What a wonderful feeling it must be for a musician to hold an audience of this size in the palm of your hand. Charismatic, that defines U2. Saw them in '82 or '83 at a small venue in Tampa, FL and got to go back stage after the show and meet them. 4 great guys, just kids then, who were polite, personable, and so happy to be doing what they loved, making great music.
Considering the powerful connection that each person in the arena experiences, the musicians (especially Bono, perhaps) must, in turn, feel that connection, which could be "magnificent" in its totality. I agree on your description, "charismatic," especially after being in a theater with Bono last November and experiencing the union of all in attendance with his stories and psyche. Truly hard to fathom. Thank you for your report on meeting them in the '80s.
I don't know about you but from 1:54 to 2:09 I can feel the energy from Bono when he sings. He even spits. It's so powerful that I can't stop listening to it. Probably one of the best few seconds of a singer's performance I've ever seen.
Whenever I want to hear a song live that totally exceeds everything about music, this performance, this song, it's just bloody magical, it gets to my guts...
I love U2 music because it talks to me. All I can offer in return is my gratitude. Thank you U2. Lovely how the crowd goes crazy at the chorus That looks like the most fun crowd to be in. I'd do anything to be there
Words cannot even begin to describe how amazed I am at this performance. Especially The Edge's guitar solo between when Bono says "not a hopeless case" and when he says "see the world in green and blue". Just spectacular.
U2 have been with me through everything from the start.was in Slane just after my dad died .Bono thanks for playing Slane. You were such a gentleman when you met me and Joe in 2016 after the Yeats poetry even.Bob and Bono on yhe one evening two of Irelands greatest .
Lovely how the crowd goes crazy at the chorus Crowd reaction when the chorus kicks in sends shivers down my spine, amazing That looks like the most fun crowd to be in. I'd do anything to be there
im just glad i was alive during this thing' called U2'''been a twenty five yr joy ride!!!! im a u2 disciple''' hope this message finds u all well'' all love''
"Beautiful Goal" Jason Mcateer's goal was amazing, remember watching it on the big screen at the concert. This day most definitely was a beautiful day.
Franz G. I went to see u2 in Cleveland with my father July 1st, and I think everyone but my dad & I had one. Very distracting, but still an awesome concert.
Sounds as awesome today as when first released. What a gig that must have been and the audience played their part to the hilt. Man,I wish I could have been there,
What is it about U2 that is "better" than the Beatles: it is quite simple. The Beatles live were all about fun, a good time, let's party. U2 live seem to have loftier goals. As far as I can tell, at their best they are literally trying to change the hearts of everyone in the audience, so that every person who hears them leaves with a core of hope in his heart that can never be erased. Pretentious, perhaps, but they are really trying to accomplish this. And sometimes, they succeed!
Down from the endless vista of a clear blue sky comes the beginning of this song and it flies directly into our hearts, uplifting us above whatever reality we live within. We know there is a higher world than ours. We know that hope is immortal. We know our lives are precious and ultimately wonderful. Never forget the message of this song!
This song warms my heart when I listen to it. Has been doing so since I discovered it when I was three. Takes me away from reality where people don’t understand what I go through and makes me forget about everything. That to me is more than I could ever ask for from U2.
Indeed. I most certainly agree..... cause regardless of my mood and other peoples actions..... IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!! Never let anyone ruin it. You have that power. Don't let people have control over how you're going to feel about any hour nor second in your life. Smile! It's a beautiful day.
+Lawrence Goodsell no such thing as a best band. great song but there are a ton of other amazing bands. I would guess you also love Queen. Which is "one of my favorite" bands.
Brings a tear of happiness to my eye, seeing these people become one with music, not like nowadays with smartphones and dull crowds and the same pop over and over. Truly a beautiful day.
@@maverik15j Sadly i believe you are right in many modern societies who are continuing to pour money into this technology--but I think it is dangerous to think that it is forever gone. Creative flow, being in nature, solitude, and family which can all help you be in the moment, but it requires disconnecting from the society machine in certain areas if not entirely
amazing...........just amazing i enjoyed every second watching this.. that's what being a Singer is all about.. nowdays every1 think's they'r singer's. mono is amazing..
i saw this one time on television for the first time. usually i dont like live versions of songs i like because they change it a little. but this made my jaw drop, i think i like this version better. but still i play this song on my cd in the car and sing along and i love it. feels good to belt it out. when i'm alone of course and with the windows up lol
Can't get enough of this man (Bono) and U2. Will be contacting him directly within a day or so. Truly a great member of our planet? Agree? Yes, we thought so! Enjoy, Sally & Russell
I love U2 music because it talks to me. All I can offer in return is my gratitude. Thank you U2.

Not a single smartphone in the crowd. What a beautiful day.
Pfff
Because it's like 2001
You are so right, i hate this shit at a concert now! You look to the stage and every dude in front of you hold up his shitphone.
Franz G. I went to see u2 in Cleveland with my father July 1st, and I think everyone but my dad & I had one. Very distracting, but still an awesome concert.
Liz Horne did they have “selfie sticks” as well? that is the worst, people go to a concert and just take their own picture.
Sounds as awesome today as when first released.
What a gig that must have been and the audience played their part to the hilt.
Man,I wish I could have been there,
Energy!
holy crap best version of the song absolute beast wish i was there :)
You can practically *see* the music go out from the stage in a wave.

The Edge is so underestimated! One of the great guitarists of our time - he IS the sound of U2!
I love the raw energy that comes with live versions of songs....
I love how you can see the spit flying from his mouth @ "teach me lord..." damn...I already know I would've been crying here.
