How do we become better players? Always be willing to listen & learn from other players. You are a blessing Emma!

Death grip with my thumb, really been concentrating on keeping it relaxed. All the rest also.😢

The clenching is an issue I've noticed recently with mandolin. It was bad enough that I was having pain in my thumb and hand just from the pressure against the neck. I finally figured out that I was using my 'death grip' to keep the neck in place while fretting. Fixing it has required me to rework my whole playing position to allow my right arm to do most of the work to resist the backward pressure generated by my fretting hand. I still have to keep checking in otherwise I revert to old habits.

Yes!! It takes a lot of work to rework those old habits, but it is very rewarding and freeing when you do!

Yes!! I did the same thing with mandolin! Sometimes those habits can be challenging to fix, but they can make a huge difference!

I did too! You can pin-point one and work on it until it gets better, and then pick another area to work on! Just take it one step at a time
