Otherwise it's awful tough to be able to maneuver the vehicle through pretty much any degree of curve and/or speed when one's keister is sliding around. SOMEWAY there needs to be a grounding point for anchoring the driver's body. I've had both an '09 Z06 and a '13 427, each of which can be BRUTALLY quick.

You can see some of the Mustang Fanboi coming out in this review. Your reaction to the pull in a 3V 300 HP 2007 Mustang GT was far more animated than it was in this 505 HP Z06 Corvette. Still a great review as always.

So you finally tested the Z06 now you have to test a ZR1 not much to say about except it is a fast thing! overall the z06 of the video isn't even a special edition there are faster Corvettes and this is just one of tons... But god love that sound and the whole thing even the logo is my favorite over tons of cars brands I have even a t-shirt and a cap with the logo printed! krezo the C5 is good but the interior door panels can be noisy. The C6 is put together much better. Good luck with your new Vette which ever one you get. Oh and the seats in the C5 can come loose after time and rock back and forth. I had one.

The '12/'13 seats are better; I've no complaints with mine. The passenger seat back still tilts forward with hard braking, however.
there is a key. press the button and pull the silver piece. if your fob is dead, go to the trunk, above the license there is a key

Can't go wrong with either, but that ls7 in the c6 Z is one special engine. Great potential and even better sound. Personally I'd go with the 09 Z06. You lose on the interior, but you'll save money and can easily get 650+hp naturally aspirated out of that 427.

Save your money and buy a Fiat 500x. You'll attract just as many chics and have enough money left over to take them to Costa Rica for the weekend.

I’m 100% a Camaro fan. But this specific Corvette is my favorite. Why? The design is (I’m my opinion) better than all. Except the new Corvette C8. I owe a 2019 Camaro 2SS. Now another reason. Is that Beautiful LS7 V8. Question is. Does this car come in Automatic??
