    Done mine last week, no need to remove any fuel lines only injector metal pipes.and the injector over flow return pipes, as a precaution if your doing the injector seals do the return pipe o rings, its easy while your there, even if there not leaking., DO NOT Loose the little clips... plastic milk bottol lids fit nice in the intake ports.

    Thanks for a great video. Also yes you can remove the injectors without disconnecting all the fuel lines to the fuel filter. That said still requires a little bleeding. Firstly by removing the final fuel return from the injector. Then when you get the fuel to there remove the return, the fuel filter line and pump until you get no air coming out just fuel. The car then started for me on the fifth or sixth cranking of the engine.

    8:17 there is a manuel fuel pump at the left side of the engine, you can pump it about 10 times to get the fuel to the engine manually.

    I did this repair 2 years ago and it needs doing again. Will leave to the spring. I had a leak after doing them and had to take it apart again; even after being really diligent. I would only do the injectors leaking, since removing a non leaking one may give you a leak on reinstall. You may get one with a minor leak and you could try just re torqing it to fix the leak; if the bolt does tighten a bit you are probably good; if it doesn't then it needs taking out. You can make a tool out of a coat hanger to get the old washers out. Dont use tissue for cleaning in the injector holes; bits of tissue come off and could end up in the engine. Finally it takes ages to take it all apart, cleanup and reassemble; do it on a weekend when the weather is fine and start it on the Saturday!
    The rubber bulb on the left is for refilling fuel; but some models dont have this. Fuel can leak from the rubber pipes/orings, so check these. You can block the egr valve with a plate that stops crap being passed around again. I had a leak on the metal pipes feeding the injectors; i got a second hand set off ebay for not much money. The rings are just guides to center the injectors; as advised the copper washers make the seal. Finally check all pipework/hoses for breaks/splits/leaks, etc; you would not want a break down or engine fire so prevention is the best course.
    Check your turbo for wear; i rebuilt mine using a £20 kit off ebay.

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  7 років тому

      Alastair Munro thanks for your comments some very valid points. I believe Ebr blanking plate can only be done on earlier models due to the ecu having a sensor to detect airflow but they are a good job. Tissue was just kitchen paper and worked ok as i needed to get the injector seat as clean as possible before putting the washer in. A clean rag or cloth would work well too.

      Those bolts are the only bolts. Had me looking for something else still connected but nothing there. It needs a bit of leverage to get it to come away. I used a length of metal bar in one of the gaps under the plastic cover (between the manifold openings) and pulled upwards. Check you're not putting your lever on anything important before levering.

    Hi,
    Thank you for info,
    just little tip `I found it more easy to disconnect the very end of the return house,then undo the bolt holding down the injector ` then I remove the injector with the metal clamp that held down the injector`
    then I removed the spring pin to release that part of the return hose thats in the injector, then I place the bolt back in to cover hole, I found it more clumsy and fiddly to remove pin while injector was in, not to much room or vission to get at the back to pull spring pin out,

      Orbital Tube I did this job today & it didn't cost me a penny. No need to disturb the fuel system, just undo the bracket. Injector 4 was starting to blow & I just nipped up the clamp. I tightened all to be on the safe side. Not over tightened mind you. I already had a set of glow plugs I bought months ago so this was the ideal time for them to go in. Put all the old seals back & away it went. Drives and starts lovely now. These cars are nice & cheap to run, but the layout makes them time consuming to work on, as no doubt you know all about. At least I saved a few quid, & I do secretly enjoy a bit of car maintenance!

      That is a good point. I didn't replace them but it might be a good idea if the parts are not expensive? Its very difficult to see what is leaking and from where due to the engine design once the airbox is back on the car. Crap design. To be honest it might make more sense to get a mechanic to do this job than doing it at home.

    • @Carpenter92
      @Carpenter92 7 років тому

      They are pretty expensive, around 120 pounds for the 4 cylinders in total where i live. I bought my fiesta used around 1,5 years ago, and it's leaking diesel a little around the fuel lines, i guess the fuel lines were re-used in the past, but i'll just leave it the way it is for now, there are no symptoms, only the leaks. Diesel is not flamable so it shouldn't do any harm.

      Hi there, I dont understand the question fully as I know what you mean by hidden score. But if you are having issues with replacing the valve cover again, its difficult to make it fit down into the ports again. I think I had to put the round seals on the valve cover first before fitting and it took a few tries to get it to fit "snug". Good luck. It's many years since I did this work so I cant remember exactly. Please try a few times to fit and you will get there eventually.

      @orbitaaltube  9 років тому

      +Darren Johnson Hey Darren, It might be cheaper to bring the car to an independent garage if you can get a recommendation from someone local to you as they will definitely be cheaper than the Ford dealership. The glow plugs are at the back of the engine below the intake manifold but they can be a bugger to get out as they might be sized and need a bit of heat to get them out. If they are seized and they break they are an absolute pain in the ass to remove. Its a lot of work to do this, to be honest its easier to take it to a good garage if you can find one.

      @kiesesoza 7 років тому

      ptek2004 hi . I had a whooshing sound on my focus 2lt dtci and worried it might be turbo related and expensive but it turned out to be a perished rubber hose connector that comes off the throttle body and then down to the bottom of the engine maybe intercooler im not sure? But theres 2 of these and after removing hose and adjusting the rubber conector the whooshing noise disappeared so might be worth checking the big hoses off of throttle body before going down the slippery sloped injector route buddy. Hope this helps . Paddy :-)

      sugar magnolia no problem. Been out & about in mine today & it is running better & quieter than ever. Tighten all four while you are in there , and new glow plugs are a good shout as you need to take the rocker cover off to do those, so they get overlooked. I re used all o- rings & used a smear of silicone sealant on rocker cover gasket. Wasn't any need to piss about with draining the fuel filter, just undo the bracket & move to the side. Same with coolant reservoir. Make sure you take off the cam belt cover before lifting away the rocker cover. Took me about six hours with cleaning & all that, but if I had to do it again I could do it in half the time. Hope this helps. Also on the cam belt cover, there is a shitty protruding screw housing in the middle of it. Do yourself a favour & cut it off with a hacksaw. You'll see what I mean when you try to refit it.
