To quote Mike....."Mando cellos came from a time when giant mandolins roamed the earth"! I had the pleasure of playing the John Monteleone mando cello that Mike is playing in this clip....it was simple the best!
Esta es una interpretación deliciosa de Back. ¡Bravísimo! Katherina y Mike; bien merecidos los aplausos. Desde Londres, con mis mejores deseos de éxitos a ustedes, Ricardo
@tynank Not at all. mandolin = violin (G3 D4 A4 E5); mandola = viola (C3 G3 D4 A4); mandocello = cello (C2 G2 D3 A3). And mandolins tuned in fifths came before guitars (E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4), which tuned in fourths The two instrument families are not related. (
crying here...listening this amazing violin master piece transcripted to the mandolin!..bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.h m.y g..a..w..d. That was soooo good! Thanks for sharing this. Really extraordinary. I wish I could have been there for that concert.
Love both their playings !! thanks!!
Excellente version... et quel swing!!!
Sublime. It just does not get better than this.
Mandocello is a mandola tuned one octave below the standard mandola.
Very nice mandocello arrangements for this....Marshall rules !!
Love these two people!
They make it look easy!
Totally wonderful!! It is my understanding that Mike composed the mandocello part himself. Anyone confirm that?
Let me know if I am wrong, but I am sure that Mike wrote the cello part.
What kind of a world is it where this gets only 1800 hits?
So nice.
Better worlds don't have UA-cam at all.
@tynank LOL a quick glance at your channel confirms that you indeed know how to tune a mandolin! Some excellent videos there!

very cool!
@Mandolin1944 By guitar violin I meant played with plectrum like modern guitars, not tune like, but thanks for the clarification
WOW!That duet was really cool but, I really have to tip my hat to that mandolin player she smoked on that piece 4 double strings up : )
Remarkable.
Only thing- was it just my speakers or was there this very slight feedback on the higher registers in the 1st couple of minutes?
@hhold I'd bet he did it himself , having known him for his arrangements for the mandolin quartet he had a few years ago...
TONE!!!
@omoshiroidayo Mandocello (ADGC) just like a mandoLIN is a guitar vioLIN a mandoCELLO is a guitar CELLO.
Eccellente e impetuosa comr il Vesuvio.
Who wrote that bass line?
Bach, of course
I want to be her mandolin in every way:)
