That's awesome man. I remember when these first came out and seeing one for the first time. Remember seeing the C5Z in real life for the first time too. I love these cars.
@@drewmorg. Most likely around 55K in 2024 if the mileage is lower than 25,000. Prices are not going down any time soon for Z06/ZR1 unless the market implodes.
Greatest corvette platform ever!! When this car came out it was dominating other cars on the track that were three times its cost . At almost 20 years old the c6 z is still one of the greatest GS track car ever built.
I love my procharged LS3 C6 Grand sport. You're 100% right about the C6 platform and specifically the Z06. I have driven pretty much all of them even my father's C8 Z06. All of them are great in their own way, for me I love the C6 platform. It's the perfect balance of old school versus New School, and I still have my round tail lights!
I sold my Hellcat and went to my C6ZO6. Hennessy build 600+rwhp. What a beautiful beast. I have driven a a lot of high performance cars and my 2009 Vette is the best of the bunch.
I had a 2009 Z06 that I sent to Hennessy for the HPE600 package. Sold it when I bought my c8, miss it every day. Would love to know what happened to it. Mine was serial #5, torch red w red and black interior.
@@chuckcurry9060 mine is red with the two tone red/black interior. I bought mine out of Myrtle Beach SC. Has C7 ZO6 wheels and ZR1 carbon fiber ground effects and spoiler. I’ve had it a couple months now and am getting used to it. It is an amazing car. I’ve driven hellcats, GT 350s GT 500s, ZL1s ( also awesome and probably my next car) C8s, Porsche 911 ( it wasn’t mine so I didn’t really run it hard). The C6 Z06 is just better after mods than them all. Although the ZL1 is close honestly
Nice Video!! I have a 2012 Inferno Orange M6 GS with 24K miles (I'm the original owner). Sent it to Lingenfelter and had it supercharged.. it's now pushing 600 rwhp!! With such low mileage, I obviously don't get a chance to drive it often, but after 12 years of ownership, when I do drive it, it still puts a smile on my face!
I've always loved the C6 Z06, it's been one of those dream cars that I've always wanted and may actually own someday. It's more than just a sports car, more than just an American Icon of performance, it's the grand standard of what a Legend truly is. The 427 LS7 is likely the last of the best naturally aspirated engines that GM has ever made, they put it into 2 different cars too, the C6 Z06 from 06-13 and the Camaro Z28 from 14-15.
Don't own a Z06 but have a base Z51. Don't be afraid of the cheaper vette's is all I can say. I bought it as an intro to sports cars and C6s and will be upgrading to a Z06/ZR-1 but I am so glad I started with one as my first sports car. The looks, the feel, the LS3 engine, its an absolute blast everytime I drive it. Especially if you're not going to be tracking it and whatnot, LS2/3 C6s are even more insane for the money than a Z. Some you may get under $20k making it. Highly reccomend, they are a lifechanging car.
I'm biased as I currently own a 2009 C6Z, but luv it so much. 3100ish lbs with a big-cube NA V8 and a solid 6-speed...so good. Also owned a 1990 convertible and 2004 C5Z Z16 along with many other performance cars from Europe and the USA. The 1998+ Corvettes are unbelievable bang-for-buck.
I can't think of more than a couple of oe parts used on the C5 that were used on the C6. Not one body part, interterior part, torque tube, trans, differential, or engine management part is the same. Maybe the valve covers, rocker arms and pushrods could be the same between ls1 and ls2. The ls6 243 head castings were the same between the C5 ls6 and C6 ls2. With that said, I believe the C6 to be an extension of the C5 in design and purpose. The C5 continuously improved each model year and C6 just took over in the way that it stepped up the design, then continuously improved on that. Unfortunately, the fun mostly ended with the last C6. Imho, C2s, C5s, and C6s are the only Vetts to own. There are a few notable exceptions throughout the generations though.
I find it funny how, for years, people were so focused on talking shit about the interior overlooking how advanced this C6Z generation was with chassis design. Nothing will ever beat the pure joy of a N/A 427 & TR-6060. There is a reason why this very platform was dominant in IMSA and Le Man.
I love my C7 Z51 Supercharged. Kooks long tubes, catted X pipe, Billy Boat Fusion axel back, and tuned. It will spank that C6 Z06.. Having said that.. I still want one! The 427.. Yes! C6 is more fun to drive than a C7. The seat of the pants feel in the C6 is amazing.. There is just something special about the C6.
What do I think of the C6Z06? For me, that's a long story. Bought my C3 (30) years ago. Manual transmission. Love it! Bought a C4 to keep mileage low on C3. Hated the C4! Next, a C5. Loved it. Then a C6. Great car. Next a new C7 Great car, but interior felt cramped. Sold 7 to my son. Found a C6Z06 "only "800 miles away with just 6k this coming December, 3 years ago, an'08. My favorite Vette!
I completely agree. My dad had a contract delivering parts to Chevy dealerships when the C6 came out. I remember pulling up to a dealership and seeing my first one.Theyd have a ZO6 at most lots. They were game changers.Cant beat the price/performance. My mind was blown seeing the supercharged Cadillac too. Before that my 300 hp 93 Z28 was considered fast.lol.
Have owned a black 2005 XKR coupe for 10 years, and just added a Crystal Red 2008 Corvette coupe. The XKR is a sophisticated and stunning brunette with an English accent, a strapless black cocktail dress, pearl necklace, and high heels, while the Vette is a barefooted strawberry blonde from the US heartland, wearing cut-off jeans, a wet T-shirt, and legs that go all the way up. I am in love with them both.
I have a 2006 Z06. My daily driver in Florida heat. Reliable, blows cold ac, rides rough as if on a gravel road but not. Love. It. 0-60 in one gear is epic. 90 in second… and so on. 2 sets of tires cost a lot. Maintenance is minimal. Rear sway bar link broke, exhaust valve relay died, alternator, starter, battery over the past 4 years. 45k miles.
Bought my C6 2005 m6 3lt z51 in 2014 with 28k on it for $28k. So of course I put mods on it for my one and only go fast car. Base car dyno at the wheel was 350 rwhp and put on an Edelbrock SC, AR headers, Borla exhaust, MGW shifter, catch can, 165 t stat, and did the jumper for the 1st to 3rd brain trust 🤪 After market ZR1 wheels and tossed the run flats. So this spring at 70k flawless miles, I pulled the fuel pump that was fine but 19 years old and had it Dyno once again. 492 rwhp 495 trq which equals 565 hp to the crank vs the factory 400 hp. Longevity was key in my mods so I get this improvement at 3 lbs of boost and left everything else stock. It’s old and since it’s plastic it looks great inside and out and it’s truly a blast. I only do rolling max power runs. 25 mph in second gear and with that torque it still breaks loose for a few feet before hooking up. 1st gear is too low and worthless and only use it if I starting going uphill otherwise with this much torque it starts in 2nd great. But man at 3200 lbs and that much instant torque from the roots style blower, my butt dyno is in seventh heaven. And still a great daily driver. Its’s great on road trips getting 32.4 mpg at 80 mph on the interstate with two full sets of golf clubs. I think your comments about the C6 are spot on In every fashion…well done 👍🏻
_Yes sir! But a couple of things you may want to augment for reference in the future. No Austin, it wasn't the C5 that sold the most of all Corvette generations (C1 thru C8). That honor went to the C3 Corvette with over 540,000 units sold from 1968 to 1982. Coming up next was the C4 with 358,180 units sold (from 1984 to 1996). The fifth-gen was 248,715, with the sixth-gen at 215,223, and the seventh-gen at just 94,529. (And yes since the C8 is still in its production run, we're not sure. Safe to say, the number sold will be incredibly healthy). And I couldn't agree with you more. By the time the C6 Z06, and ZR1 were introduced the car became something teenage boys dreamed about, and what grown men truly fell in love with. (I know I sure did. Alas, today our family drives mostly 7 Series in the M class BMWs)._
I have a 20.000 mile C6 Z06, l addressed the head issue rite away with new ported heads , l installed a bigger cam , long tube headers with deleted cats, a ported MSD Atomic intake and a 103mm Katech TB, l had it on the dyno where it made 720 HP and 620 WHP, l kept it all NA, it’s scary fast, these cars will be just like the 67 427 Tri Poewr Vette, they will command big money in the near future.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍👍

Yea love my c6 ls3 manual I know it's not a zo6 but I own it I'll never sell it I find the younger gen hates a bit on the old guy driving the Corvette I got mine when I was 35 and people say mid life crises no dream car since high school
Not by a long shot. During a work trip to Las Vegas & riding with Spring Mountain instructors who were still using C6 ZR-1's for the 1st 2014 C7 classes I realized how much better the forced induction was in comparison to the LS7 of my 2013 427 60th anniversary convertible. Having traded in a 2010 ZR-1 for the purchase of the LS7 powered convertible. upon my return to home base I vowed to trade in my 2013 LS7 powered convertible for a 60th anniversary 2013 ZR-1. I accomplished that within a few days with S/N 038 60th anniversary 2013 ZR-1. Boy howdy what a difference forced induction has over normally aspirated engines!!!!!!!
I was waiting for some specific details of the C6 Z06. Then the video was over. Maybe another video giving all the details as to why the C6 Z06 is the best sports car.
That “crazy weird thing” GM did with the transverse leaf spring in the rear is literally something they’ve done since the C2. The arrangement is universally regarded as a Corvette leaf spring. And before that, the Corvette still had conventional leaves… The C4 and LT5 deserved far more credit than they received here too.
Thank you for saying the C6 took all the bad parts of the C5 and made them better. I LOVE the C5, but when someone tries to argue it's a better car than the C6, i just laugh. Aside from the money factor, a C7 is a better car than a C6... it's just funny how people think. Yes, for the money, C6 is THE BEST buy. Love our Grand Sport.
I love the C6 Z06. I recently bought a 2013 60th Anniversary Edition Z06 and it currently has ~ 5300 miles. I am conflicted as to whether I should keep it stock (because I do not know if the valves have been done) or go with H/C/I and make it a monster. On the one hand, keeping it stock (and doing the valves) may make it retain more value. But, if the valves have not been done…why not make it a mean MF? Thoughts?
Can’t discount any other Corvette PERIOD. Even the C6 Zr1 can potentially be a better option for someone with the money. They all got their cons and the C6Z06 has a few as well
The transverse leaf spring was not new to the C5. The transverse leaf spring goes all the way back to 1963 and the 1967-1969 L-71, L-89, L-88 and ZL-1 engine cars had plenty of performance.
Dude shhhhhhhh Im trying to get one and the youtube car community is making sure i never can afford one everyone and their mother has now made a video on how great the c6 Zo6 is...😢😢😢😢smh
C3 lacking in performance? So, never heard of the L88 I suppose. Ugh. And way to misrepresent the C4-C5 transition. GM was dying and the head office didn’t care about Corvette. They didn’t target Corvette like you implied.
I love this car, but it's too bad the LS7 is a steaming pile of junk though. Valve guides getting eaten and needing constant maintenance, rod coating failure, extremely fragile sleeves. I'm putting forged rods and pistons in mine right now because the coating on the titanium rods failed and caused it to spin a bearing, and I need to constantly monitor the valve guides because they wear out typically in 15,000 miles, and if you don't fix them, you could completely destroy a $15,000 engine.
I've 0wned three C6 Z06s with a combined 75,000mi driven on them, I had zero problems with any of them, 2007 Black Z, 2008 Will Cooksey Z and a 2009 Cyber gray Z. They can drop valves, but you're always going to hear about that first on the web and forums, and I don't think I'm just lucky.
I’ve owned a lot of cars and I’ve owned three of these (well 2 C6 Z06s and a 2013 427 Convertible). Very fun cars to drive and good bang for the buck. But greatest sports car ever made? That’s a ridiculous stretch. I appreciate you want to sell this car but come on. The C7 is a better sports car and it’s still very far from the greatest. Sorry those who worship these but go drive some more cars.
The C3 Corvettes were "lacking in power " because of Our Government mandates! And, my C3 had more hp than the wimpy 235 that my C4, '86 "Ragtop" came with! If not a convertible, then it would have had 230!
You act like other performance cars didn't have issues. Valves aren't that big of a deal especially considering most people swap them for performance heads/cam/intake swaps anyways.
@@al151 Respectfully submitted, the C6 Z06 has a 7.0 liter V8 coded as LS7 and it is naturally aspirated; the C6 ZR1 has a 6.2 liter V8 coded as LS9 and it is supercharged.
@@3O2MuStAnG Not a big deal until they destroy the block. On this car the heads 100% should be replaced, not even machined. I say all this as someone who's actively trying to get one of these.
The problem is it has a LS7 engine. That is a problem, its not if but when it will fail and destroy itself.Known to drop valves thats an understatement, ask me how I know.I would never own another LS7 engine car.GM screwed up the manufacturing of the engine.
It is well documented and such and easy fix to get yourself one of the best NA engines in history. I don’t know anyone with an LS7 who has not built or fixed the heads. Just saying

C3, C5 and C6 are my picks
I love my C6 , fun,fun,fun.............
The 2011 thru 2013 models with the ZO7 Performance Package are pretty dam great it's a shame the 2006 thru 2010's didn't have that option
Thoughts?
I am really sad i am too poor to afford one. I wish i could get one. Dream car for me.
love my 2007 z06 and dropped a valve $$$$$$ now its the bionic z06 went internal and still n/a
can i just say this is a perfect spec C6Z Edit: would love to know what rims are on them
The rims are oem Spyders. I think this is one of the best looking oem Corvette wheels
I agree
why not a daily driver?
I have a 2011C6 but it's base model but that's cool for me. She's a targa top I will modify it corvette Nation rules
i loved these until i found out my shop keeps an inventory of heads for customers that keep dropping valves and grenading motors
Heads, cam, procharger. Easy solution.
@@appleautos i bought 1 - getting the heads fixed soon, only 10k miles!
I'd love a c6 zr1
"They are known to drop valves here in the 7 liter v8.....and then they have the LS9."
C6 was great for its time, but c7 and especially the c8 are off the chain. 😮
As owner of the C7 Z06, I know you're wrong
Can’t discount any other Corvette PERIOD. Even the C6 Zr1 can potentially be a better option for someone with the money. They all got their cons and the C6Z06 has a few as well
The transverse leaf spring was not new to the C5. The transverse leaf spring goes all the way back to 1963 and the 1967-1969 L-71, L-89, L-88 and ZL-1 engine cars had plenty of performance.
0:24 just FYI that’s not a 1953 Corvette brah
You obviously know nothing about the C2 or C3 L88 cars. They were plenty Fast!
They're not touching these on the street, that's just the truth.
it was before they went up 10k used from 5 years agi
C6 ZR1
I loved my c6 ZO6 but I have to say my 2024 c8 Stingray R is a real sports car. I miss my six speed manual shift though.
I have a 2010 LS3 with mods, that produces a little over five hundred HP. And I have to make excuses, just to get it out on the streets.
C5 was not the first generation of the mono leaf suspension. Not by a long shot.
Dude shhhhhhhh Im trying to get one and the youtube car community is making sure i never can afford one everyone and their mother has now made a video on how great the c6 Zo6 is...😢😢😢😢smh
That is a 1956+ C1 not a '53. Plz be accurate.
Now days corvettes are the star of the the sports car world, and for a reason, people are realizing that they are reliable excellent sports cars
The c8 is not a vette.
C3 lacking in performance? So, never heard of the L88 I suppose. Ugh.
And way to misrepresent the C4-C5 transition. GM was dying and the head office didn’t care about Corvette. They didn’t target Corvette like you implied.
Just an opinion.
Greatest/Cheapest ever you mean.....
I love this car, but it's too bad the LS7 is a steaming pile of junk though. Valve guides getting eaten and needing constant maintenance, rod coating failure, extremely fragile sleeves. I'm putting forged rods and pistons in mine right now because the coating on the titanium rods failed and caused it to spin a bearing, and I need to constantly monitor the valve guides because they wear out typically in 15,000 miles, and if you don't fix them, you could completely destroy a $15,000 engine.
and your still gonna love it lol
The Corvette With the defective LS7 engine was a piece of junk. I lost over $16,000 when the engine did a self destruct. GM junk
The valves in the heads don’t think so.
You act like other performance cars didn't have issues. Valves aren't that big of a deal especially considering most people swap them for performance heads/cam/intake swaps anyways.
fixed them on my z06 which also added 80 horsepower too. and it still cost me less than to get something like an m3 or decent mustang
This one has a supercharged ls3 called ls9 not ls7 so it shouldn’t be an issue
@@al151 Respectfully submitted, the C6 Z06 has a 7.0 liter V8 coded as LS7 and it is naturally aspirated; the C6 ZR1 has a 6.2 liter V8 coded as LS9 and it is supercharged.
@@3O2MuStAnG Not a big deal until they destroy the block. On this car the heads 100% should be replaced, not even machined. I say all this as someone who's actively trying to get one of these.
I would buy a LS3 C6 over the Z06 any day.
That car is not better than the C7 ZR1 let alone the C7 Z06
you don't even drive it?!
Lame
The problem is it has a LS7 engine. That is a problem, its not if but when it will fail and destroy itself.Known to drop valves thats an understatement, ask me how I know.I would never own another LS7 engine car.GM screwed up the manufacturing of the engine.
It is well documented and such and easy fix to get yourself one of the best NA engines in history. I don’t know anyone with an LS7 who has not built or fixed the heads. Just saying
No drive!
These are garbage compared to the C7. Class dismissed.
C6 zo6 rapes any C7 after 60mph. study harder.
@@robwwhit3453 Wrong. Keep wishing. C6 is garbage in comparison.
