    ABOUT ME🙋🏻‍♀️
    I'm Christianne, a solo traveller, vlogger and entrepeneur from Surrey, UK. I spend half my time exploring new places around the globe with my backpack, and the other half creating videos about my experiences, what I'm packing, solo travel advice, money budgeting tips and anything else in relation to my backpacking lifestyle.

    FAQ's
    How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these UA-cam videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using www.backpackingbananas.com/pr...
    Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
    Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

      Yeah but you compensate it economically. Try saving to travel abroad in a country where the average wage is (with the conversion) 300USD.

    • @tmfltnfn
      @tmfltnfn 2 роки тому +4

      @@lourlopezsk sure maybe we make more, but also cost of living here is much higher so it pretty much cancels out. A huge percentage of Americans are stuck in minimum wage jobs offering no benefits and no healthcare. Federal minimum wage is $7.25/ hr. That’s roughly $850/ month after taxes, which is barely enough, to rent a one bedroom apartment in most places. Factor in monthly bills and groceries as well as possible healthcare costs and most people have next nothing left at the end of the month to save.

    this video literally couldn't have been better timed! I've been putting off travelling to wait for australias borders to open back up and go over on a whv but that's not happening for at least six months so decided I'm going to head off around Europe for the next six months instead until borders open up. leaving in a month and just handed in my notice for my jobs, about to book my one way flight to Greece! this is literally all thanks to you, found your channel about 4 years ago and you were my introduction into backpacking and whv etc, my life would've been so different had it not been for this channel (probably would've gone to uni etc) and I really will forever be beyond grateful for that! ❤️

    Thanks! I think this is what I need. I'm not starting my new job until august, and I have plenty of time (and money) to travel.
    First day of planning: I'm thinking of Portugal and Spain because of the language, culture and cities.
    However I also want to scuba dive, and keeping my budget down if I can. In that case Indonesia would be a great choice.
    Now I'm stuck between the two but I think writing all of my thoughts down will help me.
    I'm going to start with the questions and then follow your video step by step.
    Edit:
    Okay, two days later and I've figured out that Europe is too expensive for the things I want to do. Indonesia it is! I just ordered my backpack! :D
    Edit 2:
    You know what, this summer aint the one. Weddings and grad parties... and deciding where to go within a month, when my gut tells me something's not right. Nope, I'll wait and save the money. This summer = relax and have fun at home.

    Have you ever had to use travel insurance? Do you think its worth it if your just going to like tier 1 countries that are safe?

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  2 роки тому

      Absolutely you should always have travel insurance! Because it also covers things like loss of luggage, equipment damage If you need to go to the hospital etc. Also bad things unfortunately can happen in any country and it’s not worth taking chances

    Hey Christianne! 😁
    I really really want to go backpacking around the world! 🗺
    I have a few questions 🌎🤩
    1. Should I plan my trip now while COVID is on? Or should I wait?
    2. If I should plan now, do you know what will be different in the world?
    3. Do you think there will be other backpackers?
    Thank you heaps!

      Depends on where you go! But if you are only going to go backpacking once, I would probably wait another year or so, when the world will be much more opened up and there will be less risks 😊

    So you are saying that you booked 5 times your return flight in the destination country infront of the immigration people, right???

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  2 роки тому +1

      Yep! Well… I wouldn’t book a return, I’d just book any flight out of the country to show I will be leaving within my visa limits
