Thank you so much, this ministered to me so much! Last year I went through a very traumatic year of nearly dying from an emergency bowel resection leaving me on life support for 3 days and only half of my small intestine left, several months later losing my mom to dementia and just recently a very painful estrangement from my daughter that had to happen until deliverance comes, I just could no longer take the mental and emotional abuse any longer. My heart has been shattered and I too questioned where was God in all this but I’m finding He was there in it all and I’m seeing and learning of Him in ways that I didn’t know before. Please keep me in your prayers as I’m on this journey of faith
Oh Stacey, I stopped and prayed after reading your words describing a year marked with the deepest grief and near death experiences. There are no words for events that slam down, one after another. Thus, my prayer today is that the Lord would fill you with His presence, He would give you a sense of peace, hope, perspective, and trust as He is carving your life in a completely new way. Pain is never entrusted to us without a purpose. It’s not possible to see that when we are "in it", but I promise you, He will use every experience, every dark moment in ways that will be life changing. Isaiah 43 has been my go to chapter recently. He IS going to do NEW THINGS in and through you as you abide, trust, accept, surrender, and cling to Him. Praying again. - Colleen
Colleen, please explain her definition of comfort being strength. Our Bible study is on "The Sermon on the Mount" and I would like to share what your guest said with our group. Thank you❣
As I see what is in scripture, Romans 8:29 tells us the meaning of why whatever happens - it's "to conform us to the image of Christ." That's the bottom line of it all. 2 Peter chapter 1:3-12 also tells us that there is to be a progression of growth going on in our lives and that we are blind and short-sighted if it is not happening. I myself have to keep going back to reminding myself of those truths of His word. There are others, but those are key for me.
You are in GREAT company! Romans 8, 2 Peter . . . and other passages like James 1 and the book of I Peter are "Soul Keeping" when it comes to pain, perseverance, and God’s purpose. Whether or not we ever know the "why", it’s trusting in His sovereign plan and His unconditional love that keeps us moving forward. Blessings to you today. - Colleen
