The Bach Double on two mandolins played by Emma Borders

- The Bach Double is such a cool piece! I have played it multiple times on the violin, but one day I thought, "I wonder what it might sound like on the mandolin." So I tried it...and I love the way that it turned out! In addition to using the mandolin in folk and bluegrass music like it is commonly used, I enjoy bringing it into the classical realm as well. This was a super fun piece for me to learn, and I'd love to know you thoughts about it down in the comments!

Beautiful performance. This is no easy piece!
Thank you so much!
my nextdoor neighbor and I have been working on the Bach Double. He plays violin; I play mandolin. Lots of fun & I love Bach on the mandolin.
That’s so fun! I love it
Stupendously well done! Great technique and tone :)
Thank you so much!
I bet Chris Thile would love this! Well done :)
Thank you!
He has a version.... mandolin and guitar. It's great. Emma's performance is so very special however...... Because the interplay between just two mandolins is so crisp and complex.
Superb.
Thanks!
fantastic!!
Thank you!
Impressive playing, Emma. Clean fingering, great tremolo, nice dynamics. You have very fine musicianship. A delight to listen to your double-playing of this piece.
Thank you so much!
I feel like I’m in Pride In Prejudice Times! I love it!!
Haha yes!!
Bostin job, Emma! No ear/headphones, either?! Very impressive on many levels. Brava!
Thank you!
gran ejecución; muy bien
Thank you!
Keep it up it is wounderful
Thank you!
@@emmabordersmusic where are you from
brilliant 👍👍👍
Thank you!
I love the Bach double. Been playing parts of the sonatas and partitas recently but some of them will remain forever beyond me!
That’s so fun!
Very nice!!
Beautiful woman doing talented things 🎉🌹
A favourite piece of music, and so refreshing to hear it on an unusual instrument choice!
Thank you!
@@emmabordersmusic Your earlier Bach video with the jig from the second partita inspired me to try to learn it on the tenor guitar I have ... I'm still working on it, but it's fun! Bach is really second to none.
That’s so cool! I love trying new things. Yes, his music is timeless.
Really nice.
Thank you!
Excellent performance! I love this work, especially the second movement. I don't even rally miss the orchestra part, which is something I love about Bach's music - the solo voices paint enough of the harmony that they can stand alone.
So far the only Bach solo I've learned on mandolin is the famous Cello prelude, but one day hope to play the Chaconne. That's a beast, but so intricate and beautiful.
Thank you! I completely agree. His music is timeless. Oh the Chaconne would be amazing! I’ve never tried that one. You’re right, it’s a beast but so beautiful.
So beautiful
Thank you!
Bellissimo!
Thank you!
❤
What could be better than one Emma playing mandolin. Two Emma’s. It was very clean. Well executed. Is that the same mandolin for both and is that a Collings mandolin or another maker?
Thank you. It is the same Collings mandolin for both.
You are a beautiful young lady
how do you record yourself like that
Good question haha! For this one I actually recorded the audio separately because that was easiest. Then I videoed myself playing each part and edited those together with the audio later. Hopefully that makes sense
What do you use for audio recording?
I use Logic Pro X. It’s really nice and easy to use
@@emmabordersmusic one detail more: what kind of external mic do you use for audio recording? Would you use the same muc for violin and vocals too?
