    How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these UA-cam videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
    Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

    OMG 100 lira to rent a bike for the whole day? I only paid 25 lira per bike and that in the high session. Never buy or rent anything in the first row. In the third row or in the side streets is everything always 1/4 cheaper. In the side streets there are also signs with 25 lira rent all day. You don't have to bargain anymore :) but nevertheless the island is mega... enjoy your time in turkey especially the turkish traditional breakfast called "van kahvaltisi" is a dream.

    Wow, wow, wow, I want to go back so badly. This island is stunning and the idea of renting bikes and cycling around the island looks amazing! • @ruzgar1312
    @ruzgar1312 2 роки тому +4

    Don't get me wrong, things are not cheap in Turkey. It seems cheap to tourists because of the currency rate and devaluation of Turkish lira in recent years. I think everything looks cheap to you so you are not looking for alternatives. For example, 32 lira for a ferry ticket is quite expensive it is 32 lira bc it is run by a private company. You could have bought a return ticket for 10.40 lira from the city-owned ferry and the last ferry is leaving the island on 23.55 Same for a rental bike, 100 lira is expensive for that bike, I'm sure if you looked other stores you could have found a decent quality bike with a cheaper price.
    I mean, of course, money is yours and you can spend whatever you want but because it seems cheap to you it doesn't mean it should have bad quality. Also, it is doesn't mean that it always has good quality if it is expensive. Prices and quality of services or products vary a lot in Istanbul. I lived in Istanbul for years and when I go there I still ask for advice( best places, price, taste)
    Note: I wrote this not only based on this video but in general I have seen that many tourists/backpackers had experience similar things.
    All the best!

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  2 роки тому +1

      For sure, I know you’re correct there! It would be amazing if someone like you could make a UA-cam video on how to get those cheaper prices like where to access the city ferry etc - I’m sure a lot of people would be interested 😊

      100 liras for a day is crazy expensive. Be aware that the minimum wage is about 2825 liras here. Normally as a local the maximum price they would be able to charge you is 50 liras for a day. In the southern towns you can even find bikes for 15 liras a day.

      Thanks Budoor ☺️ I’m thrilled for people who are happy in their religion whatever that may be 🙏🏼 Personally I’m very content not having any religion in my life at the moment. It’s a nice thought to think that everyone religious or non-religious can live amongst each other in harmony 😊

    Yes, please insult the beautiful country and the people living in it :)
    And delete all the comments that mentions this situation as well, because it is better to ignore than to acknowledge, right?
    I have been subscribed to your channel for years, but not anymore after this video. Hope you learn to respect and not insult the countries you are "appreciating" in your videos.

      I second that question from Mikaela, please can you expand on what you found insulting? I don’t believe I said anything insulting at all and if it came across that way, it absolutely wouldn’t have been the intention.
      I also haven’t deleted any comments so I really don’t know what you’re suggesting 🙃

      @@abditekin9245 ah, I see. Misinterpretation of what I was insinuating it seems 😊 when things come at cheap prices (like everything does in Turkey - which is amazing) I can’t possibly expect the high quality equipment. I didn’t think that one would need explaining but thanks for the feedback, I will try and word things more clearly next time.
