I fell in love with that sound way back in 1978. In 1998 I actually learnt them as a driver. I still love that sound now. Shame I haven't been able to drive one for over 20 years.
I used to work them but I've not worked for twenty years ,brings tears to my eyes On ilkley Moor bar tat was played regularly by my driver who has sadly passed away ,but I love this growler.
I haven’t seen a 37 in years. I used to walk across the fields from my Nanas smallholding to a bridge over the railway to Grain, and the gravel and oil trains headed by 37s would make the bridge shake. Awesome
Oh these are the true unsung hero of the British railway as they are still the gold standard when it comes to raw unadulterated power on the railways! 🇬🇧
Tractor Trashes will always make the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention!! Always have been and always will be will be absolutely “fabulous”
if i could upload a memory,,, late 70s/early 80s, LTS Tilbury loop, platform ticket in hand, less than 10feet from the platform edge, 37s🥰(and 47s) with loads coming round the bend from Dagenham Dock powering up for the long straight towards Purfleet assaulting my earoles and rearranging my guts, fkking glorious it was 😃
Could you imagine starting road rage with that Growling Monster coming at you through the car park, that's when you can say my Dad's bigger than your Dad. 😂
It never ceases to amaze me how English Electric just got it so right with the Type 3... and yet EE is no more. How many 37s survive out of the original 308?
Lovely video 😊and the class 37 s are the best diesel trains 🚆 in the world 😊😊😊
The 3 survivors of a nuclear war - cockroaches, Nokia 3310s and the Class 37
It's like when a Spitfire or Lancaster is flying nearby, you just know what is coming and receive an injection of affection.
I'm not afraid of admitting that hearing a Class 37 engine has brought me to tears. There's nothing like the sound, it's beautiful.
There is just something about it when you hear a Merlin engine,
Perfect description remember 4 x 37,s going up Westerfeild bank to collect freight liners from Felixstowe sound NEVER goes away 👌
Amazing they are still in use
Proper workhorses 👌👍
It would be one hell of an experience to be in the Totley Tunnel near Sheffield with one of these beasts approaching.
60+ years and still got it!

It’s not about you Andy Pandy… the best thing about this channel is the honesty of it. No need for you ruining it with desperate fictitious nonsense.😂
Sod net Zero. I love CLASS 37s 🎉. Growl baby growl! 🐯
Going by these Class 37 drivers, they certainly aim to please! Great video, thanks for posting.
Aaah the soundtrack of my youth.aaaah he soundtrack of my middle age. Aaah the soundtrack of my pensioner years.
I used to work them but I've not worked for twenty years ,brings tears to my eyes

Just where 37s belong on the open road! 😂
I remember double headed 37s storming through Wigan North Western with WCML freights. amazing sight and sound.
Magnificent locos. Like the Deltic they have a character of their own and just exude power.
Brilliant footage. English Electric music at its best

Nice to see the difference @ 10:00 too. No noise, smoke, fumes, ect. You certainly know it when an older diesel comes through. ✔😉👍💯🇬🇧
Funny to hear the 2 stroke American diesels being called the quieter smoke free option! It's all relative I guess :-)

*Q* "We need to move two locos, shall we just drag one with the other?"
*A* "Nah, let's link them & then thrash the hell out of them!"
3:13 That godly sound and two tone 🔥🔥🔥.

My new favorite loco.
a class 37 pulls the Riviera night train from the South West up to london. Lovely to listen to, and effortlessly gets up to speed.
That’s a 47!
Wonderful sound.
Absolutely lovely

They sound like straight piped Pete 379s! These things are STILL running after all these years! Kinda reminds me of some GP30s that still serve BNSF!
well pleased these locos can transcend international barriers

Well i didnt expect ti see a class 37 rolling through a car park if I'm honest 😂
13:05 playing hide and seek behind the Brush in Loughborough
Where i used to live always saw 37s and 08s working . And others 👍. Not the same anymore. 😢
These 37’s must be heading towards one of the longest running British locomotives in constant service?
Please tell me “yes”
Absolutely Yes 👍
Like taking that class 37 for a walk. There's a good girl biscuit
It never ceases to amaze me how English Electric just got it so right with the Type 3... and yet EE is no more. How many 37s survive out of the original 308?
95 survive I believe
the guy on the first clip
It’s probably what we all want to do but most of us aren’t brave enough! 😜👍
I always get confused twixt C37s and Deltic class, or were the Ds the forerunner of the Cs ?
Top footage , what camcorder do you use ?
It’s a Panasonic HC-VXF1 👍
abs fantastic footage
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
