The rural areas are some of the best places to visit. I speak Turkish, a bit less than I did when I lived there. The people liked it when I spoke to them in there native language. I miss it. Turkey 🇹🇷 is a beautiful country.

Hi, Bery! We visited Istanbul a few weeks ago and got lost near the Eminou Bazaar. I was wondering whether you could tell us what the residential area in that part of town is called? We passed what looked to be a raised tramway or train, across from a big wide highway, and saw people walking across a long walkway. The residential area looked a bit impoverished, but it felt safe. We walked up and down lots of hills and kept running into a similarly lost couple of young women. I would like to note in our travelogue exactly where we were, but I'm not sure. I think we walked west of the Eminou Bazaar, after visitng the Rustem Pasha (Green Mosque), but we could have been turned around, direction wise. We passed an industrial product type of bazaar like area of household products, working class locals type bazaar, with non-fancy items like kitchen utensils, buckets, mops, that sort of thing, ending up in this residential area. My wife seems to recall seeing a wooden house. Can you think where we might have been? We didn't cross any water to get there. It was very interesting and colorful. Clothes hanging on lines, little kids running around, lots of pretty cats, and no one seemed to speak English, most wearing Muslem garb. We love your travel videos. Having watched them made our trip so much fun! Thanks for all your helpful travel tips!
Been to Istanbul in May 2023. Overall, I did like the entire city and its historical attractions. Few things I disliked: 1) could not avoid passive smoking in a lot of areas (even in areas that where not much crowded like Galatta Tower) since smoking seems a culture. Even kids were into it. As an asthmatic, I found this problematic. 2) Language issue. Had a hard time conversing or asking for directions. With majority did not have basic English understanding. Had to switch to sign language. Some locals/Merchants were rude. 3) Too crowded and congested in some areas This is not a con but to mention that all mosques looked similar. No difference in Architecture.
As someone who was recently diagnosed with allergic asthma and that I even have to use the inhaler I totally get you with the smoking part, I cannot handle it any more being among smokers because it immediately triggers my cough attacks 😰😰
Hi! Thank you for the compliment 😍 however, I’m not Turkish 😀 And of course! You can marry a Turkish girl, for love, there’s not limitation of anything at all ❤️
Ottoman capital cities in order, bursa->Edirne-> İstanbul,,, So means there were old palaces to send them as a punishment, far away from main palace,,,
