My old 600 Fazer needed a new cluster and selector fork but g/box not cartridge type so had to split the engine cases to get to it. Cases split top to bottom with one bolt under the cylinder head just to make sure Yamaha really pissed you off. 😊
Think the later model split side to side and the R6 had cartridge box.
    Miss a bit of spannering.
    Anybody else shout “it’s moving”
    Nope, just me then.

I’ve split a few engines over the years for gearbox jobs. But I really like this design makes it sooooo easy

Who needs a Haynes manual when you can watch a Gruffs how to video. 😂

Thanks for watching. It’s all back together, just waiting on some mineral clutch fluid to arrive because being BMW of course it would use a different clutch fluid to the brakes. And then it’s time for a test ride.
This was just a first attempt at fixing it. I fully expect to be fixing it again next week 😂😂

Fascinating. Looking forward to part 2 🤞 Can you show us the Milwalkee tool you purchased to loosed off that very tight bolt please?

@@Gruffaloscoot I'm confident in your engineering ability. Very annoying that you can't buy the parts individually.

@@TheDervMan I’m only half expecting this fix to work. I’ll get the welder out next time and if that doesn’t work then it’ll be looking for 2nd hand gearboxes

I'm envious, my BMW needs the bike split in two and the engine out to get anywhere near dealing with gearbox internals. 😂 at most expensive nut, yeah there's always one.

Yep if it’s a GS or anything with that engine Fred Flintstone designed then even changing the clutch is a bike in half job.

@@Gruffaloscootlol 👍 not sure about Fred Flinttone but BMW designers used to be evil. The Inline 4 K12 is an awesome engine till you have to work on them 😂

Right Mr Gruffalo, I have spoken at length with BMW and they tell me that there definitely and categorically is no part for my BMW K1200R gear box, known as the 'TWATTY THING' (5:50) and also they do not stock the tool /b/c mentioned at 24:43, what am I going to do with all me dogs and cogs now ? Great video mate.
